No need to cry foul. If you were not contacted, that implies that either you're not fully qualified or a better qualified person has taken the position. You are not the first to be in such position, neither is such only applicable to NLNG.

NLNG? Hmm, My paddy cried like a baby when they replaced him with another person after success mail. After all the stages of tests n interview, they were told it remained medicals, after some weeks he found out that d guys he did d interview with has done their medicals n resumed work, he now called the woman in charge if d exercise n she said ah ah! He has done his medicals n resumed na, its stated in her records. Naim my guy burst into tears o! Dem don swap am with another person.
Most likely that your guy lied. If they wanted to replace him, he wouldn't even get invited for interview. That person would have been invited.

I find this hard to believe tho, not that I don't believe Nigeria LNG did some form of favoritism but for the fact that someone else resumed with his name??... Wow!!!!!!

Bro this is just a normal recruitment process where the OP was not selected and for NLNG being what you and I know her to be, they closed the recruitment process with a mail informing him that the position had been filled.

But for lomprico 's friend who got someone else resume work with his name and details. I am left in awe.

Hello Joblanders,

It has become pertinent for me to also share my story here, in order to get one or two piece of relevant advice from a better experienced NLander.
Sometime in August last year, I was invited for an interview by Serve Consulting in NLNG for the position of a Project Administrator. I prepared and all, during the short notice. A friend had submitted my CV as the opening was an in-house thing for their Port Harcourt operations.
I met with the interviewers - a man and a woman - after waiting for over an hour. After the usuals of introductions I realised it was just a brief interview as no special skills were needed and from the visitors log, I realised I and someone else I didn't meet were scheduled for an interview that day although the time was different...hours apart. I was interviewed and it went well. They asked If I had any questions on which I answered no, citing that my questions are basically things I'll find out on the job. They told me they will get back to me, as it was supposed to be a year project but up until now no word from them. I've sent mails without a reasonable response until one of the interviewers replied saying the position has been filled. The friend who submitted the CV said I shouldn't bother about them so I suspected some shaddy dealings.
Abeg my people wetin una feel say really happen?

Methinks, you weren't qualified for the job as a Project Administrator. If you were able to mesmerised the Interviewers, decorum wouldn't allow you to come here and asked us what we think happened after the interview, when your question would have been best answered by your insider. Why did you even think we knew more than your insider?

I believe you're talking about their graduate recruitment process which isn't what the Op's talking about but do you honestly believe that that is even as much as 90% merit? Haha

Sorry the Project has rounded up and even during d duration of the project, most of the roles required certification(SAP,PMP) /experience as it had duration/time frame and no time to start teaching someone on the job. Project Admin might not require experience but d person has to be a fast learner (use of ms outlook, excel, word and powerpoint), then scheduling and organizing meetings/trainings/workshops, logistics or travel arrangements etc.loads of work sha. Cheers
Okay. Thanks.

I'd give them 75percent, this is a high score so far as Nigeria is concerned.

People like you are among those people that will always cry foul after you have failed a recruitment process that it is filled with favoritism.
The OP did not mention that the recruitment was for NLNG direct staff but it is for a contract position. It is likely it was the contractor company working for NLNG that invited him for the interview.NLNG will always advertise their recruitment publicly and it is always transparent. I will tell you that recruitment in NLNG is as transparent as anything and you can even request for your performance if you are in doubt. Whenever you are saying anything always be fact based. If you don't know please ask for clarification

mildteddy:
Personally, after my experiences with NLNG, I will tell you to forget that you ever had any interview with them, because obviously they have forgotten that they ever interviewed you.
NLNG is about the epitome of the ethical decadence in most Nigeria owned institutions.
In my first year in school when I applied for their 'scholarship' my story was the same as yours. No text or email to acknowledge reciept or even to reject it, just nothing.
In fourth year when I just convinced myself that they have changed and decided to try them out again for internship, the story is still the same. This time they acknowledged reciept, I never heard from them again, ever!

They are known for this charade they pass out to cover the underground thing going on inside the company. Bloody Nepotist!

Forget them and move on bro. Experience is the best teacher.
(If they later get back to you, fine, but do not take them seriously from henceforth)

If you believed what you are saying is correct and is fact based ,mention the name of the person and the post he was interviewed for and the year he applied and I will ask my contacts to confirm your story.

I had similar experience 2yrs ago with one of the leading pharm. Company in Nigeria. The recruitment was also an in-indoor one, and my cv was pushed by someone I never met even as I write.

I was invited for an aptitude test as a medical sales rep. It was an opportunity I should not allow to slip off my finger, so I did prepare well. On that faithful day I was the 2nd candidate among the seven of us to arrive their office along Ikorodu rd(between Anthony and Obanikoro).

The first phase of the interview(aptitude test) went well though I realised I made a terrible mistake-- when the examiner returned back to the hall to collect the papers, I was few questions away from rounding up. So at the cost of ensuring I attempted all the questions, I at random, horridily fill in A, B, C.., even into more numbers than contained in the question paper. Lol

Three days later I was invited for oral interview(the final phase). The invitation unlike the conventional way, came two days prior to the interview. I was asked to acknowledge the invitation. So I quickly put call to a friend of mine who told me that acknowledging the invitation does not need much to do; that I should just reply them to prove I received their invitation.
I think this is where things went wrong cause a day later, the company wrote me, telling me that the date for the interview has been cancelled and the new date will be communicated to me later.

I called their office and a lady who answered the phone told me she acted on instruction.
I ignored all these and went to their office the following day(the interview date) only to find out to myself that they were actually conducting oral interview to 12 candidates, and only this 12 names pasted in the security post were allowed entrance. The lest na story.

Generally speaking, when a person goes for an interview, he or she should have at least three to five questions to ask the interviewers. It tells them that A) you've done your research on the company, B) you're very interested in the company, C) and it may lead to extended conversation with the interviewers and make you stand out from the rest.

Well you just left me to wonder why we are discussing this issue here if your NLNG was so 'transparent' in the op's case and in two of my cases, as well.
