It is saddening that the continuous death of innocent souls is now a political issue being referred to only as "soft targets" but I think the nation deserves to know the truth and if during GEJ's tenure, the APC relentlessly publicised casualties to show the ineptitude of the previous administration, they have no grounds to ask the media not to serve as oxygen for...........etc. as earlier stated by Lai today. The APC should brace up with the mandate given them, keep quiet and take it just as the PDP took the heat. After all, a 2.49 CGPA is still a third class result, "TECHNICAL DEFEAT" wasn't what was promised.

We as nigerians in the cyberspace must as a matter of urgent importance support the government and media to suffocate the terrorists using the media platforms.
I want to quote Margaret Thatcher who stated "media is the oxygen on which terrorists depend" which was further reiterated by Lai Mohammed today. Terrorists want to be popular because the more they become popular, the more they achieve their goes of instilling fear, terror and devastating psychological effects on the citizens and beautifully, the Nigerian media space is being used to achieve this. I agree we have the right to know but I want you all to also know that currently, BH is happy with the media for helping their mission of terror.
Its high time the media stood on the side of the government to protect the citizens from terror and halt all forms of terrorism through well censored reportage in terms of content especially.
When BH strike, they don't count their victims per head and they calmly wait for the media to tell them how successful they were and how weak the govt forces were. Also, the media must stop publicing intelligent information against terror groups as it aids in changing their modus operandi.
Of what good is it to both the media and her audience if the death toll was 26 or over 50? Will it not be on the gain for the BH sect to measure the degree of their success and ways to improve? Does it not cause more panics to us all?
Please our media, use the cyberspace infrastructure to weaken and suffocate terrorists rather than making them terror/dreaded celebrity. Use the social platform as a tool for sustaining peace and democracy.
God bless the media,
God bless the military,
God bless Nigeria.

Oga, which ever one you are, Nigerians need to know the truth. Media shouldn't be gagged from reporting actual casualty figures. When it happened in Paris, the French media reported the actual number of casualties. The same with Britain in 2005 . The same with the US in 2001,September 11.
Moreover, the APC government prided themselves in Nigerian troops losing ground against boko haram; they were actually very happy instead of uniting with the PDP leadership, at such trying time, and seeing the whole thing as a national emergency.
The PDP leadership passed the FOI act and signed it into law. The APC states are still resisting it. Who then wants transperency among the two? You be the judge.

I am very much ashamed of your defenceless defence. So we should keep lying to ourselves in order to win the terrorist?

From you logic the terrorist don't do head count of the dead but the media, hence the media should release less number of casualt to the public in order to win them. Right?

I. What happens if they(the terrorists) get less number casualt from them media were they still have more capability to inflict more damage on the citizens?

II. What will be the fate of the ignorant citizens of the nation?

III. How will that put a permanent end to the insurgency? And so on.

I am not here to celebrate or mock the high rate of illiteracy in the nation, but to plead with some of you that term yourselves the well educated and highly sensible to at least stop misleading people especially when it involves life and death. Call a spear a spear.
Tell them, Bro!

Apart from attacks, what else do you think the terrorists desires? How do you think they are going to get it if not flying on the wings of the media?
I read an acclaimed interview of BH spokesman with blueprints newspaper when hr said they (BH) are pleased with blueprints media for giving them that publicity when nobody knew about them and how they were first attacked by the Army.
If you read carefully, I did not say they should lie on the number of casualties but can lower their voice on it rather than bringing unnecessary arguments that wouldn't in anyway do more psychological harm. A headline can simply be put that persons were fear dead following the attack is just enough.
The citizens will be aware of the attack but will be saved from some of the psychological harm of the attack.
Media doesnt in any way stop the army from fronting the line.
You don't seem to know much about terrorism and the role of the media. Go find out.
Brown envelope media are the ones that would carry out your injunction.

When we were warning Nigerians about apc and buhari before the election we were called all sorts of names ,Nigerians didn't use their brains to ask apc and buhari the kind of change they were bringing. Apc never promised positive change they only said change which can either be positive or negative.
Now Nigerians have chosen the way they will be govern ,maybe next time if the opportunity ever comes again they will think better and question the candidates of each party what they have as plan when they get into government. Apc never had a plan.

You're wrong.

The truth provokes proportional retaliation.

Without such provocation, I wonder if our soldiers can be motivated by any other means.

Talking about being terrified?
Who's afraid of Boko Haram at this time?
If you don't feel rage against them,
then there's a marvelous and damnable cowardice in you.

But, if Boko haram learns how greatly *successful they've been, it can relax their zeal;

They can be so puffed up with pride and slump into carelessness.
It's possible.

But lies will only cloud the people over with false sense of security,
And shrinked-casualty-size reporting might fuel the madness of the insurgents
because
the media makes it look like they don't prove any point.

But their real intention is to prove a point again, again, and again; and all over, and again till they rise to a dominion

An excerpt from Prof. Chinedu Nebo. Former minister of powers interview.

There were people who decided that Nigerians would never benefit from the efforts of the previous administration. They fought, busted the pipes on a regular basis. We left capacity of more than 5,500 megawatts and we could barely keep the capacity of about 4,000 to 4,500 megawatts, and maximum production; sometimes they brought us down to the level of 2,000. So, on the average, just at about 4,000. Yet, we had 6,000 megawatt capacity.
These people busted the pipes systematically at different places that it was so difficult to fix them. Each time, the gas companies said they were spending close to N100 million every month, to fix the pipelines. The turbines were not getting gas to be fired.
Isn’t it amazing that from the first day the new government came in till today, not a single incident of vandalism has taken place? Only God knows those that decided that Nigeria would not have power. Everybody is now shouting: ‘we have power, we have power everywhere…’, but where did the power come from? It is from the work that we did, and thankfully, because they have stopped vandalising the gas pipelines, they recently hit 4,800 megawatts just a couple of weeks ago. That is something wonderful. We would have done that easily; we are getting to 5,000. In fact, by January this year, we had the capacity of 5,000.******
I think it is a wonderful thing that the present government is trying to recover from people who have defrauded the country, but sometimes too, the method can also be grievous, because as some of these things are being done, some of people who have done nothing at all are being embarrassed.
To paint everybody black and to give an impression that everybody was a demon can’t be right. Some of us did our best for our country and we have always done that, and to be so vilified at every pronouncement discourages people. And I can tell you that it is going to be hard for many worthy sons and daughters of Nigeria to agree to serve this country again. And it is going to be tough for any African leader to hand over to the opposition because of the way things are happening right now because people are going to say; Oh!, if I concede and hand over, I am going to be hounded to death. And I think that is not right for our country that this happening
