I have been seeing several threads in this section, many tend to chastise and sometimes even mock single ladies, I think a thread to uplift rather than pull down will be a welcome change, hence my decision to post this Whether anyone likes it or not, not everyone will marry and have kids as expected. Even in the ancient times, they were people who never got married, ever heard of Eunuchs? Besides these, some people will choose not to marry for other reasons like religion e.g. Priests, Rev. sisters, Monks, nuns e.t.c. this is not necessarily catholic, as Buddhists monks do not marry and Nazarene Jews do not marry too. Other reasons include life’s choices and destiny. Whatever the reason for singleness maybe, it is not a curse, it does not mean loneliness, singleness simply means not in a romantic relationship, this does not include friendships, formal relationships, spiritual relationships and family relationships. Single people are not living in secluded Islands like some tend to insinuate, the customer you attend to in your office may be single, the woman you buy items from may be single, the choir mistress in your church may be single, your child’s class teacher may be single, your hairdresser may be single, the Newscaster you see on TV every day may be single, and so on. Yes, single people have a life too, they have hobbies, some have pets, they catch fun, they listen to music, surf the internet, read books, care for their nieces and nephews, aged parents, hang out with relatives. Believe it or not, some even have kids of their own, some were once married, some lost their spouses, some are divorced e.t.c It is not a permanent situation for everyone, some will be single for a short while and get married, some will be single for longer periods and get hitched afterwards, some will be married, divorce, and be married again, some will be separated and reconcile with their spouses or choose not to, it all depends. Who will remember a single person when he/she is gone if they never marry? Well, who remembers Jesus? Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Atheist. Jews, Traditionalist. Scientists, e.t.c. So what am I trying to say? People will remember you for what you do e.g. Mother Theresa, Gandhi, Micheal Jackson, Einstein, even Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh. Note that these people are all known to various degrees, regardless of their marital status, the similarity between all of them is that they touched lives and we remember them for this Happy New Year in advance. |

To be single isn't a big deal and deserve no sermon of encouragement. I think if anyone deserve to be encouraged it should be the married. What a lot of the married go through isn't admirable and something to dream about. Now this is not to rub the marital institution in the mud but marriage isn't a rosy ride like some may want us believe. There are married people who wish they could have their single days and sole independence back. Just like there are some who have found total repletion in the union. Before one rubbishes single guys/ladies they should take an inner look of their friends, loved ones and acquaintance who are all married. Look beyond the surface and propaganda they are projecting and ask yourself how happy these people are? Have their lives improves better than it were when they were single? Many marriages today are still together coz of the kids, which is a good thing. I don't know about you but I can confirm that many of the married I know aren't contented with their marriage. I can see beyond the facade and some usually open up that they got more than what they bargained for. So before anyone berate the unmarried don't think the other end of the stick is better. In a nutshell, marriage isn't for everyone. If you think it's what you want go for it. And if you think it isn't something you can handle, stay away from it. Naysayers and what 'jobless' people would say people shouldn't bother you. |

bjcole:why should they stay away from sex? is sex meant only for married people? I hope you are not assuming you are preaching a church sermon to fellow Christians? at your young age you have no idea what marriage is, you will learn. |
| Re: Single Brothers and Sisters, Keep Your Head Up! by bjcole(m): 3:23pm On Jan 09, 2016 |
LastProphet:Young Man, sex is for married people, the author of sex made it for people two people that are joined together in marriage, and I m not preaching to you, if you are single and you stay away from sex, then we know you are really single. Mr Man, sex outside marriage, what is it called, Fornication I guess you know and that's preaching too. |
