Since the judiciary is corrupt and their judgment based on the law cannot be obeyed, I think the PDP governors, PDP senators and house of Rep members that were sacked by the same judiciary that is corrupt should not obey the judgment and retain their seats. Yes naw ![]() |

lastmanstandn:your write up is lengthy and would have made a good academic discussion but your argument is not sound. Let me start with the Nnamdi kanu, it is the only the courts that can pronounce kanu guilty of the offence he is being charged with. Two courts have granted him bail and the executive is disobeying the order of the courts, and you think this is right? What happened to the rule of law? What happened to the right of the citizen as guaranteed in the Constitution of one being presumed innocent until he is convicted by the court. I do not want to go into the issue of kanu engaging in terrorist activities as only the courts would determine the guilt or innocence of kanu and this would based on the burden of proof which the prosecution has against him. If the prosecution has a good case against him whether he is granted bail or not would have no effect on the final outcome of the case. However disobedience to courts portends a grave danger to our democracy. As the gains and the independence of the judiciary in the last few would be greatly undermined. This could pose a great danger to our fledging democracy. On the dasuki issue, a number of issues are not within the public domain for us to pass a judgement. But on the dokpesi, the prosecution has no case. It would fail in court. Let's look at the facts in issue. Was dokpesi given a contract, the answer is yes. Did he execute the contract, the answer is yes. If perhaps he didn't execute a case of fraudulent conversion/stealing by conversion, obtaining by false pretenses could have been established against dokpesi. But in this case he executed it. Is it dokpesi 's duty to verify the account which government would use in paying him? The answer to that is no, as he is not a staff of government. Is it dokpesi' s duty to check if the job given to him passes through the procurement process? No, as he is not a staff of government. Those charges are defective. On the overall it is the burden evidence which the prosecution has against the accused that would determine their guilt or innocence. No one can perform magic with the facts of a case. The rule of law should be allowed to prevail |

Bollinger:We borrowed democracy from the West, but the judiciary in the same western countries you love to subscribe to and hold up against your own country that's battered and looted dry by the same judiciary and criminal elements while you suffer on bad roads, while you exist in darkness, while you are saddled with crippled healthcare, while they and their families jet out for ordinary headache, while you and your children are left with sad and pathetic education system don't grant bails to terrorists, they don't get to manipulate the court system to get evade justice while criminals walk around spending and enjoying stolen funds. Their presidents don't call their treasury department to release billions to anybody or turn their treasury department to ATM or share stolen funds meant for their soldiers fighting terrorists all over the world with friends and cronies. In Nigeria, looters and criminals walk free because of our corrupt and bankrupt judiciary, but not in America where they impeach presidents for less, where they send governors, senators and reps to jail with ease because they have credible, functioning and incorruptible judiciary, a far cry from what you are saddled with in Nigeria, a million mile long distance from the one you expect us to continue to live with still after 55 years of suffering and lack of progress. Ibori is in jail in Britain because our corrupt and decayed judiciary refused to do their job. e are talking about a judiciary and court system that let a criminal like Ibori dedicate the terms of his own prosecution from where he is prosecuted to who prosecutes him and who judge his own case all under a president who not only looked the other way, but allowed the common criminal to to evade the Nigerian people and Nigerian justice system. It's always laughable and pathetic to hear Nigerians pull up America when supporting their own upside down logic and disingenuous concern for rule of law after staying docile, silent for 55 years while the same criminals they are siding with used the same make sure they stay poor, underdeveloped and doomed to fail. Nigeria is not America and America is not Nigeria. The fact that you borrowed democracy from America doesn't mean you are or and must function like America. Get your own dirty house in order first before such comparisons. |

Weselion:So how did you come to the conclusion that Kanu is a budding terrorist? Is it because of his views on Biafra? For your info, citizens have the right to air their view on the state of the nation. One can hold the view that Nigeria should be disintegrated, and another that we should merge with other Africans to form a bigger nation. So long as such views are not injurious to other people, one is free to hold ones view. Why do you see it as anathema the discussion of whether Nigeria is going to continue as one nation or not ? Many nations have disintegrated, and even peacefully. Sudan and South Sudan, the former USSR, Kuwait from Iraq, name them. And recently Scotland held a referendum to either become a sovereign state or remain one with the UK. Even Ireland broke away from the UK. Your type are the ones that hold women captive, that they can't divorce you. |

McSquishi:Your comment reeks with utter selfishness, why will you term indefinite detention and flouting of court orders a good thing. African have a history of leaders who transform from a self-acclaim "saviour" to despots(Idi Amin and Mugabe comes to mind), it is the duty of the informed citizens to oppose such transitions. How happy will you be if you or a relation is indefinitely detained by a government who believes it has the moral right to do so even though the court says otherwise. Note: I assume you are an american citizen who believes in democracy and human right, if not kindly ignore my comment. |

Let us call a spade a spade. It is wrong to disobey court orders under any guise. Law is law,if u are not pleased with any law as president u have to work with the national assembly to change it or work with it. No excuse and that is why any normal police officer will even allow 2 deadly robbers to go if an innocent person is used as shield. Put all the stollen money together any deep thinker will know that Nigeria future is bigger and richer. Disdobeying court order is anarcy that can destoy any nation. |

MXrep:Why should he explain what has been reported in all newspapers but you all chose not to read like educated folks, but instead allow your prejudices becloud your better judgements? Every single one of those acccused was released as ordered by the courts without exception. None of you folks have the right, and should not have the audacity, to tell the authorities when to arrest anybody. Recall that the NIMASA DG was released on bail but was rearrested outside court premises in public view, during which he commited a new crime of resisting arrest. People like you will come to nairaland in a couple of months and accuse the authorities of not releasing the DG as ordered by the courts. nansense ![]() |

Buhari has an Amaechi who shut down courts in his state for about two years even though he claimed non of his ministers are corrupt as if Amaechi illegal shutting down of court is not corruption. Why are we then surprised he won't obey court orders? Birds of the same feathers flock together. Like Amaechi, like Buhari. |

arresa:It is very easy to say what you think because you are not the one in detention. Consider the various military massacres - Odi, Benue, Shiite in the north. So long as it doesn't affect you directly, you will feel less concerned. But the day that it will happen in your community, you will be wailing 'genocide! !! Genocide '. |
