ShowYourCertificate:I disagreed with u on one reason that he promised. Yes he promised but Unfourtunately wot he met and seen on d ground needs second thought not to bring calamity to d Nigeria Nation as a whole. I would 've love we Nigerians waited patiently and give PMB and his team more time to prove their worth before we start lambast d Government .

anytexy:The reason why most people protested the removal of the subsidy was not because of Politics, but because most Nigerians did not like paying N140 per liter for fuel....up from N65 per liter. The thing with subsidy removal (and yes, I was one of the PDP opponents who thought it was a good idea even back then, and long before GEJ came into office) is that most Nigerians.....including you....do not really want to pay higher prices for fuel. Even now that we do not have the money again to subsidise the fuel because oil prices have dropped (back then we had some money to subsidise the fuel because oil prices were high...which meant enough money in treasury to do the subsidy....now there isn't thanks to oil now being below $33 per litre)....most Nigerians would rather keep the subsidy.....instead of reaping the long term economic benefits....because you do not tell people who live below a dollar a day long story about ''long term economic benefits'' (They would think that you are talking grammmar). Fact is, APC has to remove the subsidy. Buhari and Tinubu might have supported the retentionl of subsidy back then , but back then oil was above $100 per barrel. Now it is $33 and dropping. If you were a fuel subsidy supporter in 2012....chances are that you won't be in 2016. But the problem is....running a poor country like Nigeria where people see subsides as their only benefit from government, regardless of who is in charge.....removing subsidy is going to be a hard sell. For example....we subsidse our education sector. Remove that subsidy, as for fuel, and we would save millions of naira....but fees will go up, and people would protest. So...we keep the subsidy....and the problems continue. |

ShowYourCertificate:Which subsidy again when crude oil is already $37/barrel? You people don't know simple arithemetics . Subsidy is gone until the international price of crude increases thereby making landing cost per liter over and above #87. |

NLC, does this organisation still exist? See, you guys are on your own, yes OYO. Where was NLC when the economy was been bled to death? We should be careful about these crisis contractors that call themselves NLC. What we need now is not strike but constructive and superior suggestions on how to manage this economy. You would agree that subsidy has become open to monumental fraud and has worked negatively against all efforts to encourage local production of PMS. If one model is prone to abuse and not working, we should be ready to try other options while at the same time managing challenges envisaged. |

the question for NLC is have they considered to cost of barrel of oil in 2012 and the cost now? even the cost when PMB made the promises is not the same now. if factors that shape economic decision vary, then need to change economic decisions arises. |

skimarvel:The leaders don't suffer from amnesia. The citizens do. And it's acute. If the citizens didn't, they would remember which party performed well, and which individual did his/her best during their tenure. They would remember not to let sycophancy influence their allegiances. Don't you see the way people hail Amaechi, Fayose, etc. The moment is all that matters to Nigerians. Not the past. Not the future. Just today. And don't even bring up the point about the way Nigerians think. Nigerianss in general have a phucked up mentality. They want change but want to keep doing the things they've been doing and thinking the way they've been thinking which has led them to the present predicament they are in at the moment. |
