Exactly.....i also make use of this method,am really enjoying it.

Most students have been complaining that they fail these and that,even to the extent that 47% was recorded for pass grade at the just concluded G.C.E. WAEC,Our guidelines will help you to read and understand.
Take your pen as you read,it goes thus :

1.Take Away all distractions:
Don't allow your brain and your body at large to be distracted by Gf/BF,Food,family problems e.t.c. when reading,
One brain can't do more than one things perfectly at a time,your brain is not a machine[even machines do rest] avoid over using it. When you are reading,focus with one mind and avoid diversion. Moreso,some students are also distracted by meaningless things like games,social medias e.t.c. When reading,that shouldn't be,focus your brain on what you are reading

2.Take A respite:- An adage says "All work and no play makes jack a dull boy". After reading for like 45 to 60mins,take a respite and relax,don't over use your memory by reading for 6hrs without stopping. USE YOUR Brain wisely. When you relax for about 15mins,come back fresh and excited.

3.Summarize what you read:
Take a brief upshot of what you read,some books might be tedious that you might not want to read again,take brief note of some keywords on what you read and write them down,it really helps.
Read at the best time easy for you , God created us in different ways but thesame patterns,
Don't read when you hate most like in the midnight when most people hate,don't inconvinient yourself and know when you assimilate what you read most.
Like me now,it is in the MORNING.

Sometimes,you may feel bored when you read alone,call your friends and mates so that you can read together but don't misuse the opportunity by playing and gisting for fun when you ought to be reading,you can only gist when on respite

6.Use Dictionaries when reading :
Most of the times when you read,it is not advicable to use dictionaries because it waste time and distracts attention but there are some courses you need it e.g. GEOLOGY: Words like seismometer e.t.c.

7.Ask yourself questions on what you read after reading :
An adage also says "Without an Exam/ TEST,No success,test yourself on what you read by asking yourself question on it,just like revising.

8.Create the habit of reading at least twice a a day :
At times,when you read a topic today and continue it tommorow,you may still forget what you read,just read twice a day and there is every possibility you may never forget what you read again

9.Don't be forced to read :
This is mostly applicable to secondary school students,why should they force you to read? ! When they force you to read,you can't even understand what you read and it also leads to creating some hatred habits towards the course

Why is it that i hardly forget and understand better when adopting the vocalising method of reading, but i easily gets tired and hurt my voice in the process but i can read for hours without getting tired when adopting the mind reading process but i easily forget what i read?

The word "thrice" is old fashioned, outdated, antiquated and archaic. however does not exist in English again.
the right word is 'three times"

if you can read to the hearing of ursef alone its a formula deduced from a holy book, ths increases concentration, another one is ths after reading try to translate or recall what u have read in ur native or mother tongue by so doing u wl never forget the information stored

Consistency is key as well. Map out time to study everyday (even if it's two hours) because somehow the brain needs to be active to function properly and that can only be done if you put it to work often. Reading today, till the next three days will not help. Been making that mistake but have been corrected and now I can virtually understand anything I read.

Time management is another important point. If you don't control your time, you won't be able to read effectively. Tell your self the number of time you want to study for the day. Lets say six(6) hours. This is what you will do. Don't just read for the six hours without rest. Divide that six hours into three fractions of two (2) hours and allocate three different courses to each of the fractions and revolve it round till it covers all your courses and start over again in that order. Remembers to rest for about 10-15 minutes after each fraction of 2 hours elapses.

Now to read, understand and recall effectively, read a sentence or a paragraph, paraphrase a question from what you have read and write the answer on a rough sheet of paper and it will register in your mind unknowingly. Watch your speed and do not be too in a hurry as this will impede your understanding. Take your time because every sentence you read carries an important point. It's a slow method of reading thats why you will need to read everyday to cover enough ground.

When reading endeavour not to have anything of distraction by your side like phone or laptop because you can't do two things at the same time.

When you follow this step, you will be surprise to recall effectively if any question is asked from the area you have read.

I started this method recently and it's working wonders and the only regret I have is that I didn't discover early before now.

If your have been reading before now and you've not been getting understanding, start all over from the scratch but endeavor to keep on scratching. Goodluck!

I like your idea so much. In fact, i have thought about it, too. However, there's a great limit to the words one can translate.

The problem is that, most of these scientific terms are words from other countries' languages; most of them don't even have English translations, talk less of yoruba, igbo or hausa translations.

you are right that most of them of latin and others, but i want to lookk at it from ths angle, ur(1) simply refers to iron, water and oxygen (2) na copa n sulphur (3) na when power wey de inside magnet de work, and so on so the basic thing is understanding it and making it fun, then to ur dialet, now for me i never had any issue with organic chm, or anytn chm as its just part of me, but i usually tell younger students to make a mental picture of structures, then just understand the use of terms to denote nature and number of bonds, and then family names and symbol, very interesting abi?
