not true..no company will give a fresher brand new car except if he had come in as a manager...
pls get your fact right ....

It's very true access bank gives their fresh employees brand new Kia motors and pay that much... If I'm being paid a good amount of money I won't complain about the stress of the job .. People don't pay u to lazy around ,, there's nothing free .. If anyone can't work then they should try sitting at home and get frustrated than working their ass out

Sammhi he is very correct . Every graduate trainee gets a loan to purchase a brand new car either a kia or hyundai.
Its a mandatory loan

No weekends, close Like 11pm everyday , loss of work-life balance . No work life balance, just work balance. Technology not yet 100% digitalised. MPR meetings on Saturday tlll 5pm. You may be mandated to come on Sundays sef. Of what use is good pay when you can't even sspend it without the shadow of your company lurking behind you for tasks. Most people I know resigned from access bank without the prospect of another job so they could retain the remaining shreds of their sanity.

Money isn't everything.
Guess that's the price anyone who wants to earn 200k has to pay..
Money isn't everything but money is a necessity...

I tried weighing some options sometimes back between Access bank and another Coy... I tried to search Nairaland for some info and all I saw can be summarized as "Flee from Access".

Someone said on one particular thread that a 50k monthly take home is better than a graduate trainee position in Access Bank.

Access pays 43k+ for graduate trainees while they are in Training school and pays 243k immediately after training school and a brand new car which I think is a lot higher than the average for entry level positions in Nigeria.

I have come to understand that Access bank is quite stressful to work in, but then again, nobody will pay that much money for any staff for doing nothing?

So why exactly is Access bank bad to work in, because in my opinion I feel they compensate well

I worked there for a few months. The worst months of my life. My bosses were insultive, my colleagues had no joy, we worked weekends only for your boss to thrash all your efforts. Dem no born you well to leave office at 5/6. Sometimes, 10pm and I had no car, staff bus leaves at 8pm (was in Head Office).

To worsen it Aig and Herbert did not believe in work life balance. 2 guys I knew died because of the job. One died on his desk, the other died on his way home from work, when he was supposed to be on leave.

Abeg, it's not worth it. I wasnt a fresh graduate, infact I had worked in a different bank for 4 years before joining Access so all their paparazzi was uncalled for. After a few months, I packed my portmanteau to a place where joy lived.

The problem is a lot of Nigerian youths idolize the Oil company job. Hence they become 'transit' staff. It doesn't matter how much you pay them, how much you invest in their training both locally and abroad, they lust for those jobs because they think it's all about relaxing and earning millions.
You pay someone 220k net salary yet the cheapskate won't use their money to run small company expenses while out on the field. They rather call the office to stupidly say 'I ran out of airtime so I couldn't call the client to follow up'. Even though they know they can write and get reimbursed.
You then send them on business trips on the company tab and the bills they rack up leave you dazed.
I sent a staff to a conference in Abuja, the fool racked up a bill of 720k over 3 days! He wanted to enjoy all the 'services' the hotel had to offer.

Right now, It's sad but I have more African expats working for me than Nigerian. Believe me, when you meet a Ghanaian immigrant with a University degree, they are so damned committed to their jobs! At least, they are humble and willing to put in the hard work.

Sorry I am venting but this gets me so angry! Nobody wants to start at entry level, work hard and get up the ladder anymore. They all just want it the easy way.

I didn't brag about my monthly earning or "criticizing or degrading other profession". I simply made him realize that some start-ups are able to succeed despite all the odds.

....:::::: In my first year of business I was able to earn above 200k monthly but it wasn't easy to achieve. In that period, I barely sleep for 3hrs daily::::......

I have pals that also were able to earn beyond this in little time.

Managing your business is still the best.
Shouting 'next customer please' everyday can be very frustrating.
Do am small and run for your life.

You obviously have very little knowledge about the banking industry. There are different roles in a bank, and those related to attending to customers are not usually done by graduate trainees. The people you see at the counter are usually contract staffs. Banking has much more to do than just accepting deposits and cashing cheques. Have you ever heard of investment banking or corporate banking? Those who work in those units, do you think they perform cashier or teller duties? No! They offer financial services to firms and the government, they offer advisory services on mergers and acquisitions. And that's just a tip of the iceberg.

The only reason people write the banking industry off is because they know very little about it. And that is just sad.

I've seen many people comment with "Start your own business." And I feel those people need to understand that while entrepreneurship is great, not everyone will be an entrepreneur. If everyone is selling, who will purchase?

But that is besides the point. The point is this; we don't share the same dreams. While you wish to start your own 'small business', some people want to thrive in the financial services sector, in the oil and gas industry, in agriculture, in information technology. And because they wish to work in these sectors does not in any way make them inferior to you who feel starting a small business is best.

Besides, people will urge you to start your own business, they will never tell you the cons of the process. Nigeria doesn't provide a healthy economy for businesses to thrive, with its very angry tax system and fluctuating price system, amongst many other factors. Although some businesses thrives despite this, there are many that do not, and that is the reality that people won't tell you when they're urging you to 'start your own business'.

And there is also this notion that starting your own business automatically means that you are working for yourself and not for anyone else. That's a blatant lie. The purpose of any business, asides making profit, is to serve your customers who bring you your revenue. So the same service bankers give their customers, is the same any entrepreneur gives their customers. Except if you are your own customer. Although the entrepreneur enjoys certain perks like flexibility with working hours, being her/his own boss and all, the underlying factor is that s/he still serves customers.

I admire entrepreneurs. I also admire people who work hard to achieve their career goals. I do not believe one is better than the other. I believe we all have different life goals, and different means of achieving them.

Starting your business is legit. Working in a company is also legit. End of story.
