Hi all,
Just finished web development course in niit which included php, mysql, javascript, html and css. You know how niit can be?
Now in the real world, while trying out my first site I realised I needed knowledge of graphic design, bootstrap and detailed knowledge of css to get my site really beautiful. infact,i feel lost and very hungry for more. what do I do?
I can't possibly pay for more studies as I spent a whole lot on niit, webmasters just help me out on what to do,tnks

( no rudeness intented) you should have spent the money you spent on niit on internet connection, like my brother above said that's the best solution now,the only advantage of going to that niit is the certificate

Website Developers are self taught.

You need to unlearn all that niit stuff and learn the real world own.
Re: I Need Help!! by cheavroi(m): 8:23am On Jan 05, 2016
I think you made a major mistake by not seeking the right advice before going to niit to learn.

No school can teach you everything you need to know about any subject matter. What you need is to have a general idea of what the area of expertise is eg web design and now specialise in an area you want to be a professional in.

So in real life, you learnt web design. Do you want to be a php expert, or html or graphic or even javascript etc.

When you have a job, work on your core expertise and then outsource other areas.

That way you are likely to grow faster. I am not saying you can be a jack of all trade but a time will come, you will realise that you might need to focus so the earlier the better

Nkiru, if you see a beautiful website that you like, can you peep into the source code and CSS?
If the answer is yes, then you are one step closer to saying "Damn! Why did I have to spend all that money learning CSS and HTML".
If you can't do that, Google it!
Php and other server side scripting is different because some people are self taught others need guidance to learn it.

@9jawebdev-- unlearn niit, that part made me smile.ok,please give me details on how to penetrate the real world.really,i want to be a guru in this stuff.
@chevroi-- are you serious?? This is the first time I'm hearing this, and it makes sense. I use to think I should be able to build a site from scratch till its uploaded ,i shld do whatever its needed. Never knew I could handle jobs with someone else. Please throw more light on this.
@onyengbu-- I can view source code and understand.but since I don't know jquery and bootstrap,i easily get confused.

You guys should please feed a sister with specific info on what to do from here.tnx 4 the advice so far

Ok @cheavroi, if I want to specialize, how do I divide them. Can I say ok,i'm specialising in html, css, javascript and php then leave out the rest? Just how does the specialisation go and how do people pair up,im interested please.tnx

If you can inspect source code, you can start by recreating css of certain pages you like. Do it on your own system and test.
Jquery and bootstrap can come after you have started creating good looking pages.

Meanwhile, Bootstrap is a framework so also Jquery you create functional websites without them, especially bootstrap. So if anyone told you that you MUST learn them as a starter, that person might be trying to scare you or just ahead of himself.

Funny enough if someone had advised you otherwise, would you have agreed? I really don't think so.

The problem is a lot of people are blinded to the Reputation (or past reputation) of big names.

From experience, the best in science are self-taught. Though you might need some guidance (depending on whom you are) but in developing countries such as Nigeria, you are better off having Google as your partner. Because most of those lectures (average teachers all got their content online with little or no modification.

I believe you have learnt some lessons anyway though in a hard way

Thanks man! ...just that bootstrap and jquery really makes a site look great. nevertheless,i'll practice the peeping and copying of source codes as advised. Hehe!
