The National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos was the ground where Nigeria lifted her first Africa Cup of Nations title in 1980. A hallowed site for Nigeria's sporting glory has gone into disuse and disrepair since the Abuja National Stadium was constructed to host the 2003 All Africa Games. Goal's Shina Oludare recently visited the stadium where he took these pictures.

Politics and tribalism.

Truth be told the stadium can no more host sporting events,but many numerous activities including various clubs training there, it still has the coaching school, numerous shops, Ojez night club, a redeem church, a mosque and arabic school, event centers and many people who now live there I don't know how they do it, and that's just to mention few activities that goes on in there on a daily bases you would have to take a stroll to understand what I mean.

I remember how I look forward to practicing calisthenic display in the main-bowl prior to the botched U20 World Cup in 1995.

Lagos state stadium is Teslim Balogun, at the opposite of it.
