[Well spotted. I was about to make this point. The stadium was and is property of the Federal Government. Between 1999 -2015 the Federal Government moved the Super Eagles out of Lagos for reasons that some termed political and to gain traction for the Abuja Stadium. It couldnt have been performance because the Super Eagles lost only three matches in that stadium since 1971. To Ghana ahead of the 74 World Cup, To Tunisia ahead of the 1978 world cup and to Cameroon on penalties in the 2000 Africa Cup of Nation final. Unfortunately the Abuja stadium cannot generate the noise and passion of the National stadium, which was simply put, a fortress. No team fancied it's chances against Nigeria in that gladiator pit. Sadly, politics not only robbed the inhabitants of Lagos an opportunity to watch the SE but cost the SE the passionate support ( and pressure to perform) generated by the only place where Nigerian society is fully integrated. The failure of the National stadium is the result of petty politics by the ruling party. A crying shame. Perhaps the Eagles Nest in Akwa Ibom will go the same way if precedence is to repeat itself. quote author=Abayhormy post=41685325]Misleading headline, it's not for Lagos state, it's National stadium(Federal). Lagos state stadium is Teslim Balogun, at the opposite of it.[/quote] |

The stadium should be demolished and turn into a modern car Park where people can pack their cars and Pay, I suggest this since we have another stadium adjacent the National stadium. I do believe that this will generate income and employment. It may stand stupid but from my own perspective that should have been the best for now. |

The stadium should be knocked down and the land used for an entertainment complex comprising mall, park and amusement arcade. Some of the smaller sporting facilities like tennis courts, swimming pool, indoor sport hall etc should be kept and upgraded for members of the public to use for paying a fee, but the main bowl should go. |
