Why did you choose your moniker, mtor?
It's a coded disambiguation of part of my first name...
It's pronounced M-Tor
*modified*
As for the why
1. Initially wanted to keep a low profile on Nl it worked (my friends couldn't find me grin)
2. I think when registering Nl requested that the username must be a minimum of 4 characters
3. Love my name

I have that "References are available on request on my CV"

I had references on my CV, then an HR person told me to remove it and put references are available upon request. That the organisation you're applying for will demand for your references and that one's CV has to carry only one's details, nothing else.

See ehn, I am tired.

Me too don tire sef...

Sorry I'm asking this question. It's just for clarity sake.
When you indicate, "References/Referees are available on/upon request", how then are you to present the contacts of your references? Is it by getting a letter from each of them recommending you or by simply writing it down for them (the HRs) on a piece of paper? *** I know the writing it down kiniko might sound funny but, please explain.

I have not followed this process but I have a friend who applied for one Dangote Engineering graduate trainee post or so and was asked to bring letters from his referee attesting to his dynamism and teachability and whatever other qualities there is to lavish on him during the recruitment exercise.

Hello,

Normally, your referees are suppose to be on your résumé for Entry Level positions (0-2 years). But some HR personnel's would give you a form to fill your referees details and send them a mail or an hard copy attestation form.

I was in court one day, and there was this lawyer addressing the court. His wig and gown were old and faded and general knowledge was that it was as a result of financial challenges and not a status symbol.

However, as he was addressing the court, the court was silent as everyone paid rapt attention to his brilliant submissions. The man is respected among other lawyers when it comes to legal issues, but, for whatever reason he is not financially buoyant. Trust me there are many quite brilliant lawyers who are struggling to make ends meet.

Now there are some other lawyers who drive big, fancy cars and are well-to-do but, can hardly present their cases well in court. They are known among colleagues to be empty barrels and many lawyers often pray to have them representing the other side in court cases.

So this brings me back to the question; from a non-religious angle, would you rather be widely respected among your colleagues, but poor OR be rich but disregarded by your colleagues in intellectual circles.
About the labour story...don't worry, before I ruin my own appetite for the next few days

I don't know exactly how things work in the legal trade but you see that brilliant you talked about, I believe his brilliance would have earned him some attention from people that will want him on their cases...cases that wld have landed him some big bucks. That's what I meant by chances at not being poor. Perhaps he's just like Nikola Tesla and does some reckless spending or he's just not living like his pocket.

But I believe that there're unfortunate cases of renowned people that their career success don't come with equal financial success. And I'll rather not choose until I'm offered a third choice with a lil' good something from both sides grin So........thank God life has more than just those two choices smiley
