The Federal Government says the clean-up of Ogoniland impacted by oil spill would commence in the first quarter of 2016.
Dr Peter Idabor, the Director General of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), stated this on Thursday in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Idabor said that the clean-up would be undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Environment, adding that the ministry was currently meeting with all relevant stakeholders.
It will be recalled that in 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari directed actions to fast track the implementation of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) report on environmental restoration of Ogoniland.
The actions were approved by the President based on recommendations made to him by the Executive Director of UNEP, Achim Steiner and other stakeholders.

Another con job!!!!

Before some people start the jubilation the should ask these questions
1) how much is the cleanup exercise supposed to cost shell and fg
2) how much is the fg's share of this total cost
3) how much is the total budget of the ministry of environment.
4) how much is the ministry allocating to the ogoni cleanup exercise.

The answers to these questions will enable one visualize the viability or non viability of this exercise.

With d killings in Ogoniland, the real cleansing has started.

"soon" the most abused word in Nigeria.. Ogoni People are on a long thing

Great news, Nass pass the budget and let start holding our govt for their promises
