I have a simple question for you. Subsidy was totally removed from Diesel a long time ago, so why isn't the price of diesel falling with the fall in crude oil price under Buhari's 8 months govt?

You are very funny. You first lied that the price has fallen now you have changed mouth. The issue of scarcity can be resolved even without subsidy removal, stop deceiving yourself.

These guys in govt just want to look for means to embezzle more money. If Diesel price is not falling despite the crash in crude oil price then it means the masses are being robbed in broad daylight. And same will happen if subsidy is removed from Petrol.

Read the statement below:

The NLC president noted that the removal and the 50k decrease in the price of petrol were all shrouded in secrecy to distract Nigerians, adding that Labour has always seen subsidy as fraud perpetrated by cartels.

He noted that deregulation of petrol, contrary to government’s explanation, would make the price go up, just as Nigerians now pay higher for diesel and kerosene in spite of being deregulated.

‎”What is the actual landing cost, by now, we should be paying less. In 2012, when we protested and forced the price down to N97, the price of crude in the international market was sold for over $100, and now at $38, somebody is telling us that it (petrol price) has been reduced by 50kobo, it’s all gimmick, he said.

my own opinion is that the era of oil boom is over. when there was alot of money in oil, countries like saudi arabia and U.A.E invested the money made from oil back into their system, while in Nigeria some individuals decided to embezzle and steal the funds from our own oil boom instead of using that money to develop other sectors. whether oil or no oil saudi and the UAE will be fine oda sectors are working.in nigeria there is fire on the mountain.President Buhari has to make them cough out all this money.

I was against subsidy removal, but NOT for the sake of removal. I didn't trust the government of the day to properly Appropriate the money saved. Years later...I'm glad we stood against it. #DasukiGate

Stop spreading LIES and rumours.
It was not about the federal government but rather the 36 governors who also wanted subsidy so they can have more money to share every month.
The IMPRESSION that it was about the federal government alone is part of the PROPAGANDA used to chase Jonathan out of power by the CABAL who are now in power doing their CORRUPTION quietly while shouting about others in the media without any court trial and conviction.

Nigerian government must follow suit. If rich & stable economies with relativity manageable populations with developed infrastructure can remove subsidy, I see no reason why Nigeria , with 19th century infrastructure can't do same & spend the funds saved from subsidy removal to upgrade the infrastructure. Thank God PDP is longer in government. Nigerians would've been very skeptical that the money will go into individual pockets.

Confronting a drop in oil prices and mounting regional turmoil, Saudi Arabia reduced energy subsidies and allocated the biggest part of government spending in next year’s budget to defence and security.

Authorities announced increases to the prices of fuel, electricity and water as part of a plan to restructure subsidies within five years. The government intends to cut spending next year and gradually privatise some state-owned entities and introduce value-added-taxation (VAT) as well as a levy on tobacco.

....growing regional unrest, including a war in Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition is battling pro-Iranian Shiite rebels. In attempting to reduce its reliance on oil, the kingdom is seeking to put an end to the population’s dependence on government handouts, ‎

However, the timing, social, political as well as economical fundamentals are critical in changing policy gear of any nation!

You are very right in your analysis as much as we were right to say NO to fuel Subsidy removal then. If i may ask you, what did dey do with the little they gained from the 2012 debacle? During protest, we saw lot of subsidy buses which entered the thin air immediately the protest was over. Am sure they would have shared it thesame way Looter Dasuki and his boys shared money meant for arms. Dont restrict your analysis to your thinking alone.

The timing for this subsidy removal is not right because Nigeria is battling with 2 major issues that impact directly to the pricing of petroleum products and these are the devaluation of the naira and lack of policy direction on the foreign exchange market and consequently the scarcity of foreign exchange.
