Looks like the usual suspects or their copycats are back again, it is barely a year into the present administration and we are marching and printing t-shirts for what exactly?
There's massive work to be done and this administration has not even gotten into 5% of it and we are marching?
We should be careful not to create an all is well impression to this administration, our job is to put them on their toes, we should not tolerate mistakes, incompetence or outright impunity (the presidential BMWs).

Are we going back to the days of TAN ambassadors, Fresh air crew, bringbackourgej or the 9 million March for Abacha.

We appreciate the good work the government is doing but going on a march is pure sycophancy.

The tasks are too much on the ground and works have not even started.
This is not the time to sing the praise songs.
Let us know that sycophancy kills governance.
Let the sycophants keep away from this government so as to allow for good measure of jobs to be done.
Government should declare any sycophantic fellow as enemy of state henceforth.

No one is in doubt about the long way. I still don't get what is wrong if some patriotic citizens decide to urge the president on in his fight against corruption in the face of overwhelming opposition to it by those sympathetic to the corrupt looters.

As long as the govt has no hand in it, it's welcome by me and we should support it.
I won't have had any problem with it if it was a spontaneous reaction by patriotic Nigerians. I don't even think that the #istandwithbuhari hashtag can distract President Buhari (I think that the President would be the first person to admit that there's a lot of work to be done), but I have serious misgivings about this campaign.

When you see that a website has been created, tshirts have been made, etc, then I can't help feeling that the usual suspects are involved. There are people who will launch any type of campaign for any type of person if they believe that they can make some money, become famous, or make contact with people in government through their campaign. These people have no morals and are extremely dangerous and I can't help feeling that they are behind the #istandwithbuhari campaign.

@obiagelli, cool down... We all know PMB does not reward sycophants, which makes me believe it is far from the motive behind the march. The reasons for your concern are valid, but I believe it is necessary for Nigerians to support and ensure every case of corruption is executed to the latter and also stop corruption from fighting back.

This march will however not prevent responsible Nigerians from pointing out the gaffes of the govt.

@topic, it's glaring even to blind, deaf and dumb that Buhari and APC is yet to come to the reality that they're no longer in opposition but in government. Almost one year after assuming office, they're still blaming their predecessor for their dullness.

I can see where you're coming from, Obiagelli, and sycophancy should not be encouraged in any way; however, as others have partially pointed out, these t-shirt like campaigns you're pointing to, are actually reactions to vicious propaganda - justified or not - against Buhari and his government, even while the government was yet to take root. For as long as these t-shirt campaigns remain proper counters and don't turn into mindless, unprovoked street protests, I think they serve the purpose to keep the opposition from just taking over and wining especially the media/social media war...

Take for instance, an online petition that was started during the later part of last December by a lady, calling for signatures in support of the resignation and impeachment of Buhari. That online petition was eventually countered by another one, a few days later at the beginning of this month, by a man calling for support for the President. As it turned out, this one calling for support for Buhari became even more popular and ardent, and quickly garnered much more signatures compared to the earlier one that called for the resignation of the President. I remember making a post at the end of that dog fight, stating that the moral of the story is that may be people should not always start what they cannot finish.

Above all, and IMHO, I think the President has demonstrated enough resolve to be NOT swayed by sycophancy or pressure. A case in point being the way he insisted - and largely followed his resolve - not to be dictated to by, say, state governors, regarding who he would appoint to work with him in his cabinet. So, I won't get worried.

In summary, I agree with you that, NO, we should not encourage or allow mere sycophancy to derail the true intentions of the Federal Government. At the same time, the media war/turf should not be abandoned to the opposition, particularly now that it is the main turf the opposition has to with which to fight - and we can be rest assured it would be used for full effect. A wounded lion, they say, is an angry one.

Hopefully, adequate checks and balances are always put in place by government to keep both sides of the media war in check.

Op,u seem to miss the context in which these T-shirts were printed.
Some people were saying that the president should be stopped in his way of going about corrupt individuals,by way of efcc rearresting them to answer to newly found evidence of corrupt deeds.
So what the printers of these shirts are saying is that they stand with Buhari in his determined resolve to fight corruption and beat the crooks to their game of using legal technicalities and laughable bail conditions to evade trial.
Where lies the sycophancy here?
You mean you stand with BUHARI in his resolve to fight his political enemies? Because When Buhari starts fighting corruption, which I pray he does, even Tinubu and Amechi will either flee Nigeria or they'll be in handcuffs.

What is this one saying again?

What resources/part of our patrimony did people like Tinubu and Amaechi have access to/control over, that Jonathan with his cronies did not control/have access to 1000 times over, only for him to get most squandered? And to think that Jonathan and his cronies have not even been investigated/subjected to harassment one-thousandth of the way Tinubu and Amaechi had been?

Has any of those alleged denied monies traced to them?
This is probably the first time a thorough investigation was so carried out by d efcc that NOT A SINGLE alleged corrupt person has denied monies linked to their names and companies.Even many accused during obj era publicly denied any money allegedly linked yo them.

The presidency has
formally dissociated
itself from the
#Istandwithbuhari
advocacy group and has
demanded that the
group immediately stop
claiming any alliance
with the Buhari
Administration.
A statement by
presidential
spokesperson, Garba
Shehu, Friday, said the
presidency also
demanded that the
persons behind the
controversial
#Istandwithbuhari
group should stop using
President Muhammadu
Buhari’s name and that
of his wife, Aisha
Muhammadu Buhari to
promote themselves and
their activities.
“Among other reasons,
we have found it
necessary to distance
the Presidency from the
#Istandwithbuhari
group because its
premature and
ostentatious celebration
of the present
administration’s
achievements is totally
inconsistent with
President Buhari’s
philosophy of service
with humility.
“While the present
administration has
indeed recorded
significant successes in
its priority areas of
improving security
across the nation,
ending the Boko Haram
insurgency, curbing
official corruption and
revamping Nigeria’s
economy, President
Buhari is well aware
that his government still
has a lot of national
challenges to overcome.
“The President prefers
to give his fullest
attention to addressing
those challenges without
the unsolicited and
unwelcome distraction
of untimely praise-
singing from groups with dubious
and questionable motives,” the
statement said.
#IstandWithBuhari, which formed
just months into Mr. Buhari’s
tenure and began canvassing
support for the president, has
been enmeshed in controversies
lately.
In early March, its national
coordinator Mustapha Ramalan
resigned saying the group had
derailed from its original path.
“Having led the organization these
past couple of weeks, I have
reached a hard and inevitable
decision of stepping down as its
national coordinator with
immediate effect,” Mr. Ramalan
said. “If I must lead the
organization, I must be convinced
more than anyone, on the path we
chose for ourselves,” he stated in
his resignation letter sent to
PREMIUM TIMES.
He told PREMIUM TIMES that he
was not comfortable about how
the group was going about the
nine million-man march.
An associate of Mr. Ramalan,
Abdullahi Aliyu, also told this
newspaper that Mr. Ramalan had
asked for the group’s proposed
nine million march in support of
Mr. Buhari to be shelved but was
overruled by the group.
“Mr. Ramalan is of the opinion
that the nine million-man pro-
Buhari march should be postponed
because the government is still
trying to pick up and hence should
be given more time to justify the
nine million-man march. Not this
time,” Mr. Aliyu said.
Earlier this week the group was
also accused of receiving donations
from the Chairman of the
Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, Ibrahim Magu, who
had attended at least one of the
group’s solidarity rallies, and other
government’s agencies.
The director general of the group,
Chinedu Okpalanma, in a post on
Facebook, however denied the
allegations.
