hammerT:You sure say you get sense at all? Those tyres are all second hand tyres and are the number 1 cause of Road accidents on our roads. The Government has banned the importation of used tyres but Igbo men who only think of nothing else but money keep bringing in these Contraband items and endangering the lives of people. The soaps are covered under the import restriction because those are items that can be made in Nigeria so why would anyone import something as simple as soap and make our small and medium scale soap industries suffer? The rules were there before whoever imported these items embarked on this trip nd he knew the risk associated with it and now they must face the music. The Government would not only impound and destroy those goods, the owner is probably indebted anf would spend some good quality time with égbon Jimoh and Awon goons in Kirikiri Maximum. |

Thank God a new Sheriff is at helm of affairs at Customs. These northern borders are the worst routes through which contraband goods are brought into Nigeria. It is always a lucrative business for customs officers posted there |

I dont support destroying peoples means of feeding their kids and making ends meet. That is pure wickedness and stealing. Let us consideer those goods as somebody investment and money in trade, how do dey pay the bank if Buhari collect his goods for free? Here is the one Ambode did earlier. All this on the back of a free fall economy is spelling doom for Nigeria. APC is clueless wen it comes to Economic policy and management, sentiment wont allow them make the right decision to sustain pre-existing market and industry whilst developing even more. Nigeria is on a free fall Economy. Guy think deeply contraband is contraband how on earth with one invest on contraband goods and u call dat biz? I call it waste of money... invest ur money on a legitimate biz and have rest of mind. |

obailala:This has nothing to do with 'Igbo man business'. Anybody that knows katsina knows that these trailers belong to DAHIRU MANGAL. He is a well known business man there and ferrying contraband is all he does. He has been untouchable because of his close friendship with the former NCS boss Dikko Inde. He has more than a thousand trailers that ferry these goods. His problem started with this change of Costoms boss. |

dainformant:My question is why in katsina? I believe that this goods are imported into this nation. Why did the custom not impound it at the sea port or aairport? Why wait until an ordinaly business man some where trying to make a Living travel all the way to either lagos or onitsha or kano to buy this goods and at the end gets it consficated by the custom service. Why allow ordinaly business man to suffer while allow the main peole importing it to live in freedom and still will go to imporet it again and again. And at the end an ingnorant Nigerian will say that customs are working. Let the truth be told if sanity is to be in custom, it should start from the head. To me our Nigeriaan custom service are not doing any work as long as am concern. If u pay well u won't get caught, and if u did not you will be made the headline . |

hammerT:O boy what point are you trying to make? If the goods are contraband then they should be seized full stop. Until the laws of the land are applied to all regardless of tribe or religion we will not move forward. Well done to the Customs for this and I wish them more success in the future. BTW I am not a Buhari supporter, but when I see a good thing being done, I will surely defend and praise it. |

why must u always politicise everything? A contraband is a contraband irrespective of who is carrying it. Are u saying they should have allowed them to go scot-free just because it is a igbo man business? There are infant companies struggling to survive in Aba and these sons of a bitch are importing the same stuff into the country. Tomorrow, u will be shouting unemployment, not knowing that it is largely caused by the actions of these greedy lots who throw away the jobs to Chinese and Lebanese. hammerT: |

asha80:Very very possible. He was instrumental in making Dikko Abdullahi the former CG of Customs. In fact, he handled smuggling activities for Yar Adua's wife and her daughters. He also was in partnership with Farida Waziri and his smuggling trucks were sometimes escorted by armed soldiers. He smuggled by air too and his goods were automatically tax exempt as no customs officer could accost any of Mangal's goons. However, a new sheriff is in town. |

uchlukez:Oh.. so it's even an Hausa owned business after all?... It's really shameful and depressing how some Igbos because of their hate for Buhari (and the accompanying paranoia) have reduced the entire Igbo race to a laughing stock in Nigeria since May last year. It's really sad! |
| Re: Customs Impounds 3 Trailers In Katsina, Conveying Contraband Goods by obailala(m): 10:34am On Jan 12, 2016 |
okey559:..and you think the southern seaports are the only route through which things can be smuggled into the country?... Do you know Katsina shares a border with Niger republic? By the way part of the impounded goods are second hand car tyres from God knows where; tomorrow you get on a vehicle travelling and the one of the tyres blows at high speed and the worst happens, and then your family members will start blaming that aunty or that uncle for the tragedy. Meanwhile it was with your own mouth and your own words that you declared approval for the importation of the deadly tyres. If Nigeria must be good we must all learn to think righteously. If the government says there should be no importation of certain banned or substandard goods, adhere to it. |
