johnydon22:Johnnydon22, You're neglecting one very important piece of these mysteries. We are not the ones suggesting that aliens did this or did that. 1. The Dogons say they were visited and taught astronomy by the " Sons of the stars ". Why do we neglect that ? 2. The ancient Sumerians said in all their texts that whatever astronomical knowledge they had were taught to them by the Annunakis ( those who from above came). Why do we neglect that part? 3. The Egyptians claimed their gods traversed the heavens on the " Boats(ships) Of heaven", today's equivalents of spaceships. They also claim that pyramids were already there before the earliest Egyptian civilization. Why do we neglect that ? The bible says that the sons of gods( aliens of course) came down to Earth, cohabited with humans, interbred with some humans to produce giant leap offsprings, the Nefilims, Emmims, also referred to in the bible as sons of the Annakims(Annunakis ?). The book of Enoch details the names of the leaders of the fallen angels ( of course Aliens) who came down to Earth to teach humankind agriculture, animal domestication, metallurgy, architecture, medicinal herbs, as well as social contracts, warfare etc. When we put the architectural and building legacies, their advanced knowledge of astronomy and mathematics, and then add them to their own written testimonies, it becomes obvious that all these ancient cultures could not have been hallucinating from the same potion. |

plaetton:Oh No this is not what i meant. . . As a matter of fact i treat the Ancient Alien theory as a plausible possibility. But we should maintain that subject as a piece of scientific enquiry in the unraveling of the knowledge of our being.. Must not be taken as an absolute truth but a likely possibility and all the while maintain a healthy sceptic nature in order to fuel consistent study on these premises. I only object when we attribute some technological feats of that time to aliens feeding the fact that we don't really know how it was done.. |

Plaetton, What is your most convincing proof of ET presently? UFOlogy like other crappy pseudoscience requires more faith than anything else. Faith in something is not wrong but when such a faith laden subject is christened 'science ' to legitimize it you got tons of problems |

wiegraf:If you are going to attempt to look intelligent, go further than Wikipedia knowing articles can be edited by anybody. Are there any academic and peer-reviewed studies of the Dogon astronomy? |

vooks:There you go again. ![]() You guys have a difficult time comprehending things. So , if I say that there exits a preponderance of evidence for the existence of extraterrestrial life, for you that amounts to blind faith ![]() Just look at the words you have mischievously thrown at me in just one post. UFO, Ufology, Pseudoscience, Faith, Science. Except for UFO ( which means unidentified flying object ), neither I nor others used used the other words in our discussion. And yes, it was a discussion, NOT a debate. It annoys me that someone of your intellect( ??) cannot see the difference between discussing possibilities, with the anecdotal evidence available, and expressing blind faith, such as you have in your skydaddy Jesus belief system. To you half thinkers, everything is about blind belief or not. You are incapable of analyzing, speculating and rationalizing on very simple anomalies without invoking blind faith. It is doubly hilarious that someone like you who believes in a talking snake, talking donkey, chariots of fire with rotating wheels, pillars of smoke in the day and pillars of fire in the night, would ask for evidence of UFOs. Funny indeed. Let me indulge you. My best, my bestest evidence for UFO is presently the bible. |

vooks:This is quite stuuuuupid, I must say. Again, this obviously stems from very poor comprehension skills. The op's position is that since we Africans are beholden to worshipping god-in-sky myths from middle East junk yards, why not learn our own closer to home god-in-sky myths from our own African brothers, the Dogons of Mali? This was from where our discussions began. Now, I am guessing that it is your brainwashed safe-guard mechanism that kicked in your knee-jerk reactions. Funny that you should ask for a peer review of Dogon mystery, an African myth. When was the last time you asked for a peer review of christian mythologies, the bedrock of your worldviews ? ![]() Silly m.o.Ron. ![]() Tufiakwa! |

Intresting........ However it is extremely implausible that if they ever did visit Mankind, they wouldn't leave some sort of trail for man to follow. But hey, they at least left some mysterious landmark for man unlike................. ![]() ![]() |

johnydon22:I am in agreement with you that if the earth had stopped rotating on its axis as implied by some people understanding of that text, it would have resulted in a series of cataclysmic events that the earth might not have survived. The earthquakes would have been so powerful that mountains would have seized to exist in an instant and red hot molten magma from the earths core would have forced its way out in a super massive pyrotechnic display of volcanic eruptions. All the oceans would have poured out their contents in an instant, creating a tsunami that would have encycled the globe. However, there are other ways to make the sun appear to stay in one place without having to stop the earths axial rotation. One simple method is by using reflectors to illuminate Joshua's position with sun light from outer space. |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by Nobody: 4:13pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
dorox:Cataclysmic events? How? Explain the above. |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by dorox(m): 5:10pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
Reyginus:I listed some of the events that would result from a sudden decceleration of the earth's angular velocity in the second paragraph of the post you quoted. |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by Nobody: 5:16pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
dorox:Of course I know. I mean how? How will the things happen? |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by dorox(m): 5:51pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
Reyginus:Stopping the earth from rotating would require a tremendous amount of force to overcome the earths kinetic energy. The problem is is that the materials that the earth is made of cannot withstand that kind of force before ripping apart down to its core. |

dorox:What about tidal locking as a result of forces, gravitational pull, between a star and the earth? |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by dorox(m): 6:10pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
Reyginus:I don't fully understand your question, but if you are asking about the gravitational force exacted on the earth by any celestial body other than the sun and moon, then it is so insignificant that it is safe to ignor. |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by johnydon22(m): 6:32pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
Reyginus: Earth is not tidally locked, the moon is... So at the velocity of earth's axial rotation coming to a sudden halt.. dorox listed out the effects it would have on the planet...Nothing will remain as you know it.. |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by Nobody: 7:07pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
johnydon22:I don't remember saying Earth is tidally locked either. |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by Nobody: 7:12pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
dorox:I was simply prescribing another option that may open the room for the effects we'd get if earth is stooped. Let me explain. You are of the opinion that that which may stop the earth's rotation is a collision with higher energy capable of breaking apart the fragile earth. I'm simply asking if necessarily we need any higher force stronger than the earth if already we know that tidal locking will do it without splitting the earth's materials? Do you get me now? |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by dorox(m): 8:58pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
Reyginus:For the earth to become tidally locked to the sun, its period of revolution will have to decrease from 365.25 days to 24 hours. I have not done the maths yet, but it is safe to say that the force that would be required to accelerate the earth to achieve that kind of orbital velocity in such a such time will completely shatter the earth into smithereens. |

dorox:Why do you think a repelling force and not an attractive force is possible? |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by dorox(m): 9:06pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
Reyginus:I did not get your question |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by Nobody: 9:13pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
dorox:I mean do we really need a pushing force. A force that splits and shatters. What's wrong with a force that draws atoms closer resulting in a tidal locking? |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by dorox(m): 9:22pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
Reyginus:Can you tell me what you mean by tidal locking? I just want to make sure that we are talking about the same thing. |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by Nobody: 9:29pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
dorox:In simple terms, it's a situation whereby a planetary body maintains a similar posture as a result of forces acting between it and another planetary body. Gravitational. Can't it slow down the earth's rotation and if so why must the consequences be so? |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by dorox(m): 9:47pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
Reyginus:A Planet is said to be tidally locked to its parent star if the amount of time it takes for it to make a full rotation on it's axis is exactly equal to the time it takes to revolve around the star. The earth revolves around the sun in 365.25 days and rotates on it's axis in one day. So to be tidally locked to the sun, the earth would either slow its axial rotation such that a day becomes 365.25 days, or increase its orbital speed such that a year becomes one day. And either of this would require the application of tremendous force. |
| Re: Meet The One True Contender To His Noodlisness, And They're African by Nobody: 9:51pm On Jan 12, 2016 |
dorox:Exactly. My question is, how would this result in these cataclysmic effects like earthwake and the rest? |
