Nigeria is a funny country, I wonder if those that litigated on the matter were compromised , persuaded or intimidated to withdraw. It would be nice to see the conclusion of a legal due process on the certificate scam including 'misrepresentation of facts under oath.

On the altar of politics? How? As the Army Secretary, the officer was duty bound at the time to respond to inquiries and pressure from Nigerians about the Army's official position on the issue. Have you forgotten the furore it generated then ? There was no way the army, via the Secretary, was going to forever evade responding. He thereby held a press conference and told the truth. Were you expecting him to show us the same atrocious document that the Principal of Government college, Katsina doctored ?

IMO, it would seem the Presidents certificate and that of many officers isn't truly with the army. It has been a long time and the army wasn't really finicky about certificates of officers back in the day when boys, mostly from the North, were recommended and selected from school straight into the army without having completed secondary school.

It would be unfair if the army Secretary's retirement was punitive because he didn't seem like someone near retirement.

I ask again, "drawing the army into partisan politics?" How? Must everything in Nigeria be sullied by politics one way or another? An officer does his job in the public interest, on a constitutional matter, as he is duty-bound, and he is charged with being partisan.

The question is : Can the duly-constituted board also be said to be non-partisan after the fact? Especially now that Buhari is President and seems to be cracking the whip lopsidedly ? Juxtapose this : Did the Army Secretary lie by stating that the Army wasn't in possession of Buhari's Certificate especially when he was bound by civil Laws like the Freedom of Information Act and subpoenas to respond to issues of public interest? Heck, you seem to forget the ruckus this matter caused back then. There was no way the Army was going to clam up then.

*When he was 'playing partisan politics' for Jonathan and PDP, he said he cant find the certificate!

*When Buhari and APC won the election and was now in Power, the same slowpoke said "he has now found the Certificate"!

That is how not to be a military man!

The Certificate is either there (and no one should be able to find it) ....or it is there (and him and every other person should be able to find it)

You cant "play blind" just to sooth your Master in power and then "play sighted" when he is no longer in power.

Nobody is blaming him but you should worry more on "how he received sense" and suddenly found the same certificate, once right-thinking Nigerians sent the Otuoke Clown back to the Creeks!
