If the #tyre tread depth has reduced & tyre surface has become flat as shown in the figure , it indicates that tyres have worn out and it wont be effective in its function of holding the grip of the road while rolling smoothly.

The service engine light / Maint Reqd light.

This might indicate "Service", "Service Engine" or "Maint Reqd". It's an indicator that you're getting close to a scheduled maintenance interval. On some cars it's as simple as counting miles before it comes on, whilst on others it maps engine temperatures, oil temperatures, air temperatures and other indicators of probable stress to tell you when it might be time for new oil or a service. In most cars this can be overridden or reset by you, the owner. Your handbook will tell you if this is the case. If you take your car for a service, the garage should reset it for you.
Typically this light will come on when you start your car, and then turn off again as part of the self-check. If it stays on for 10 seconds then turns off, it normally means you're within 500 miles of needing a service. If it flashes for 10 seconds, it normally means you've exceeded a recommended service interval.

You can’t control the sun, but you can follow these tips to stay safe and protect your family on the road:
* Use your car’s visor whenever possible, lower and adjust it as needed.
* Use sunglasses with polarized lenses.
* Keep your dashboard clean.
* Clean your windshield.
* Increase your following distance.
* Reduce your speed to reflect the fact that visibility is compromised.
* Use Headlights.
* Change your driving route.

Most cars nowadays have a brake warning light on the dash. Its purpose is to alert you that something is wrong in the braking system somewhere. If it comes on, check your owner's manual to find out its meaning. The brake warning light doesn't have a standard meaning; it could be used for multiple purposes. For example, the same light may be used to show that the hand brake (parking brake for the Americans amongst you) is on. If that's the case and you're driving, you ought to have noticed the smell of burning brake dust by now. The light can also indicate that the fluid in the master cylinder is low. Each manufacturer has a different use and standard for this light. Which is nice. Because it would be such a drag if the same indicator meant the same thing in every vehicle.

How much should it cost to have my transmission rebuilt?
So before you worry about the cost of a rebuild, take your car over to your local repair center. They’ll check your car’s transmission operation and determine whether you really need a transmission, or if the fix is something a lot simpler… and a lot cheaper.

Tip: If you find a bird has pooped on your car, wash it off as quick as you can. There are compounds in bird waste that can damage most car paint jobs. If you leave it in the sun and the poop bakes on, you could end up with a dull spot in the paint.

Take Your Car’s Temperature
Attempting to judge air temperature using just your senses can be a tricky and highly inaccurate endeavor. You might believe the air should be colder. Meanwhile, your passenger a mere 18 inches away, is freezing, closing vents, and trying to stop their teeth from chattering. So before you jump to the wrong conclusion, remove guesswork from the equation and answer the temperature question objectively—measure it with a thermometer.

Most vehicle experts agree that an ideal range for the air flowing from your vehicle’s vents when the A/C system is functioning properly is approximately 40 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit. An automotive air conditioning thermometer is the best way to get this measurement. It’s available from any auto parts store or online and features a dial face and long metal probe ideal for inserting into the vehicle’s heating and cooling system vents.

1. Start the vehicle—wait for a warm day to do this.
2. Then turn the fan on high and the A/C temperature on its coldest setting. Make sure the “recirculate” button is off so that fresh air is being pulled into the vehicle from the outside.
3. Insert the thermometer into one of the vents, wait a minute or two, and read the temperature.

If it’s within the recommended temperature range and remains there, the system is working properly. If the air temperature is outside the recommended range, there could be a problem. With some help from a passenger, try taking the temperature again, this time while the vehicle is being driven and see if the results change.

Recharge the System and Seal Any Leaks
If there’s a problem, you’ll need to first try recharging the A/C system and sealing any leaks by adding some refrigerant and sealer. If you’re not comfortable with DIY, this is when you’ll want to consult your technician. If you’re going the DIY route—which we’d only recommend to those comfortable under the hood—you can purchase a product that includes a refrigerant to recharge the system as well as oil that seals any A/C system leaks through which the refrigerant might be escaping. Whether you seek professional help or tackle it yourself, this step will recharge the system with more refrigerant to restore colder, drier airflow; seal leaks on hoses, gaskets and O-rings; and add anti-wear additives to improve performance and system life. This is often the quick and easy solution to your A/C problem. If there’s still something wrong, it’s definitely time for some professional trouble-shooting.

When it’s working properly, the A/C system generates condensation that drains through the drain tube outside the vehicle. Problems arise when the A/C drain line becomes clogged with algae, dirt or debris and water can no longer flow through it. That moisture still has to go somewhere, and the path of least resistance is onto your vehicle’s floor—either as a puddle or some dampness under the floor mats. This continual moisture presence will eventually lead to mold and mildew, destroy the carpeting, cause odor, and possibly even damage vehicle electronics and the vehicle’s body.

An easy way to see if your vehicle’s drain line is clogged is to turn on the vehicle and run the air conditioning. Wait a few minutes and then look under the front of the vehicle. You should see water dripping from the engine compartment area and accumulating on the ground. If you don’t, chances are the drain line is plugged. Luckily, solving this problem is usually a quick and easy fix, whether you’re doing it yourself or having your trusted technician perform the work. After locating the drain line underneath the vehicle, compressed air is blown into the line’s opening, dislodging the blockage and allowing the water to flow freely again.

How to choose a car ?

Step 1. Assess Your Needs

As much as you might like to dream about what you want in a car, it's best to think more practically about your needs — not just at present, but in the future, too. Functionality should trump flash. Here are some practical considerations to keep in mind:

How many passengers do you need to carry?
What type of driving do you do: highway, surface streets, off-road?
Will you drive in ice and snow?
Do you have a long commute and, because of that, is fuel economy important to you?
Do you need all-wheel drive?
What safety features are important to you?
Do you need a lot of cargo capacity?
Will you be using children's car seats?
Will you be doing any towing?
How much garage or parking space do you have?

What else should be taken into consideration ?
Unless you're paying cash for your car, you'll need to think about financing your purchase or lease. How much can you really afford to allocate toward a car payment each month? The general rule is no more than 20 percent of your monthly take-home pay.
Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus(op): 8:43pm On Jan 13, 2016
Leasing and buying each have pros and cons, and how you feel about these may help guide your decision on whether to lease or buy.

For example, a lease requires little or no money down and offers lower monthly payments. But when the lease ends, you have no car and will need to go shopping again. On the other hand, buying a car is more expensive initially, and the monthly payments are higher. But when you pay off the loan, you will own a car that you can drive for as long as it runs.

Here are a few more factors to consider while deciding between leasing and buying:

Leasing

You can drive a more expensive car for less money.
You can drive a new car, with the latest technology, every few years.
There are no trade-in hassles at the end of the lease.

Buying

You have more flexibility to sell the car whenever you want.
You can modify the car to your tastes.
There are no mileage penalties if you drive a lot.
In the long run, your car expenses will be lower.

Have your mind — or heart — set on a specific car? Many shoppers do. But in today's ever-changing marketplace, there are always new cars hitting the showroom, and one that you've never even considered could be right for you. At Edmunds.com, you can easily research and compare similar cars to find the one that truly fits you best.

If you already have a car in mind, you should still review other comparable vehicles in the same class to make sure you haven't overlooked an even better choice. You can do this by choosing the same vehicle type, as listed in our Car Finder tool, and setting the parameters that are important to you. Once you settle on a worthy prospect, you can easily check for detailed information on pricing, specifications (such as for the 2015 Ford Fiesta), features and road tests. You can also compare vehicles you chose to more easily contrast the car's features and specifications. If, on the other hand, you have no idea where to begin, you can consult the Best Cars section of our site. The New Car Buying Guides are handy here, too.

Here is another tip for those who is considering to buy a car

Something shoppers often overlook when considering their next car is that one may be cheaper to buy but more expensive to own. Why? Even if two cars cost about the same to buy, one might depreciate faster or cost more to insure and maintain.

Before you commit to a car, you should estimate its long-term ownership costs. These include depreciation, insurance, maintenance and fuel costs.

In the past, car shoppers had to visit dealerships to find out what vehicles were in their inventory and if they had the options the shoppers wanted.

Test-drive

Now that you've found a car that seems like it might be a good fit for you, call or e-mail the dealership's Internet department to schedule a day and time for a test-drive. It's great to deal with Internet salespeople because they cater to informed buyers, and they're very familiar with Price Promise. By making a test-drive appointment, you ensure that the car will be waiting for you when you arrive.
Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus(op): 8:34pm On Jan 14, 2016
A car might seem to have all the features you want, but the true test takes place in the driver seat. You should test-drive the car the way you would drive it during your everyday life.

If you commute, drive the car in both stop-and-go traffic and at highway speeds. If you trek to the mountains, find some steep hills to climb. Drive over bumps, take tight corners and test the brakes in a safe location. Get in and out of the car several times and be sure to sit in the backseat, especially if you plan on carrying passengers. Check out the cargo space. If you plan on using children's car seats, bring those along to test for fit and ease of installation.
Re: Tips for car owners and those who are looking for a car! by CarXus(op): 8:51pm On Jan 14, 2016
After test-driving several cars, the choice should be clear. If it isn't, sleep on it. In the morning, you might have your answer. If not, you might need to take a few steps back and drive more cars.

While making the right decision is important, it's also good to realize that there isn't one perfect answer. Today's cars are safer than ever before. They get better gas mileage. They have amenities at lower costs than in the past. In short, there could be several good vehicle choices and the final decision is really a matter of individual taste. For more on the psychological aspects of decision-making, take a few tips from our "car therapist."

To export a motor vehicle from the United States , the exporter must provide documents that demonstrate proof of ownership. In almost all cases, this will be the certificate of title. The original ownership documents, or a certified copy, and two copies must be presented to U.S. Customs.

If you are exporting through a land border port, you must submit the ownership documents to that port at least three days before exportation. On the date of exportation, you must present the vehicle to U.S. Customs to verify that the car being exported is the one described in the ownership documents.

The car will be subject to Customs inspection at the time of exportation. If the exportation is by ship or plane, both the vehicle and ownership documents must be presented to Customs at least 72 hours before lading, at which time Customs will conduct its inspection.
