Nigeria vs Niger Date: Monday, January 18, 2016 Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh has said he expects the other teams at this year’s CHAN to come out fighting when they face the Super Eagles. Nigeria 1 Cote d'Ivoire 0 The Eagles will be in Rwanda for their second CHAN appearance after they made their debut in 2014 and finished third. “Everyone will be out to fight us (in Rwanda),” Oliseh predicted. “But we’re on track, the boys are in high spirit and physically okay.” Nigeria begin their 2016 CHAN campaign on Monday, January 18, against Niger. They will also battle Tunisia and Guinea in the group stage. Oliseh’s team finalised their build-up for the CHAN with a heart-warming 1-0 win over another CHAN-bound team Cote d’Ivoire. “The boys gave it a shot. Lets see what magic Oliseh can perform. A coach with no experience with any national team or a top club anywhere suddenly appointed as to handle a top team as the Nigerian SE that won AFCON not too long ago.... Even Manu Garba would no doubt have been a better option. Some decisions are very apparent blue-prints of the state of curruption and personal biases in the NFF. No Pessimism. 5 Likes |

Niger pick experienced squad for CHAN : Niger have named a squad of experienced players like Kofi Dankwa and Issiakou Koudize for the 2016 CHAN, which starts on Saturday in Kigali, Rwanda. Both Ghanaian-born defender Dankwa from Sahel FC and AS GNN midfielder Koudize featured for Mena when they played at the 2013 AFCON in South Africa. First-choice goalkeeper Alhassane Alzouma is the oldest player on the squad as he is 33 years old, while AS Douanes striker Adebayor Zakari is the youngest at 19. Niger will open their 2016 CHAN campaign on Monday when they take on Nigeria. Incidentally, they eliminated their more illustrious opponents in the qualifiers for the inaugural 2009 CHAN in Cote d’Ivoire. |
