What's the motive of bringing this speech now after so many years. This will not add anything other than arguments and tribal bashing.

Did you read the speech? From it, you can deduce that what Nigeria is battling today has been going on since independence. Corruption is the bane of this country. And some people will come out and have the nerve to say "Nigeria will be great again". When has it ever been great?

you see why igbos will never accept that Nigerians want them? The hatred is just so obvious. You need to expunge yourselves.

Kaduna Nzeagu should have arrested and prosecute the corrupt leaders that were asking for 10%.

Killing them was barbaric and an insult to the entire continent on the day the prime minister was hosting AU leaders (African presidents).

Buhari/Idiagbon government only detained and jailed corrupt politicians and today some people consider him a dicta.tor.

Yeah. The speech I know & have read about is actually more detailed than what the OP wrote up there.

When interviewed by the bbc reporter in 1966, his "juicy" speech led to the massacre of Igbos residing in northern states; which in turn, led to the biafran war.

Nigeria can never be one.
Had Kaduna Nzeogwu killed d major Easterners as planned then without allowing them to escape we will not be here now,yes others killed their compatriots in West and North but conspired to fail in d East! The failure was d reason for the counter coup of July 1966 and Nig has not come out of this, Easterners were in strategic and plum positions then but d singular "plot" degenerate to ds sorry 'marginalisation' being witnessed now, as told by very elderly papa, the inability to execute those marked out to be killed in eastern region caused the Civil war despite d plea of Awolowo to tread softly. Umh,the rest is history...

Orkar wasn't Igbo. Orkar was from Benue state. As for Nzeogwu, he might have been Igbo by ethnicity, but he was born and raised in the north, Kaduna precisely. I think his actions were guided by an honest sense of patriotism in executing that coup. He was buried with full military honours in Kaduna after the civil war.

The 1966 coup was the greatest mistake ever made in this country. We're still suffering today for that 'youthful exuberance' exhibited by that misled, misinformed and naive group of soldiers who read too much Karl Marx and listened to one too many ramblings of a Patrice Lumumba. May our youths never think the sword is the most perfect way to instill change.
