Patchesagain:Its now 242 Badgers, we added an extra 6!! also i don't think there will be any follow on orders...(Could be wrong!!) Anyway we have about 550 in service which are in good condition and were upgraded quite extensively in 2001 and another 650 odd in reserve that vary in terms of condition, where i live the Ratel's in Reserve are still daily runners, thanks to the Cubans. So if i were the SANDF/ARMSCOR, ill sell of about 400-500 Ratel from mostly the reserve stocks, keeping about 100-200 Ratel in reserve, Just in case WW3 or some sh1t happens ,a lso keeping most of the Ratel's we have in service, including the 52 ZT3. I think a 1:2 ratio of Badger:Ratel will be perfect. Also $20000 isn't much considering the Ratel they refurbished was the first Ratel to drive of the production line and most likely kept on driving towards Angola. We can easily sell the Ratel for $380 000 minus about $10000 for refurbishment(Average cost), that's still $370 000 in our pocket , it might even be more than we paid for them in the first place including all the upgrades. Now 370000X500= $185000000 enough for another 60-70 or so Badger or 200+ RG35 4x4 to replace our Mamba, hell its even enough for a single A400M........OK obliviously it isn't as simple as this and there are a lot of other thing to factor in, But Still!!!! |

MikeCZAR:there was alshabaab video of an ambush on a ethiopia convoy in somalia, after an IED immobilized the ethiopia WZ551 the rest of the convoy was just massacred.in this day and age building an APC with no V hull is suicide and most of this WZ551 are armed with a 12.7mm machine gun while alshabaab are mounting their technicals with ZU-23-2 anti aircraft gun |

If true, then, my soul is smiling down on me, and my heart is alitle bit satisfied(revenge) , next we retake back the town and pick up those we left and bring em back home.. Generals were locked up in DoD HQ the whole of yesterday, hope they were coming up with a new plan and new mission and orders (like how it was b4 joining amisom ) The camp that alkebab were taking kdf stolen weapons to has just been wiped out of existence 15 hours ago , no soul left the camp, i pray they got the same guys who took them, We have also had to strike our own camp that we retreated from and destroying anything and everything in it,

africaken:Well in reality V hulls are starting to be abandoned in favour of flat floor mine production which reduces the height of the vehicles presenting a smaller target to potential enemies. Examples of vehicles going into production with such tech is the Paramount Mbombe and ofcourse the Badger. The WZ551 can be armed with higher calibre weapons. No matter what system you have if your tactics or doctrine is ka..k you'll always get a hiding. 23mm anti-aircraft guns can slice open or do serious damage to almost all wheeled APCs in this world. |

jteku:LOL! ......... I seem to have this funny feeling that, if it were a Nigerian fighter you wouldn't be complaining. Most of the photos are private photos taken in Air shows. I can assure you that when our JF-17s come, I'll clutter and soil this thread with their photos. |

jln115:What i'm really after is the ski mask. I'm really fond of this new half balaclava worn by special forces. I think it was popularised by Australian SASRs serving in Afghanistan. I haven't seen it yet in Nigeria. |

MikeCZAR:the american striker APC which had a reinforced flat floor but after deadly IED strikes in Afghanistan, latest upgrades are coming with V shaped structure.even the latest Singapore army Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicle is being build with a V shaped hull, the design will still continue in wheeled APC which are deployed counter insurgency operations |

denisfidha:the Kenya MOD and KDF are so silent that it seems Alshabaab and their supporters are the one controlling the narrative.its really pissing me so much.we need to see footage of air strike,KDF counter attacking ,where the hell were the american air asset.with this so many alshabaab overrunning attacks on amisom camp, why dont we see them providing air support be it ISR or airstrikes.no wonder Ethiopia told them to pack and leave,we need to invite the Russians |

africaken:If the US were to conduct anything, they would most likely wait till everything settle down then lauch an airstrike on the mastermind and take all the credit... The sooner we realise our lives are for us to protect the better for everyone, its not like we can't do it, we just don't want to comit (knowing it'l citrus a fortune). While knowing that someone else will use thair spare change to do it. Either we do it ourselves or ship out, we can't stay in this limbo with no clear goal, can anyone even say what's the amisom mission anymore? There is no clear strategy

Henry240:A few years back you would also very rarely see a SANDF soldier wearing a Ski-mask/balaclava, but recently they have been popping up everywhere, from SFs, Parabats, MRS to regular infantry. Would be awesome if the SANDF issues a camo 2000 ski-mask or balaclava. |

denisfidha:we need to commit both kenya, uganda and ethiopia our air assets together, this war is not of one individual country alone. alshabaab have clear said in their propaganda, their visionary caliphate will reach all our capitals |
