I am all for self-education and learning the truth propagandists do not want us to know. I am with you on how crazy it is African nations do not support each other. What happened recently in SA was horrid. If African countries were to unite and support each other it would be a very interesting turn of events. The West has done well with its divide and conquer strategy- so all it should take is to unite and surpass past conquests.

Hope this doesn't take you by major surprise but I am not African. I stem from a very blended cultural background and don't have one nation/ethnicity to claim as my own. Please keep supporting African feminism as I am sure there is a great feminine force right where you are smiley.

i disagree with you on that, come to my maternal villa and see for yourself........mind you, those who came with military forces where slave traders and not missionaries, and av never read or heard that there is a place where christianity was established violently.............i hope you are not mistaking christianity with islam?
.
Benin city was invaded, its priceless artefacts were looted, its king and high preists forced out of their lands, and Christianity was forced on its people, and so was the English language, every where they went where its inhabitants resisted this tactic was repeated. and mind you their enforcement was psychological we defeated your armies hence our god was greater than yours.

Taking this stance is being ignorant of the fact that the missionaries did not see anything wrong with invasion and racism, if not why did their armies have chaplain attached to them and why where black Christians not allowed to worship in white churches in USA, even the now in USA white churches are separate from black churches, your stance is also ignorant of the fact that a lot of colonialist justified slavery because it was allowed in the bible, and that some whites learnt how to punish their slave ;Justly!!! from passages in the bible.

Christianity is a personal relationship with The Most High God, who like any father, cares PASSIONATELY for his children.
Christians are not servants of the God who identifies Himself as Jehovah Elohim, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the holy One of Israel.
Religion is human efforts to find God. Christianity is The Most High God reconciling mankind He created back to Himself.
God bless you...

does our physical demo or action have anything to do with the effectiveness of our prayers...
In order words, are my prayers not effective if I refuse to jump, lie down, beat the air etc?? huh
NO. Sometimes we are afraid to approach God with real faith. God want us to be bold and persistent when we pray to Him.What Jesus expects
us to do is to be shameless in our approach to God; to be bold in our
approach to God; to not hesitate to keep on asking and asking and to be firm in what we ask for.

Africans uniting and reeducating themselves is one the things I dream and hope for.

Sorry about that, had you tagged wrong there, sometimes I forget Nairaland's reach.

Of course I will keep on supporting feminism, in between feminists in my country while still low in number, have been steadily increasing in recent years, there are a lot more female executives, entrepreneurs and politicians (senators, ministers(our present and immediate past economic ministers are both females),e.t.c), than there where a decade ago.

Have a nice day, and please don't ever lose that reasoning and logical finesse you have, it will surely take you places, we need more people and more women like you.

As far as am concern JEHOVAH'S WITNESS is the best Christian religion.they don't do any of the rituals op mentioned.
As far as you are concerned, I like that ,

They may not have the familiar religious rituals, but after reading Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz, you'd start having second thoughts about your post.

This ish has been on my mind for a while, are we christians subconsciously engaging in ritualistic worship?

Orthodox Christians: This perhaps is the most controvertial yet documented. Recitation of prayers, processions, methodical worship to name a few.

Protestant Christians:Its more dramatic here. Its become a fad for us to add prefixes and suffixes to our prayers as we believe they add more vent and speed to the prsyers. Phrases like "holy ghost fire!", "amen......fire!", calling Jesus three times, Amen 7 times, halleluyah 7 times, etc. Are these really biblical?

What does the bible say: Jesus says in Matthew 6: 7-8 , we shouldnt engage in vain repetitive prayers for our father in heaven knows what we want already even before we ask. {paraphrased} .
Bible scholars pls come in and shed more light. Thanks

XTian was formed by roman not Jesus bcz he was sabattarian History made us to know that centuries after Christ the corrupt emperor Constantine forced the minority opinion of the trinity upon the council of Nicea. The Christian church went downward from there; in fact some of the creeds and councils actually contradict each other. The council of Nicea 325 said that "Jesus Christ is God," the council of Constantinople 381 said that "the Holy Spirit is God," the council of Ephesus 431 said that "human beings are totally depraved," the council of Chalcedon 451 said that "Jesus Christ is both man and God." If you follow the logic here then first you have Jesus Christ as God, then you have man totally depraved, and then you have Jesus Christ as man and God. If Jesus Christ is both man and God does this mean that God is also totally depraved? Well maybe the doctrine of the coequal, coeternal, one- substance, mysterious three in one triune godhead is deprived of any historical foundation tying it into the Christianity of the Bible and the Christianity of the first three centuries. However the historical information ties the trinity into various pagan origins. And yet most Christian churches continue to teach and believe the doctrine that God is a coequal, coeternal, one- substance, mysterious three in one triune godhead, and that Jesus Christ is God, and that the trinity is "the cornerstone of Christianity".

The pics portrays the two major Christian dominations : a Catholic procession and a protestant prayer. Those are the closest I could get without being offensive to any denomination.
Your problem is that u don't understand the exact meaning of ritual. Ritual is order of doing things. Bible accepts ritual 4rm Genesis 2 Revelation. Our God is God of order ie of ritual. He does His things ritualistically.

My brother in Christ, i hope you do understand what a ritual is in literal definition and I hop you also understand your bible. All you mentioned above except for 9 & 10 are biblical injunctions. I don't see how they constitute a ritual.
Oxford Advance Learners Dictionary. Ritual I a series of action that are always carried out in the same way, especially as part of a religious ceremony.

Injunction is an official order by the court of law which demands that something must or must not be done.

Mr man, is water baptism, falling under anointing, the use of anointing oil and mantle, burning of incense, burning of candles, taking of Holy communion, feet washing etc, rituals or injection, base on the above definitions?

Muslims also believe Islam is a way of life... not just a religion. These are just word plays.
You shouldn't ever believe anything a Muslim tells you. They have been licenced by Allah to lie. It's called Tiggya.

Besides, how is Islam a way of life?
What is the difference between Islam as a religion and Christristianity as a way of life?
Ask yourself this question. What is the relationship between Allah and Muslims?
Is he father to them?
Is Allah a friend of the Muslims?
Can a Muslim expect Allah to speak back when he talks to him? Can he ask a question and wait for an answer.
Can Allah, ever say to Muslim, come and present your strong reasons why you are making these demands?
What has Allah ever done for the Muslims since Muhammed introduced him to them?
Muslims offer blood ever day to Allah, what has he done for them?
Is their relationship one way or two ways?
Is Allah seeking them or they are seeking Allah.

Jesus is God.
God is our father,
Friend
Speaks back when we speak. As a matter of fact, if he doesn't speak back, you worry.
He gave his Son.
He is speaking to all the Christians today. Let one Muslim come out and declare that Allah spoke to him.
We get angry at our God, and he understands our frustration and consoles us, can the Muslims, boast of this? Can a Muslim get angry at Allah without being killed?
He helps us when we are weak.
This is the difference between religion and relationship.

Open a good dictionary and check the meanings of the word ritual.
You cannot decide the meaning of a word or that its use must conform to to puny understanding of the word and then you go further to ask "must everybody open a thread?" You only celebrate your ignorance OPENLY and should, perhaps, take your own advice "Must every one comment?"
Sir, I did open a dictionary. It just turn out you are the ignorant one here.
