My friend is intending to travel to pick up a 10 year old child.
She had purchased a round trip ticket online for herself.
However, when she tried to book a one way ticket for the child, she is getting the following message " Travel plans should be at least 1 adult passenger"
Now, my friend had cancelled the round trip ticket she had purchased.
She wants to book 2 round trip tickets - for her and the child.
Would the child be able to use only the return leg of the round trip ticket?

Please advise.

That is her stepdaughter whom she had sponsored as permanent resident. She is going to pick her up.

She says she has her marriage certificate and birth certificate of the child. In addition to that she will be carrying her husband later giving her permission to travel with the child.

What if the mother isn't in the picture given that the child is staying with the husband's family?

there has to be something legally showing who has custody of the child.

The stepmother would be raising the child with her husband, who is the child's father, instead of living the child under the care of the husband's family.

If the first leg of the return ticket is no show most airlines will cancel the return leg automatically. She should check the specific airlines policy before buying.
