In one word GREED.

The reason everybody wants to be in power, and will do anything to be and remain there.

The reason we r not satisfy with what we are or have, so we cheat, steal, outsmart, scam, decieve, hypnotise, etc, in an attempt to make wealth.

It is the chief motif for service in Nigeria. Little wonder volunteers organization are not thriving.

Is like everybody's brain is downwards, all of us moving with one simple slang " the end justifies the means".

Everybody wants to get his share of the national cake by whatever means.

That I think is the problem.

The moment Nigerians stop been greedy, 80% of our problem will be solved. People are busy shouting corruption! corruption!!, I think the only Nigerian who is not corrupt us the one who hasn't the opportunity to be.

Beginning from this forum, most people who are shouting, demanding dasuki's head, cheated their network providers to get data in MBS or gbs. That in itself if corruption. What gives you the impression that if you're given more opportunity you wouldn't see more excuse to steal because you're not caught.

The only hope I see for Nigeria, is that which will begin with the proper education of our children. But I again ask, where are the corrupt free teachers that will impart the knowledge we seek?

Except we learn to project selfless service over personal gains, and regard integrity than riches. Except we find the path if truth, righteousness and justice and learn to sacrifice what we have for good of another, We are far from the solution we seek.
Hmm!

for 100 yrs Nigeria has never improved. Nigeria is Nigeria's problem.

To solve it, restructure to true federalism or divide the Nigeria. Its not rocket science. Else you keep going round in circles as you have done for 100yrs nothing to show for it.

Robbing peter to pay paul can never be sustained.

People are asking the question why Nigeria has not worked as a nation but the answer is staring us in the face. We are running the wrong system of Government. It is impossible to bring the Yoruba/Hausa/Igbo man under a unitary system and expect any sort of progress. It's like bringing a Wolf,a Fox and a coyote together and locking them up in a house and expecting everything will be fine simply because they all belong to the Dog family, not a chance. You will come back to that house to find out that everything has been torn to pieces as all 3 animals have their own mode of operating. The best way to keep those Dogs is to section them in different parts of the house and give their areas of influence so that they can do their thing without bringing the house down. We must return to regionalism. As an Igbo man, I don't want Abuja controlling me. It is not for Abuja to develope me or fight own corruption battles for me. I want control my destiny, I want to control my coal in Enugu, I want to control my oil in Anambra, Imo,Abia and Ebonyi. I want to administer my own affairs. I want enact laws in the eastern region that reflect My aspirations as an Igbo man. I want Abuja to be a very weak centre with a ceremonial president who is commander in chief and a prime minister who is head of Government. I want Abuja to seek the permission of my region and other regions before it embarks on a detrimental economic policy that will affect me. It is only when we go back to regionalism and forget this 'unity based on oil' that things will move foward. When a region knows that there is no oil money coming and no money to steal, that's when you will see people exploring options and working hard. That's why we did well when there was no oil. When I have my region, any Igbo public holder who steals money had better leave Igboland for China because we're going to come for him big time. So, as long as we run this oppressive unitary system were we are all puppets of Abuja, were an all powerful president holds sway, were autonomy has been taken away from the people, we will have a Nigeria that will never work. We will have disenchantment, resentment, monumental corruption, lack of patriotism and even outright calls for secession. The people own the land, the land never owns the people.
