I thought someone would mention Scholes, Pirlo and co. There can be a debate because they are also generals of the midfield. But when you start bringing the likes of Lampard(a very good player & legend of his club) to the same sentence with Xavi I can see the reason he couldn't answer me himself.

Lampard is just as good as these guys and he has the added benefit of superior number.
His a football legend not just for Chelsea.

Bro, no one would ever berate the heroics of Lampard. He's a great player really. But, you can't still compare him to Xavi, the brain box of all conquering Barca and spain. I don't know how much you followed him and watched him play. But, I must tell you that I saw both played at their peak and Xavi is second to none in his position.

Lampard scored goals and assisted a lot, but Xavi is everything Lampy is not.
There is an endless list of such greats as lampard, Scoles, Kean, Rijkaard, Seedorf, Gerard, Pirlo, Lothar e.t.c. I still believe Xavi stands out as an architect of a dominating Spanish team that won the world cup and the European cup back to back, the architect of the all conquering Barcelona team that dominated the world for years. His intelligence in organising, coordinating, dictating play with maximum reliability of ball control and ability to find and exploit spaces is second to none. He's such a maestro of the game.
