It is simple.

Clear your land and make heaps or ridges if you like. The major thing is to loosen the top soil.

I would recommend a soil test but on the interim, if you could tell me the kind of weeds that are prevailent on the land or a snap shot. Then I can tell you an idea of the nutrient content of the soil provided the soil is not water logged or compacted.

If you provide the location of your site, I can tell you the kind of soil that is likely to be there without me visiting.

Go to the market, buy the Ugu seed, split it open longitudinally and remove the seed and plant directly on the farm or if you like to do nursery, plant it inside nylon and wet it every other day. It will germinate within 7 days and you can transpoalnt after a week or two.

Weed and use insecticide where necessary.

Harvest whenever you like.

That is a summary of many things involved.

God bless your hustle.

Sincerely,

@ Op:

you can use organic insecticide if you can go through the stress of doing it.
someone has highlighted the process here on nairaland earlier today @ Organicfoods.

i will try and copy and paste it here for easy access.

Having registered over 2000 organic farmers planting soy beans with a ready market this season, in the wwoof organic farm certification program. I will seize this opportunity to share with you the methods our farmers are using to combat pests. It's cheap and very effective. You too will benefit from it.

NEEM PESTICIDES (DONGOYARO)
Today I will be sharing information on how you can make your own organic pesticides that's very effective against over 200 pests with a common material in our environment called dongoyaro (neem)

Hope we know all about health issues associated with synthetic pesticides. So this is sure our best option.

STEP1: Get enough fresh dongoyaro leaves (neem leaves) and pound in a mortal, you can also blend it or grind it.

STEP 2: Soak the leaves with water and cover for seven days
Make sure you make enough for your Napster spray

STEP 3: Sieve the conction and keep aside.

STEP 4: Mix 4 tablespoons of neem oil in a bowl of warm water containing small amount of black soap (a teaspoon) make sure you have a good mix.

Pour everything into the neem water conction and mix properly. Use Napster spray to spray properly on your crops at least twice a month.

If you need the neem oil
1 liter @2500 naira, you can call me on 08034342637

note: i dont rob people of their work, so lets give it up for Organicfoods. i read it today and bookmarked it. Thanks Babami.

now, if you want to use the chemical insecticide, you can use any insecticide with cypermethrin asits active ingredient. it is very active with mild smell and environmentally save. i use it alot. though it comes with differerent brand names like DDFORCE and the likes. let me stop there for now.

your soil in ibafo, Nigeria is Nitisol in the FAO soil taxonomy using the Harmonized World Soil Database software. its a peripheral look though but it is relevant. the soils are fertile with high nutrient and deep permeable structure and it has 30 percent clay and good for plantation agriculture.

from the pictures you sent:

the soil has abundant N,P and K. which is the major nutrients you need for your Ugu farming. you may not need fertlilzer for the first 2 planting cycles.

because of marketing, you can use organic or organomineral fertilizers available. the ones i know is pace setter organic fertilizer and sunshine organic or organomineral fertilizer. anyone that you can get will be useful. of course these are also the cheapest that i know of compared to GNLD and co.

my Oga, i greet you @noblefarm.
ugu (Telfaria occidentalis) likes well drained soils.
once the water table is low but available for water uptake. all is well then.
God bless your hustles@noble farm,
sincerely,
