The polity is heating up continuously due to the evil deeds of our politicians. The masses are being trampled upon. But I know that nothing lasts forever. The day and time when these looting politicians will be taught a lesson is drawing closer.

I really don't understand some of you o. I am partisan(Yes) but my loyalty is FIRST to Nigeria before any other group/Association. Hence, sometimes(and when necessary) I create apolitical threads to bring up issues that affect us as a people. Shey na everytime person go de wail ni?

@Hinwazaka and @Chukwudi44 are worthy comrade irrespective of their position on some Subject......Just like you
Na so, brother. I do not at all doubt where your loyalty lies. My concern is, why do you sometimes rock the same boat as those two I've mentioned? Wailing is what makes politics worthwhile, only I don't understand at all why someone should resort to blind 'followership' all in a bid to spite the opposition.
That said, I'm waiting for a day when you'll write to the PDP laying down the 'should and shouldn'ts' of being the opposite. Some people, especially on here, are way too bitter to make sense!
I admire your strength!

My brother, we have to appreciate the fact that the menace of blind followership is not exclusive to some PDP followers. In fact, some of these people learned their trade from their APC counterparts that defend anything that associate with them. For me, I don't fancy such. I support what I believe that is good for the Nigeria(first) and the party (as an institution). This I think is what makes opposition interesting

Re: Unemployment: NASS Members Are Part Of The Problem by anonimi: 8:29am On Jan 30, 2016
OP is very correct.
I am sure that Superman Buhari will fix the NASS members bogus salaries, allowances and benefits that are making funds unavailable for our 36 states and 774 LGAs to provide:

- education for ALL our children
- tap water
- clinics and general hospitals
- good roads

that will generate EMPLOYMENT for our youths.

Paying them on the SAME basis as our N18,000 minimum wage will free up more funds for the FEDERAL administration to develop the power sector and improve tertiary education to further boost EMPLOYMENT creation.
Let us hope Superman Buhari finally VISITS Nigeria to fix these things angry

Yes, spoken like the real TonyeBarcanista. While you'll want to blame the NASS members for the rapid growth in unemployment, I'll me and you for what we're experiencing today.

Our leaders have come to know the basic and dearest need of the common Nigerian is food! That's why you see them spreading Rice and beans whenever election is fast approaching.

The mentality of we Nigerians have given our leaders the key to do and behave they way like. We can even see it manifest itself with the recent corrupt cases today, where many Nigerians still support coRruption just because they don't like the government in power.

So, until we delobotomize ourselves, I'm afraid we are going to remain exactly where we are.

They check the executives and make laws for the judiciary, abeg na who dey check them?
Re: Unemployment: NASS Members Are Part Of The Problem by phlemzy: 8:34am On Jan 30, 2016
No much effect can be made by making complains from the comfort of our homes on Nairaland, twitter, etc. Those dudes in the NASS need brutal force for them to tune in to the present state of Nigeria. The baboons that keep strapping bombs on their bodies to blow up innocent souls in markets, churches & mosques have never thought of finding their way to the NASS to show them their dissatisfaction. The cowardly acting militants in ND that blow up pipelines are not thinking of descending heavily on the very few that keep draining bulk of the nations resources all in the name of passing selfish bills. They have repeatedly showed that they can never review their hidden allowances by mere verbal complains on the pages of newspapers and social media. There is no how they will stop allocation over N10b to themselves annually. Obviously, something different has to happen!
Re: Unemployment: NASS Members Are Part Of The Problem by godfirstawe:
TonyeBarcanista:
Do members of the National Assembly still believe that Nigerians are fools? Even if they think we are, must they insult us by rubbing it on us?

On Wednesday, Nov 4, 2015, I was watching the Senate's planery when the issue of the rising rate of unemployment was raised by Senator Bassey Akpan with a motion “to curb the soaring rate of unemployment in Nigeria.” Was the motion meant to impress Nigerians or to deceive us? Are they really sincere?

NASS Members Also Part of The Problem
The Senators and their House of Representatives counterpart are part of the problem facing this country. They are a contributing force to our unemployment challenge. How else can one justify the fact that these people allocates N10billion and N120billion just to run themselves monthly and annually respectively? This sum is not only ridiculous but insulting when you even consider that the people that makes up the National Assembly are just 469 legislators and few Civil servants of the Nationaly Assembly Civil Service Commission that are not more than the population civil servants in two local government in Lagos state. More painful is the fact that the civil servants despite their little population are paid 'peanuts' compared to the Senators and Representatives.

They Earn More Than States Though They Have No Responsibility
This is the National Assembly that has very few members and ZERO capital project to execute but receives more allocation than states that has lots of responsibilities to attend to. For instance, Lagos with so much responsibility get approximately N7billion monthly, Kano get N4.8billion, Kogi N3.1billion, Ekiti N2billion. In fact, the NASS is even competing with Rivers state, an oil producing state that earns about N10billion monthly and Akwa Ibom that earns N11 billion monthly. These states have to share their allocations with their LGAs, pensioners, and all the civil and public servants in the state. These states still have additional responsibility of executing capital projects. Why then should we clap for the NASS? Funny enough, the NASS get more money than all oil producing states except Akwa Ibom and Rivers that they compete with.

If They Are Really Sincere...
Sincerely, if the National Assembly members are truly concerned with the rising spate of unemployment, they would simply cut down their immoral N10 billion monthly earning by 50% and establish empowerment fund where they'll channel 50% of what they currently earn I.e N5billion/month. These funds will be executed in ways that will create jobs, promote job creation in the society, and will be supervised by the NASS. This is a means to show their sincerity, not the mockery of a rhetoric motion that is aimed at mocking Nigeria youths and scoring cheap political points that they aim to use to exploit the masses in the next election.

Let me also remind us that this is not the first time motions like this will be moved in both chambers of the National Assembly. This National Assembly members have deliberately refused to cut their unholy allocation to create room for more funds for Nigerians despite several cries by members of the public. Even people like Ben Bruce that made lot of noise on twitter before his inauguration as Senator has gone mute over the subject.

APC and Buhari Are Not Living To Expectation
During the electioneering period, the APC promised annual 3million jobs and monthly 250,000 jobs. Five months into the administration, not a SINGLE job has been created. Instead we keep hearing more job loss.

As a Nigerian, I am very much disturbed with this rising spate of unemployment which has become a menace in the society. I that believe this issue is one that need holistic attention and not one to play politics with. Despite being in opposition, it is my prayer that the incumbent government get it right in order to move Nigeria forward. As for the Senators, they should look for some other things to pre-occupy themselves if they are bored instead of promoting motions to deceive gullible Nigerians into believing that they are working when they are not.

May God Bless Us All and Bless Nigeria

We don't really need to scrap the bicameral legislature. Part time status and placing them on minimum wage will solve a lot. Also their legislative Aides should be drawn from the civil service.
who can place them on that minimum wage scale or determine what they get.
they only can move that, but we knw its over their dead body.
If buhari cant becos of ths democracy rule shi!t, i have lost hope 4ever.
they are just a cabal that hide on constitution they dont care abt.
i hate to bring politics on ths, but pdp gave us ths wrong democratic foundation, obj time turned them into what we see coupled with gej docility to be that strong voice that gives party direction.
They have gone too far, they got the power and they only can ammend laws.
Re: Unemployment: NASS Members Are Part Of The Problem by TimeManager(m): 9:17am On Jan 30, 2016
First, Obasanjo turned the nass into a cash cow hence it would amount to asking pig to fly, if we ask them to go capping after that they had tasted so much wealth by the reason of greediness & avarice by a certain overambitious ex president. I therefore advocate unicameralism, the house of rep. Is just about enough & suitable to our peculiarity. Secondly, government is currently mapping out strategies to create large amount of jobs by way of diversifying, which would come to effect with the implementation ot the bubget taking off by march( i believe you know that). Besides, maybe other wailers would take a leaf from you,now that you critique and no longer wail.
The truth has spoken!
