A civil rights organisation, Global Centre for Conscious Living Against Corruption, has called on the Islamic Movement of Nigeria to apologise to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratai, over an assassination attempt on his life by the sect on December 12, 2015 in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The organisation also appealed to the Federal Government to consider the use of half-hijab by Muslim women instead of outright ban in the interest of fairness.
The National Coordinator of GCCLAC, Dr. Gabriel Nwambu, and Women Leader, Hajia Maina Abubakar, made the demands during a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja.

According to them, the coalition deemed it fit to embark on an independent verification and fact-finding mission to unravel the remote and immediate cause or causes of the clash as well as verifying the facts following accusations and counter-accusations by the two parties involved.

Nwambu stated that independent investigations revealed that the loss of lives could have been averted had all efforts to resolve the issue amicably not been resisted by the Shi’ites group.

While acknowledging that the clash led to loss of lives, he insisted that the number of those that died was exaggerated by Shi’ite sympathisers.

Nwambu said the right of Buratai, being a symbol of the Nigerian Army was grossly violated, adding that “an attempt to assassinate him was also made because he was ambushed.”

Nwanbu said, “We want Nigerians to get this fact very clear; based on our findings, the fact that somebody is a military personnel or an officer does not insulate him or prevent him from enjoying the fundamental human rights as entrenched in the constitution.

“We are saying he narrowly escaped death, and for those who have gone biased to say that there was nothing bad, that the army was busy killing people, it is important to note that the Sergeant in the US Marine in Wowood was murdered with just a knife. So, dangerous weapons of all sorts by the mob constitute a major threat to life.”

You people don't know how and why most of these Shiites were massacred. The casualties wouldn't have been higher if not for their indoctrination and stupidity. Many of them were not at the scene, but do you know what they did? They placed calls to those that were absent to come and join them so that they would receive bullets and become martyrs for the sake of Malam. I personally knew 2 breastfeeding moms that left their babies when they heard about what was happening so that they would become martyrs for the sake of Malam, and both were killed. To me i think this is the highest form of stupidity.

propaganda mouthpiece calling itself whatever title. look at the advice for "half hijab". half bread is better than none?

this advice for apology from the IMN would have made sense had the army not proceed to launch further attacks on the IMN's Hussainiyah, house of the cleric, cemetery, school, etc. which led to hundreds killed. if the entire story would have ended with the road block incident where few died, and the attacks on private properties and religious center where many more (300 according to Human Rights Watch and over 700 according to the list of missing persons released by the IMN) did not take place, asking for an apology would make more sense. i watched the video on the road incident, and the video does dis-spell the initial claim of assassination attempt on Buratai as nothing but an interpretation of events. otherwise, this group should explain how can people wielding catapults, stones, and sticks attempt to assassinate an army chief heavily guarded by well armed soldiers. if that was assassination attempt, i dont think anyone in his right senses would truly be asking for an apology from the IMN. we all would be calling for them to be dealt with even more severely.

Zakzaky rejected Jonathan's sorry, and El Rufai was making mockery out of Jonathan that Zakzaky rejected his sorry. El Rufai then went on to visit Zakzaky in a condolence visit in January 2015, in the peak of election campaign, inside the "illegal infrastructure" of the IMN that got demolished in December, 2016. this alll shows that GEJ was not responsible and did not give order for Zakzaky's children to be killed along 30 others in 2014. no need to politicize every incident.

where did you read in my post that i claim Buhari ordered the killings? i was only pointing out GEJ did not. you can also point out or prove Buhari did not. no big deal.
