Goodluck Jonathan

Today, November 20, President Goodluck Jonathan celebrates his birthday. He would definitely receive lots of gifts and warm greetings during the day. Apart from congratulating him, we decided to look at Jonathan’s presents for Nigeria in 2014 and some of his biggest achievements.

1. Terrorism and problems of the North

Several special programmes were launched: the Presidential Initiative for the Northeast (focused on improving infrastructure and economic growth in the region), the Victim Support Fund (a partnership with the Private Sector that has raised about 60 billion Naira to help empower and rehabilitate the victims of terror), and the Safe School Initiative (centred on creating a safe environment to encourage our children in the communities to acquire education). According to the Presidency, “they would contribute into development of peace in Nigeria.”

2. Water sector

The water sector has significantly improved. Latest numbers indicate that 67% of Nigerians now have access to potable water. In 2010 just 58% used to have it. National Urban Water supply programmes are going to be launched in 12 states.

3. Transport

Gauge line from Lagos to Kano has been rehabilitated. Port Harcourt-Gombe segment, as well as the branch line from Kafanchan to Kaduna, expected to be completed and fully operational by December 2014. Ports in Nigeria now operate 24-hour service, which has led to the reduction of clearing time and improved efficiency.

4. Social sphere

Nigeria met its Millennium Development Goal One on reducing hunger and extreme poverty, two years ahead of 2015 target set by the United Nations, and was given an award by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

5. Health

The Ebola Virus Desease was stopped in Nigeria. Realizing the imminent threat, the president declared a national emergency, pulling states, local authorities and the Federal Government into action. New Polio Virus cases were reduced from 300 in 2010 to 6 today.

Hitback2back:
PMB ideology is to crude for Nigerians. This is 21st century. Media trial isn't the only way if fighting corruption.

Free meals and the 5k nko?
you are invariably saying we are crude to ourselves. if there are younger and competent citizens then where are they hiding? if they cant be found then they don't exist, why cant we wait till 2019 to vent anger.

Personally PMB has not achieve much. I went to get my driver's licence and the whole procedure is corruption. PMB should fight institutional corruption thus blocking all avenues of corruption. Not this media fight of corruption, which in a law court he might lose. Afterall PMB allocated over #50 billion to the office of his NSA and that's part of the embezzlement process, they will say it's security vote and should not be probed

But Buhari, in the document titled, ‘I pledge to Nigeria’ had also said that all his political appointees would only earn salaries and allowances as prescribed by the Revenue and Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission.

He said, “I pledge to publicly declare my assets and liabilities, encourage all my appointees publicly declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for appointment. All political appointees will only earn the salaries and allowances determined by the RMFAC. I pledge, as Commander-in-Chief, to lead from the front and not behind in the comfort and security of Aso Rock, to boost the morale of fighting forces and the generality of all Nigerians.”

You need to make so much noise when you haven't achieved anything. If you have really achieved, you talk less and your achievement speaks for you.

The Wailing Wailers are of course the most disgraceful, colourfully shameless and with zilch credibility. The reason being that, everything they criticize today, they once cheered and supported. Their only anger with anything today is that Goodluck Jonathan is no longer president. For most of them, they would cheer the stealing of billions of dollars, defend same and even protest if you start the prosecution process of the suspects, all because they supported Goodluck Jonathan. They do not love Nigeria and even if they wail from now till 2090, those who know better will never take them seriously.
is your life now better off, ask your iyagba in the village and she will waile better.

In a public trial, d media is only d media (ie d medium through which the public keep up with d trial as it is happenin -live broadcast for instance). Have u notice dey dnt do that? Yes dey dnt allow d media into d court rooms (no public trial) but they leak evidence to the media (for media trial, where there is no defence)That doesn't make it a media trial.
Goin by ur definition, the soccer we watch on TV is a media sport. Or maybe during the live broadcast of independence day celebration, u call it 'media celebration of indepence'.
What r u even sayin mehn?
