The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra on Thursday threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable if the Federal Government failed to conduct a referendum in the South-East.

MASSOB and other pro-Biafra groups, including the Indigenous People of Biafra, are demanding a referendum in the region to enable the people decide, through voting, whether they wish to secede, or remain in Nigeria.

The Biafra activists claim that majority of people in the region would vote in favour of a separation from Nigeria.

In a statement, which was made available to our correspondent in Enugu, MASSOB said it had concluded plans, with other pro-Biafra groups, to disrupt governance in the country, if the Federal Government would not conduct the referendum.

The National Director of Information, MASSOB, Samuel Edeson, who signed the statement, said the agitators would fight the Federal Government with ‘everything’ at their disposal.

He said the group intended to instigate civil disobedience, and strikes, particularly in the South-East, and Lagos.

Edeson said, “MASSOB and other pro-Biafra agitators will make Nigeria ungovernable if the Nigerian government failed to conduct referendum in Eastern Nigeria.

“We shall use everything at our disposal to fight the Nigerian government, especially through civil disobedience.

“We are going to call for ‘sit at home’ in all Biafran land and Lagos.”

The MASSOB spokesman further spoke of plans by the group to drag former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the International Criminal Court for ‘atrocities’ he allegedly committed against ‘Biafrans’ since 1970, as well as other ‘crimes’.

These ants will just get squashed again, and return to their playing victim role.

They must be bored not having anything to cry for anymore since their hungry 'soldiers' were released.

lolx... Is it my eyes or what? I just saw Lagos in their madness. what is the business of Biafra agitators with any southwest state? We have warned these people severally that they shouldn't drag any inch of odualand into their foolishness, but is like they dont heed to warnings. The day massob/ipob will attack even an ant in eko will be the day Biafra and anything it represents will be crush.

Biafra owns Lagos my friend. Only igbo traders operate in major Lagos markets, only them import goods at the ports. If they do a sit-at-home, Lagos economy will crash to a 100 year low in 24 hours angry

In other words, if some sort of miracle happens and you get your independent biafra republic today, Lagos would become the capital of biafra, right?

Do You also mean to tell me that the Lagos economy is hinged on the bicycle spare part your ibo brothers sell at Ladipo market and the imporation of substanderd and counterfeit product ibo smugglers engage in.

I don't believe Biafra will work. Unless of course all the people in the territory are removed and replaced with a different people from elsewhere. It can't work with the people currently there
