In this interview with KINGSLEY ALU, the director- general, National Automotive Design and Development Council(NADDC), Mr Aminu Jalal, argues that until the nation’s policy structure begins to encourage local production of vehicles and discourage importation, the hype about Made-in-Nigeria vehicles will remain a pipe dream.http://leadership.ng/business/499210/made-nigeria-cars-not-feasible-2017-jalal |

Nigeria is already making cars!!!! We just need to encourage local manufacturing of the required supplier base like metal stamping and injection moulding. Ajaokuta Steel will also be key |

Watch out China, Nigeria will soon take your manufacturing jobs now your average worker demands a higher income and better Living standards. Africa is the next Frontier as greedy investors would flock in to establish companies all in an effort to tap into the cheap labor. Proudly Nigerian. |

I beg to differ... Build up our Steel industries. Improve Power so manufacturing and fabrication companies can arise. Designing and Building an Engine is not rocket science. Our mechanical Engineers (NOT THOSE UNIBEN ONES O!) can do that if tasked. The engineering of building engines has not really changed since the beginning of time. All we need is a company that can fabricate our designs. If you want us making Cars by 2020, its a piece of cake. Fix Power, fix our Universities (Close down UNIBEN) and lets start melting and fabrication iron, glass, rubber, plastic and steel locally. |

I don't get why this is news when there is no steel/aluminium producing factory, we've got undertrained engineers and modelling n designing also isn't encouraged in Nigeria... did they expect the cars to fall from the sky in 2017? I wish them luck sha... the future is bright |

MadCow1:If I go by your assumption, it means every car maker is an assembler. Because they get parts from other makers including engines too. Get sense ! |

MadCow1:Peugeot cars then were clearly marked "Made in Nigeria" Most manufacturers get parts from core component manufacturers and assembly, that is why they prefer to stay in an industrial complex where they rely on each other |
