when you say international driver's licence what do you mean ? do you have two types of driver's licence eg local then international ?

i have also heard the phrase INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT, do you have two types of passports ?

Hi, the international drivers licence is a different type of licence that can be used outside your country for one year and after that its invalid. Most countries are into some form of agreement thereby making them recognize an international drivers licence. its different from the normal licence being used in your home country. The IDP cannot be used in your home country. Its always for international use.

different for us zimbabweans in uk

with my zimbabwean licence am allowed to drive for year, i dont need to have a so called international driving licence to drive in UK but with my normal zimbabwean licence am allowed by UK laws to drive for a year, then forced by law (UK) to change to a UK licence

changing i dont need to sit a or retest like you nigerians (UK laws doesnt allow nigerians to change but they have to retested) i guess its becoz you use the american way of driving whereas zimbabwe we use the UK system

there is a difference

i can use for year if i dont want to exchange for british one, where as you guys you can only use it for a year then you have to apply for a provisional licence aka leaners and relearn UK driving untill u pass

with us we just send it to exchange to british one

Am david and i want to share an interesting story of how i was harrased by the corps in dallas texas, united states of america.
On september 2016 i travelled to the states to visit my aunt who was a nurse. I had my IDL...international driving license and also my passport.
I take few documents with me whenever i want to visit some place of interest. It happened that i visited dallas pioneer plaza on that faithfull day and i had an encounter with the corps.
The asked for my drivers license and passport and i presented it before them. To my suprise they said my license was fake. I was mixed in thought because i was arrested and detained by the dallas police department north central patrol.
They phoned my aunt and she was there as soon as possible. After two hours or more i was realesed and asked to sign a paper which i did..
To cut the story short..what really happened was that the agent that helped me with my international driving license was a scammer..
Am planning to return to the states by january 2020 and i have been able to locate a trusted agent for my international driving license .MR jeo. It cost me 20k equivalent. Incase you need assistance with your international driving licence call mr jeo 09012019966
