Well i have never had a dog and i don't think i will now or in future. I only admire them when very small but when they grow,i don't go close to them again except for one that was called PDP that i used to buy enough goodies for 2 yrs ago. Even with that,when it comes around jumping all over me,i was still not comfortable around it.

Dogs are a mans best friend and extremely intelligent.
When they jump all over you they are only showing love to you in the only way they know.
Just make sure you buy them as puppies and train them to know ypur dos and donts.
Never let them smell fear on you asthe owner/breeder and you are good to go.

Look for good vet. Or take ur dog out of town

Comb for a good vet and take him there, if its cataract nor infection, he's on a safe side as that can both be taken good care of. He might need surgery for the eyes tho. I'm sorry about Rugged's health situation, he will be fine.

It is 13 years now brace ur self and let go of your dog..let it be killed..Mercy killing. dont let the dog go through the pain it is facing...maybe a vet doc can inject it wit a non painful drug so it die peacefully

But the only advise i have, take care of Ruggedman till the end (which is very near). We really don't have competent vet doctors for local dogs.

The thing about dogs is that these mongrels live longer than those exotic breeds that sometimes cost 500k. Anyway, at 14 years, I think your dog is already too old to undergo any surgery and the vet will only suggest putting the dog to sleep humanely. It's just one of those things. Take heart.

My 13 year old Bingo, Ruggedman belongs to the latter category. He will be 14 in November, but he might be stoneblind before then.

Ruggedman is already 90% deaf and the only way we can get his attention is by tapping him. He has cataracts in one eye, and it is already spreading to the second.

Now, my question to the house is this: is there something we can do to prevent the cataract overtaking the remaining the good eye? *sob*

Also, he is always coughing. He spends most of the day coughing. The vet in my area is incompetent (he collected big money to treat our Innocent, but the poor thing still died) so we are afraid of taking him there. Most of the dogs handled by this quack end up dying and we don't wanna hasten Ruggedman's imminent demise by handing him to the executioner.

You should put the dog down in the least painful way you can think of. (mercy killing) I'm surprised it has lived that long..it must hurt, a companion of 13yrs slowly ebbing away.Just put it out of its misery.Sad..

Cataracts in humans are corrected by ophthalmologists when the affected eye is operated upon, and a prosthetic lens inserted into the lens capsule. Unfortunately, there are no veterinary ophthalmologists, so there is no way to stop the cataract from progressing. It's unfortunate, but he may ultimately go completely blind.

A 14 year old dog? None of mine have ever gotten past the 9yr mark. That dog should be euthenized. Only a dishonest vet will charge charge you anything for a dog that is inevitably going to die pretty soon. Pls put the animal out of his misery.
