OP I suggest you go out of your way to find a good vet for your dog even if it means going to another city.

So sorry Ishilove. I have refrained from getting a pet as I doubt i would be able to handle the emotional void caused by their deaths. The fact of the matter is Ruggedman has tried. However take him to another vet and see if anything can be done to salvage the situation else, it may be time to start considering the inevitable - euthanasia.

I really feel for you and those making inconsiderate comments have no clue. There is a reason they say a dog is mans best friend. We lost ours 3 years ago due to sickness, though we now have a Amstaff. See pics when she was 20 weeks and 1 year. She is now 3.

I think your dog may be suffering from diabetes due to old age . Especially if its that old which is quite old for that type to be honest. In human years, itc comparable to 72yrs. Thing would be to control the diet giving slow carbs. As for the cataracts, if its truly caused by diabetes there is little you can do, if its not it wont spread like that.

Its very easy to diagnose, small tap of blood and they should be able to tell you.

If it gets worse dont let the dog suffer to much, let go no matter how painful.

As for you dog that is going blind by the day, my sincere advice is that you take it to a Calabar vet. Make sure it's a Calabar vet o. They can handle all dog diseases. That is their area of expertise.
The earlier you do this, the better because the more you waste time on nairaland, the more your dog's value would depreciate because it would lose the other eye soon.
