What Are The Social Responsibilities Of Nigerian Celebrities? by Rapmoney(m): 8:38pm On Feb 15, 2016 |
This thread focuses on Nigerian celebrities in the Performing Arts in particular and all Nigerian celebrities in general! The thread is also free from envy or anything close to it; rather, it is a clear call for community development and provision of social responsibility to the people, especially, the poor ones in our immediate society by our celebrities. Being popular and rich through music, comedy or movies in a society where majority of the citizens barely feed or clothe well is surely a privilege that one gets by God's grace, hardwork and talent. That cannot be disputed but on a serious note, one should not forget the people in the society...their collective patronage and loyalty have taken you to where you are today. How do you pay them back? ![]() It doesn't just end in establishing mushroom NGO's funded by unreliable sources only for the NGOs to go extinct within months! Individual initiatives would be better felt and appreciated. We should not only be seeing celebs posing with expensive cars in the news; we should also be seeing and hearing them carrying out developmental projects in their society. I wonder if this would be possible because even Nollywood 'stars' do not help themselves...if they can't help themselves, how can they help the community? ![]() This brings us to the question: 'What are the social responsibilities of our celebrities? Share your views... ![]() |
