Listen to all her songs and you would see the difference. Not everything hinges on vocal prowess and noise- music composition is also considered by this folks, not to talk of the fact that most Nigerian songs are mainly enjoyed for their beats and swag, not for lyrics and Music composition.

Last of all, please remove Simi from that list, she is nowhere close to what the likes of Asa produce.

95% of our songs are wester styled. Many of use don't really listen to ASA. Enter village and you will see they know the usual suspects. Not ASA. I believe their awards must be connected to our local awards. How many awards did ASA and bez get recently locally? If we no give them, why dem go give them?

I know for sure that there are some good Nigerian musicians. And they will take the award sooner or later . Remember femi kuti was nominated some time back.. Yes, but then her song is not that close to what Bez sings ( I mentioned Bez because to me Asa is the best out of those artistes mentioned). Her songs are not too different from what Adekunle Gold sings. You will agree with me that both songs are not up to Asa's standard. The only thing some folks will say is that their songs get more airplay than Asa but then that's expected.

who said our music is crap? Just because there was no grammy for a Nigerian artist doesnt mean you should condemn a winner. Everything isn't about race, she is an African and you should be proud of that. She is very much respected worldwide.

Can u explain this clearly, back to my point, when u compare modern day American music to the days of Presley, Beatles, Elton John and the best artist of the 80s PRINCE, you discover that it is also crap, Taylor Swift, OneDirection, Meghan Trainor, etc are all manufactured pop artists yet Nigerians dont give them flack for being fake...Kamasi Washington had the best album of last year, yet he was not even nominated...the standards of music nowadays is bad, dont blame the artists blame the listeners.Kidjo is not the best artist in Africa, Lady Smith album was mindblowing yet they didnot win.
