Ibadan—The Olubadan-in-Council has in a letter, warned Dr Alex C. Alozie to stop parading himself as holder of the title of Eze Ndigbo of Igbos in Ibadan and Oyo State.

Meantime, Alozie yesterday protested against the letter

The letter addressed to the President General, Ohaneze Ndigbo, marked LL8co/02/16 and signed by one Oladepo Abiodun Esq states that “Our instruction is to make it clear to you that your action and that of your group you purport to represent in Ibadan and Oyo State in general amounts to an act of insubordination, illegality and a calculated attempts to cause chaos and breed a state of anarchy in the state.”

But, responding Dr. Anozie said, “We had informed the whole world in the past of a high court judgment over the Igbo leadership tussle in Ibadan and Oyo State which favoured Dr. Alex Anozie and our association, ACDA, affiliate of Ohaneze worldwide.

Making reference to the letter from the council, he said the documents referred to were documents that featured between 1997 and 2010 when most people were confused by the deceit of his opponents.

While addressing newsmen at his ‘palace’ in Ibadan yesterday, he said “ the State High Court in Ibadan had ruled on the 18th of February 2014 which no other court has vacated, that only me, Dr Alex Alozie should be paraded as Eze Ndigbo of Ibadan and Oyo State.”

He further stated that “ it is quite unfortunate that most people were confused through disgruntled individuals who go about deceiving people and parading themselves against the judgment of the High court in spite of the fact that the judgment of the High Court has neither been vacated, nor have they got any stay of execution against the case.”

He further clarified that the title of Ezendigbo, Onyedu Ndigbo, Onyeisindigbo or Ochiigbo all mean the same thing in Igbo expression and that not withstanding anybody or group is at liberty to refer to him as any of those mentioned Igbo titles.

Eze, Oba,Igwe, Emir etc These titles are for traditional rulers in their domain; does that mean the Igbo cannot be under a non Igbo traditional ruler?

Why are the ibos the only one that always have issues with their host wherever they go? There are other tribes in Ibadan also but one wouldnt hear nonsense such as this from them. Why must it always be the ibos? Why must you fight over Kingship title in another mans Kingdom?

There is a large Lebanese and Syrian community in Ibadan. There are Hausas, Calabars, Ijaws, Idomas, Tivs, Ogonis and all other ethnic group working and residing in Ibadan, but they all respect the custom of their host onlike the ibos who would always want to upset others

There cannot be two Kings in a particular Kingdom.

The ibos are fighting for biafra. They want to break away from Nigeria yet they still want to install kings in other parts of Nigeria.

The ibos unlike all other tribes had no Kings prior to the coming of the British colonialist. It was the colonialist that appointed warrant chiefs for the ibos, hence they still do not have a full cultural grasp of what royalty and Kingship is all about.

The ibos are the only one that always have issues with their host. First it was with the Oba of Lagos, later it was with the Deji of Akure and now it is with the Olubadan.

Read the comment below me and imagine the affront, imagine the audacity, imagine the justification of imposing your own culture in domains that are not your just because of the excuse that your people reside there. This was one of the factors that precipitated the pogrom against the ibos in the North and subseqtently the civil war that led to the slaughter of thousands of ibos. Unfortunately, the ibos havent learnt from the mistake of their fathers.

That is our way of life,our culture is not rigid and this is one Nigeria. we install Eze ndi Igbo in diapora to maintain our culture. If they are not comfortable with that,they should call for disintegration. As far as there is one Nigeria,we shall continue installing Eze ndi Igbo outside our territories

I dont why we made issues out of nothing the eze ndigbo of a thing is just ceremonial title, the title bearer is still subject to the laws and customs of the host community.
So no need to blow the whole thing out of proportion.

You can have that title in Lagos but not in Oyo, these people self always go beyond their limit.

Can never understand why yorubas feel extremely insecure (almost to the point of wetting their pants) when issues concerning Igbos arise?
Is this not the so-called unity in diversity. You got to accept the other tribes and their ways of life (so long as that way of life obeys the Nigerian Constitution) or you should call for a split if you are truly honest about rejecting them. Its not a favour and it's not to be begged for.
In all the cities in the world there's always an Eze Ndigbo. But it's only in Yoruba land that people shiver, pee and poo upon hearing it.
in igbo land, there are Serikis all over the cities and nobody cares despite the fact that there could be occasional tribal clashes between Igbos and Hausa's which also happens nationwide.
There are also Serikis in Yoruba land
Tomorrow, out of arrogance, someone will start telling us that they are very accommodating, simply because Lagos was made the nation's capital without our consents and was therefore developed with everyone's money. The attendant result is a ripple effect that also spread to neighbouring Yoruba lands. It has nothing to do with being nice , hardworking or tolerant because any other part of Nigeria , including the North East,that was made the capital would still have the semblance of what u see now in the West.
Some will raise the usual nauseating poo that people easily buy land in the West. That's the most asinine argument anyone has ever heard. How does selling land as business to make a living show that you love the buyer? Why not give it out for free as a sign of love or friendliness? Where will u not buy land in any part of this world if u have your money and can afford it?

It has always been illegal outside of Igboland. Igbos is diaspora should learn to soft pedal and take things easy. With this singular act, some would say they are not wanted, neither are they loved, which is not true. A little respect should be exhibited here, hence it becomes a case of "being giving a yard and then taking a mile".

I still maintain that this Eze in another man's land syndrome is a slight not just to the host community, but to the Igbos. It is not out of place for a people to unite as a group in a host community and elect a leader, but parading oneself as a king (with palace) seeking for recognition and respect is wrong. They should stop Igbo kingship outside the shores of Igboland. Believe me, they know nothing about Igbo tradition and values, but are bunch of unrefined greedy folks seeking personal aggrandizement with less regard to Igbo values. Very soon you will hear that one ezendigbo was caught doing so so and so.

I think it's a kind representative for igbo people in those states he won't have a palace like a real Igwe just a local title, but na dem know I careless, the naira is sky rocketing we need our pastors/reverend to channel their prayers on it
