Cool FM On-Air Personality, OAP, Freeze has advised Onyeka Onwenu to stop inciting inter-ethnic disaffection with her recent claims.

Onwenu, renowned singer and actress, had in a statement released yesterday in reaction to her sack from a federal appointment, insinuated that it was as a result of her tribal background.

Onwenu had said, “I was abused, targeted and maltreated for being an Igbo woman."


Freeze reacted to this on his Instagram page @daddyfreeze by requesting the musician-cum-politician to stop creating unnecessary tension in an already volatile situation, as such utterance will not help matters.

Freeze said, “Dear Madam, those statements like “Buhari sacked me because I am Igbo” would only serve to fuel more hatred and animosity.

“You were not sacked because you are Igbo, stop creating unnecessary tension in an already volatile situation you are not helping matters.

“If Nigeria goes to war, poor, innocent and helpless people would suffer. Syria has a population of 25 million people, far less than LAGOS state alone yet the world can’t handle its refuge crisis. I shudder to imagine our own.

“Sit at home and face your issue without dragging an innocent nation into your personal battle.

“How long did you really expect to eat under 2 different regimes and what really did you have to offer? – just a thought.

“Sorry about the typos guys I’m really not happy about this,” the radio personality concluded

Even tho she didnt state it clearly that she was sacked because she is igbo, it is clear that her language set the tone to whip up tribal sentiments. Truth is she was not performing cos a lot of people didn't know that such a popular person held any government appointment until her sack.

Onyeka Onwenu never said she was sacked because she was Igbo, after reading her original statement, it was clear she never said that, rather it's some stupid Nigerian blogs that twisted the story to suit their ethnic narrative.

Onyeka only said she had subordinates from a certain part of the country who gave her a hard time in the line of her duty because she was Igbo. She wasn't referring to her disengagement.

Even Freeze could not see this. Stupid people!

Ignorant mumu Nigerians with all their MA, MSc PhD (that includes Onyeka), in politics, when a different party defeats the incumbent, there are THOUSANDS of positions that will see a change in personnel. The fact that this government is incompetent and unprepared and hence let the Onyekas of this world stay almost a year after their benefactor has been defeated doesn't mean it is their right to continue. Freeze should shut up. The Lagos-Ibadan-Expressway media know how to twist spoken words on their head. Onyeka Owenu never said she was sacked for being Igbo, she even said she took her sacking in good faith and was grateful for the opportunity to serve. What Onyeka said was that her time in office was frustrated by a section of the country who feel that they own Government. She was victimised for being Igbo. I have had the opportunity to visit some these parastatals in Abuja and what is happening there is a disgrace. You walk in a Goverment office and you think you are inside someone's bedroom. People chatting and socialising like they are in a market place, half of them not even in for work. Those that are in will look out for which of th 3 main ethnic group you belong to and treat you accordingly and woe betide you if you are from one of the minorities, you don't even exist. But to be realistic, I don't think the woman is just saying her tribe was why she was sacked, even reading through it I didn't see where she stated it clearly that she was sacked because of her tribe. Me think She only used the opportunity of her being sacked to explain the tribal war she was facing all along.
Considering she was not the only one sacked and its a new government now "No sane person will come out and say her sack was due to her tribe"

Just as someone asked yesterday, what was onyeka onwenu's achievement as the DG of the NCWD? Most people didnt even know she held that position until she was sacked. Instead of her to higlight her gains at the helm of affairs in the organisation, she restorted to the usual victim card

In your feeble attempt to correct what you perceive as the 'victim card' allegedly played by the Igbos, u ended up exacerbating the whole issue by your spiteful and hatred laced reference to the igbos as 'these people'. The earlier Nigerians realize that it is us (Nigerians of all tribes and ethnic groups ) on the one side against the corrupt elite group who have subjugated and promoted the gospel of ethnicity and tribalism for their selfish gains on the other side, the better for all of us. My brother, may God almighty bless you and your generations to come! Your education was not in vain. Since the whole Onyeka "I was sacked by Buhari because I was Igbo" saga started trending on the social media, I quickly rushed and read the transcript of her statement, but I was shocked find out that in no sentence or paragraph did she say that Buhari sacked her because she was Igbo. I only saw a woman who was complaining about the tribal in fighting in her office. From her statement, it was clear she was refering to some section of her staff who is disobeying her leadership! And you know when some group of people fight you in office, they normally resort to calling your tribe anytime they want to talk about you. It's common in such situation to hear "that Igbo woman", "that Yoruba woman" or "that Hausa woman" etc. It is shocking that people have wickedly turned this into the trending narrative that the Igbos always play the victim mentality. More worrisome is the fact that people neglected all the problems she enumerated that is bedevilling that organisation to concentrate on non exiting claim. This has really show that tribalism and ethnic hatred have eaten so deep into our fabrics that it may only take a little for it turn to something untoward!
