Seems the way this stuff works isn't by downloading the latest version..... I have two different Whatsapp apps on my phone, the official one I updated to the latest version from Playstore, and I still haven't started seeing the blue ticks.....

But on the other version which is significantly older just started showing me blue ticks this morning.... Hmmm....
