Ricky Tarfa only wants to do gra-gra for EFCC. He is corrupt even by his admission that he sent the N225k to the judge. He should tell Nigerians the names of contributors, how much each contributed, by cash or cheque, how he got the recipient judge's bank account number and why transfer rather than sending the money to the beneficiary through one of his Assistants? The N225k 'contribution' is even curious as N250k would have been more ideal. Even if he is discharged by the government court, he is still deemed guilty in the people's court and God's court!! Shame on those 90 SANs that followed him to court in solidarity. They are saboteurs in the temple of justice!!!

They validate the drift of folks who say "S.A.N." translates to "Shameless Advocate of Nigeria"!

;EFCC is a very corrupt organization. How can you tender illegally obtained exhibits in a court of law? They are just fooling Nigerians with fake anti corruption charges. Now I am waiting to see how they'll wriggle out of this..... I think someone should sue EFCC for wasting taxpayers money and causing unnecessary and unneeded media distractions.

Did I hear you say illegally obtained evidence? Go and study the evidence act properly.

Lawyers in the house, what is the difference between giving money for burial, school fees, wedding, pocket money, dash, naming ceremony, house warming, owambe to someone who is going to preside over your case in court the next day?

The Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers in Nigeria deprecate anything at all capable of making a judicial officer disinclined to doing justice between all manner of men without ill-will or affection. That job is a calling, a lifestyle! It has zero level tolerance for indiscretion.

I take it the judge is of the Islamic faith.

If so, I believe the burial is usually done expeditiously (24 -48hrs).

I think someone is being conservative with the truth.

Also, what a terrible person the judge would be not to acknowledge some thanks for the support towards his father's burial.

Lastly, what correspondence took place for Tarfa to know the judge's bank details? Abi he don sabi the account tay tay?

thank you.odubela is an ijebu man from ikenne remo so he doesnt know the muslims northerners that the judge is and his late dad do not celebrate funerals or run up expenses and within 24 hours the dead man has died and buried.

i fear for my good friend odubela, there is a point the fly following raw suya must depart from the suya or else it will quench in fire.let us assume that legally speaking this info was illegally gotten after tafa's fone was seized, what difference will it it make if during the illegal search of the fone ,it was discovered and revealed that he was fucking another man's wife?.will he still not suffer the consequences of that fact having been revealed to the husband of that woman though legally inadmissible in court?.

They didn't figure the whole thing out very well from the start though some of us kept warning the tarfa to eat the humble pie and downscale the drama, rather he upscale with 92 SANS and ignore the age long proverb that those in glasshouse must not throw stones, now efcc has again brought out the 2006 case where he was arraigned for moneylaundering and was lucky to get a discharge and not an acquittal meaning the case can still be reopened if efcc has beta facts and beta motivation.

take it or leave it ,all this boils down to negative effect and does not in any way enhances a reputation.Learnt a motion to call all lawyers out on strike cos of this was roundly defeated recently.i jus dey laugh.strike for wetin?.person wey no chop gbi fit die gbi ?.wetin concern agbero with overload?

EFCC knows how to bungle cases. Eye service makes them rush to call for arrest.

Learn from the CIA, FBI or coming home Bamayi how he set up Diya.

Pain staking investigation, gathering of evidence and facts not speculations.

The Italian dept that arrest mafias I read spend years or several months practically shadowing the guys they want to arrest in order to get concrete evidence to nail these guys.

When ppl heard the payment of 225k ppl were shocked. That money is ridiculous for a bribe in mordern day Nigeria to top govt officials. Offer that kind of money you have shot yourself on the foot

and what if it was structured in tranches to avoid suspicion or in anticipation of the argument you are putting forward.have u not bought a house in nigeria recently and all your payments were done under 10m to avoid the reporting obligation when you transact above 10m?

Sorry to bust your bubble, the phone in your hand is your own, the money in your account is your own.
However all over the world, the transactional details in your account are the property of the bank, which is why you'd have to ask the bank for your statement and they even charge you for it.
The phone in your hand and whatever is on it is your own, however all communications with it through the Telecoms operator is the property of the operator not you. They can cut you off, stop data to you or even deny your access to use their property. You'd be free to use your phone as a camera or radio if you so wish.

you are very wrong ,profoundly wrong.mtn will not divulge your calls and info except by a court order in lawful pursuit of investigations into a crime.quote me anywhere.

ITS Funny how ordinary Nigerians are quick to take sides with these corrupt fools. There are so many hard working honest nigerians and we are allowing a few ones ruin this nation. Yet we take sides with them. I'm not a lawyer but i know that if you have a case pending with a judge in court and you give him a gift of 1kobo towards his fathe-in-law's burial , that very act can form the basis for a mistrial. Lawyers in the house over to you.

In trouble not in prison because everything is politicalized in nigeria and not genuine judicial system so set up na set up. If a member of an interview board calls me and tell me I performed well and that I am likely to be called, then I send him a recharge card to appreciate his concern, in future, you ppl can make it a bribe if I eventually get the job and someone else couldn't get it.

Any piece of evidence, however obtained is admissible to establish a fact in issue. Thus, an evidence obtained during the conduct of a search without a search warrant is admissible evidence notwithstanding that is was illegally obtained.

Its obvious you have not started working if not you would be familiar with the term conflict of interest.

In a normal working environment, its the duty of the person you sent the recharge card to tell the panel or the company that you sent him recharge card.

Failure to disclose this, he is guilty of whatever comes next..even if you decide to sue him that after he collected your recharge card, you were not given employment.

EFCC doesn't require your consent to get details of your bank transactions from a bank, or your phone transactions from a Telecom operator. Both of these items are actually not your properties but that of the bank or telecom operator.

So once they obtain the requisite orders against the actual owners of the data, you the account holder or phone subscriber are inconsequential.

EFCC Establishment Act empowers it to demand and get information regarding any bank account it is investigating. No court order is required.

YOU CAN NEVER DO THAT IN ADVANCED COUNTRIES. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL! I know some person will now say that this is Nigeria not abroad. It is attitudes like this that got us where we are today as a country. Shame..

someone i know was involved in a case in england where police came to search pursuant to a search warrant in connection to a traffic offence and when they came in found marijuana and seeks to make a case out of it,the english court said the exhibits were illegally obtained and refuse to try them for the drug related offence.CAN EVEN GIVE YOU THE CITATION OF THE CASE but again that is England expecting a supreme court of nigeria case from you.all the same thanks for the response.

Do not allow emotions to guide your reasoning...it is not a sacrosanct rule. There are instances whereby a Judge/Magistrate will decide whether legality is either sacrificed for the end of justice or justice is sacrificed for the sake of
legality. More often than not, illegality may be permissible for the ends of Justice. Laws are made to promote Justice, not the other way round. Sections 14&15 of the Evidence Act 2011 throws more light on this. Its not so much about how the evidence was gotten. The court looks at the probative value, the importance of the evidence, the gravity of the impropriety and whether it was deliberate or reckless.

I agree with you to the extent that for certain categories of documents to be admitted in evidence, proper foundation has to be laid. As for a Public document it is only the Original or a certified true copy of that document that is admissible.
