[s]Emotional babbles and rants.
Almost too silly for me to respond.

You made Zero points. Neither did repudiate any of my points.
There are time for sentiments and times for rational common sense.

Your reference to " you and your people " along with your local vernacular betrays your intellectual paucity.

Perhaps you think that adding your local vernacular adds a pinch of common sense to your emotional babble ? undecided

For mental midgets, everything is " we we and them them".

I am sure you haven't figured out that corruption is not localized in any particular place or sector or people.

I am one those who publicly advocate for the liquidation of commercial banks implicated in economic sabotage after the third conviction.

You can't destroy the economy because you want to fight a phantom corruption.

I say phantom because if you don't know what corruption is, the root causes, the mental and infrastructural framework under which it occurs, then you're simply fighting a shadow.

You and your type have taken the typical lazy man's approach to addressing and fighting a real problem by narrowing your focus on your perceived enemies or competitors . Yes, you know, " those other people ", just as you foolishly addressed me as " you and your people ".

You, or your people are either part of the looters, or part of the banking system!

Is that how to run a bank?!

Is that how to run a country?

Is that how to run a paye system that pays over 26,000 ghost workers billions of Naira every month, in connivance with same thieving banks and MDAs -- and we say the country is broke?!!!

Do you know about the tens of unaccounted accounts that were discovered with billions in them?

Are you aware for example that NNPC does not not know how many accounts it actually has? #sad

Do you know the N2.2 trillion recovered so far and counting, is almost half of our previous budget, roughly same amount Christina Lagard came prostelyzing we come and borrow?

What happened to the over $9b the CBN borrowed banks to save them some few years ago, have they returned it?

Do you know the laziness, 'cluelessness', profiteering and racketeering of them banks and CBN's management's selfishness is part of the reason why there is no power supply, no working refineries, no jobs, no factories, no housing/effectively realistic mortgage plans?

Who wants to borrow @ 25% interest rate?

How many businesses would grow at 20-25% interest rates ( if not the oil cabals . . . ), while we get to borrow in other countries at 2-7%, maximum of 13% interest rates?

Tell me why banks would do proper traditional banking if they can get cheap money from borrowing gov't, gov't's money -- not so genius to own and run a bank now in Nigeria is it?

Between you, those almost 100 peeps that liked your post, and the 'General', who is the clueless now?

Common sense indeed. You might want to call it something else. Is it the same president who couldn't do anything right? Whose tenure was riddled with allegations of corruption? Ok. I think we need a new definition of "common sense"

My friend, if you insist that TSA was implemented to enforce the Constitution, then surely, this government is not only hypocritical, but has it's priorities upside down.

If they had any regards to the Constitution, then EFCC would not be breaking into people's homes and offices without search warrants.
They would be obeying court orders regarding the release of suspects held for days without charges and after being granted bail.

If they had respect for the Constitution, they would not be blackmailing and intimidating judges and defence lawyers.

If they respect for the Constitution, they would NOT suddenly and unilaterally sack and appoint VCs, bypassing the council that has the statutory responsibility for appointing and sacking Vice Chancellors.

So, pls , spare us the Constitution enforcement BS.

First of all, dont mix up issues. What has efcc got to do with this topic Save your bias for whoever cares!
Secondly, TSA was introduced by this govt. It was introduced under Jonathan. So your long story is pointless!

C'mon man, look at the history of Nigeria.

When has a president ever gotten anything right in Nigeria?
I boldly disagree with people who try to project the impression that all of Nigeria's problems started with GEJ.
That's my annoyance.
OBJ's government was corrupt, though he achieved much.
Yaradua's short tenure was also mired in corruption, especially while he was on sickbed in Saudi Arabia.

Corruption is a Nigerian problem, not a GEJ problem.
Only hypocrites use GEJ as a scapegoat.

let me illuminate your soul....what is the essence of having a TSA when after choking the banks and the economy, the saved funds still get mismanaged? Eg(BudgetofYams). The TSA will lead to a Biscuit Tin Economy...if that 2.2 Tn were in the hands of those commercial banks do you know how much will be realised on interest? That 2.2tn sitting idly in the CBN is not making sense.....after sitting idly for so long....it will be used to purchase yams.......borehole 125m....website 100m.....Why then did you murder to save?

We are not talking about all the phucked up leaders we've had in Nigeria. We are talking about Jonathan and the TSA. You are defending him like he has any kind of accomplishment. He is part of a long line of incompetent leaders Nigeria has had to date. Lol at your perception of OBJ accomplishing much. Really? A man who had the best chance of leading the country to eldorado but chose to piisss on everyone's dreams. I don't think you are current with what's going on in your country.

Yes.
There is absolutely nothing wrong or abnormal about it.

Banks and governments, right from the beginning of banking, have always enjoyed a Symbiotic relationship.

Governments finetune the economy through the regular infusion or depletion of cash or Treasury instruments in the banking system.

But again, consider that in our economy, we don't have a big industrial sector.
So, the government is the only game in town for high finance.
Therefore, government and its funds provide most of the fuel for economic activities and growth.

So, the idle funds of big government plays very vital role in keeping our banking sector stable enough to carry out their credit creating capabilities.

i skimmed through some of your posts on this thread's first page. i presume that you work in a commercial bank. Eeyah for you in that case. It would have been clearer for you to see if you were not affected by the TSA. The banks should stop looking for free money from government at the expense of the government.

Choking banks? So collecting your money from banks equals choking them? Does it make sense to put money in banks, when all the banks do with the money is take my money to invest in me and i then pay them huge interests and declare paper nonsense index like biggest economy, blah blah growth? Is that common sense?

is it common sense to store up money in a box and leave there for an indefinite period only to mismanage the money later. 1. These^^ are all assumptions.

2. The money is not sitting idle.

3. So you would rather all the ills I enumerated continue?

Let's get practical here!

When the funds were in the banks, were MDAs denied access to them by banks for the purpose of funding government expenditures? It is a No answer.

While the budget is growing through debate, what value is the money in CBN creating compared to putting it to use with short term financing? The latter is far better.

This issue is very clear, you don't need funds with CBN before you streamline your accounting process to understand how much you have and where you have it.

A simple reporting process by banks to CBN will do the magic.

So what makes you think MDAs would be denied funds with this TSA? All TSA is there for is so that the money can be monitored. Rather than a ministry having 40 accounts where directors don't even know over half of them exist. Top management in NNPC didn't even know how many accounts they were operating. That's how TCN came and said they didn't know they had N5bn in a particular account. What do you think would have happened to that money, that money would have disappeared and no one will know. This TSA money will be used to fund the budget, it'll be in circulation very soon.

The TSA is not a box like your box at home that you probably used to store money when you were young. Every sensible government has central banks where they store money. Your idea that money in Central bank will be mismanaged is a fallacy and an unfounded assumption. We already know that money was mismanaged before the TSA so it is not implementation of TSA that leads to mismanagement.
TSA is not a brainless idea, it is a worldclass policy embraced by notable economists like Okonjo-Iweala and the IMF. It is actually a policy template 'copied' from the IMF.
Kindly mention the so many ways of harnessing accounts?

agreed.. the policy is as good as useless since its shortcomings are more than its benefits in the short-run.. but why we're they trying to take credit for a useless policy.. then GEJ is As daft as GMB..

Good question, it is important to note that every economic policy is formulated base on d problem d economy is facing or the issue it is being directed on. Due to this fact, more than one policy could be formulated, then the best among the policies would be implemented after examination. So i don't think it is proper to blame GEJ for this. Besides, there are people handling (economic affairs) economic policy under d govt.
