Hehe you're just learning? Haha eleyi omo. I'd advise you go do some series of personality tests to know your strengths and weaknesses & get hobbies & interests that can generate income otherwise you'll keep frustrating yourself. School system as we know it is crap. Nothing but mental slave camp to produce mindless robots to make other people wealthy. You sell your soul to banks, corporations, companies for peanuts. |

professionally if am to advise you then the follwing analysis must be made: The skill you have acquired is independent of your future & education because 1) without it you can stil be what you want to be (2) it is already your asset, your knowledge you power (3) you can choose to abandon, the skill, disown it and pick it up later (4) the skill doesnt have power to determine your academic future all because it is independent. But note that your academic enjoys some degree of independnt which i term non-core independent because: (1) lack of some certain level of education can limit you to some level in life (2) geting to this level is as a result of effort you put together in primary & sec sch so, where u are owes your past alot...so, dont stop half way |

Bro! You are not far from the truth.. I can beat my chest and tell the world that Education in Nigeria is bull-crab. Imagine a lecturer comes to class, put an outdated equation on the board that he copied from somewhere. After solving, you ask him, how did you arrive at this answer and his response is "take that home as your assignment" in some of this tertiary institutions no knowledge is being transfer to the students. Ma brother, na too go dey arrange the "Blocking money" down. That is the only language they understand. |

Most Nigerian youth read without insight and sense, know how to read basic English and write, know basic calculation, technical college or ND is enough, learn a trade and face it, I've seen roadside okada mechanic having 2 houses modern one while his mate graduate struggle to pay rent, my own brother is even another testimony, hes pure damn farmer but men, a farmer using suit, camry and own more than 7 pen, land acquisition is uncountable, he dine with governor and commisioner of Agric, his graduate mate now some of his staff and some learning under him, get ur grip, learn what u can do on ur own and forget nysc dream bullshit, its mere paper, not ur brain or skill |

Bro as a grad of Computer Engineering and a professional in IT presently - in the IT department of a large organization - I think I'm qualified to advise you. I started my IT career in 1998, just before university, with programming and desktop support. When I was in school, I was just as dissatisfied as you are now. At some point I didn't take my studies seriously and came out with a 2:2. I'll say by and large that was a mistake I'm still paying for, cos I went in search of Jobs but didn't land the ones I would really like. I've had CCNA since 2007 and a few other certs. The IT skills you say you have are really not a big deal trust me. Right now you're just like several other IT guys out there. You think it's a big deal because you're taking care of small bills in school. From what I read you don't particularly stand out in any key field yet. You're just learning all that comes your way now. That wouldn't earn you much later though it's a good foundation for the future. So unless you do really specialize in a specific and preferably difficult area maybe get your CCIE and stuff like that or and you have very clear plans in owning a company with a clear sense of direction and capital to execute, you'd better go back to class, dust those books and start cramming, reading doing whatever. Trust me I've been there. Being in school really shouldn't stop what you're involved in now. You're not doing anything major yet, just some small jobs here and there so..unless and until you own a thriving business whose income can rival that of a fresher in a bank OR until you come up with the next great app or idea, go the FK back to class. Thank me later. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, Steve Jobs were all driven, talented prodigies and some had major financial backing so don't be deceived. Some of them actually did get into Harvard. Except you're actually a genius and just decided to leave that part out. In that case ignore my advice. |

POVERTY is not really lack of money, but lack of belief in opportunities. Whether you are rich or poor has to do with your attitude towards an opportunity when it comes. Part of why the World’s Richest Billionaire – Bill Gate said “If YOU ARE BORN POOR IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT; BUT IF YOU DIE POOR IT’S YOUR FAULT” . Your future is in your hands. Remember that TODAY is the TOMORROW you said YESTERDAY. If you don’t learn how to build your dreams today, someone will hire you (as an employee) to build his/her own dreams. And you know what? You cannot achieve financial freedom if you keep working for someone all your life. You need to choose your own hours and work for yourself. Do you know that every morning you wake up and use tooth paste to brush your teeth someone else is making money? If you want you can make money every day to meet your financial needs. |

Op I think you should pay attention to what laidback and some well meaning nairalanders here have suggested. Here is my analysis: It takes nothing out of you to finish up your course, rather it adds to your bragging rights. The last thing you want is to be faced with an opportunity and you don't have the paper qualifications to back up what you know. The world is a tough place, people don't have the time to give you a trial period or a second chance to reveal your worth, your qualifications would do most of the talking in your absence. Now more importantly, you think you are making money now from your few transactions, well yes it looks like cool money now cos you are still a student and the world hasn't heaved it's weight of responsibilities on you yet. Those small courses you are relying on, can only take you as far as you are willing to go with them. An example: When most of us had our undergrad education, some of the technologies existing now where not fully developed, some none existent at the time. Whatever it is we thought was the future has become obsolete cos the world is developing every year and faster. Keeping up with the trend is a life long struggle. Your today's computer course might no longer be used 5 years down the line, however, your university certificate never gets obsolete, it's yours, it's your bargaining power to get your foot past that door and into the board room to reveal what you have been doing with your brain even after graduation, studying never ends cos new stuff would always be discovered by researchers. My advice: Do both. Get your degree and learn your computer/technical courses as well, you never know when someone would go digging into your background to vett your professional audacity. If you go the business route, you don't want competitors nicking your clients after telling them you aren't a professional cos you didn't get a degree. |

michealabm:Ahswear! Just finished my B.Tech. I wrote my project in complex analysis and everything was just abstract. Cramming is essential for good grades in Mathematics o (at least in Nigeria). I'm thinking of porting to Financial Accounting and going for ICAN exams to broaden my usefulness in the labour market. Waduyu think bro? |

unemployment, Education and Money are different things that can be or not a function of the others entirely. But as unemployment is a menace so also is not attending school. Therefore, by combining the two is what I call menacity. short words is for a wise |
