Results from 78 wards in seven of the nine local government areas of the Benue South Senatorial District, revealed that former President of the Senate and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Benue South Senatorial District re-run election, David Mark, has extended his lead to over 18, 000 votes.

The LGs are Ado, Agatu, Apa, Obi, Ohimini, Okpokwu and Otukpo. Mark led in Ado, Agatu,Okpokwu and Otukpo while Onjeh took Obi and Ohimini. Oju and Ogadibo are the remaining two LGs, made up of 24 wards.

From the 78 wards available, Mark polled 67, 525 votes while his main challenger, Daniel Onjeh polled 49, 506 votes.

The election was conducted in 102 wards in nine local government areas of the Senatorial District.

Please note that these results are yet to be confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the only body recognised by law to declare election result.

This is not just Mark, dis a result to show dat APC has nothing to offer. Fighting corruption is good but is shouldn't affect d common pple cos dey are much and don't have money kept in their soak away.
Don't be surprise dat APC might fall in Edo state governorship election. The common pple will vote for who will give dem money cos dey are broke now. pdp still has the money to spend.

I completely agree with you. It's about the heart saying Onjeh but the head going for Mark. David Mark was almost becoming a relic to his people but the failure of the ruling govt/party to arrest the country's economic downward slide has really worked in his favour.
Idoma people may be saying: David Mark we know, PDP we know, APC we also know but who are you (Onjeh)?

Victory for Mark only confirms one thing: Idomas are ok with the mediocre status quo and are cowardly taking the easy route even if the outcome is 16 yrs casted in stone. David mark didn't do jack before , he sure as hell wont do anything now. With nothing to lose a wise electorate would have opted for the least travelled route. Afterall what greater calamity can befall the idomas than trying the same thing for 20 yrs and expecting a different outcome.

Hmmmmn......the whole of Nigeria made the same mistake in the last election by walking the least travelled routes, we can all see where it has gotten us now. We av all learn bitterly that in d absence of credible alternatives, it is better to maintain the status quo rather than plunging into an unknown terrain..........
