Just spoke with my BDC person now, he said dollar has risen again, as at this moment it goes for 340/$ here in zone 4 Abuja. It started yesterday night (when hardly you can find dollar sell) according to my source. How true is this in your area? |

HungerBAD:the problem is the local industries that appreciated during the high dollar rate will be ignored once naira strengthens against the dollar...people that have not been shopping online due to the hike will resume ...who is helping who? |

drss:I have been writing directly to you on the subject and I expect you to dispute my opinion, but you refuse and keep mentioning me when someone writes something that validates your bias. --- How much was injected into the market and how long can such supply be sustained? What happens when the effect of the initial dollar glut wears out? Does Ubah and his fellow cabal members have enough dollars to sustain supply in the market or does Ubah have enough local substitutes to reduce demand for dollars (for imports)? What happens when all those who suspended imports and online purchases resume their activities due to the strong Naira? --- @kodded, @Holyman3, @dunkem21, @emi14 ***Modified*** There is now talk all over the place that Naira has depreciated again below N320/$ |

dunkem21:That's what the text book economics thought them; people like Mr. Emefiele, Pat Utomi, Ms. Adeosun. They have no idea that what the text books and theories says may not apply to all nation's situation the same way, because there are so many variables to consider. Example; the level of corruption in Nigeria renders their theories useless when compared to say a lesser corrupt country like New Zealand or Finland. There are so many illegalities that goes on in our market/economy here but are not factored in in their theories. This's one of the reason I advocate against western education, cause it indoctrinates the minds of the African people and people of other third world countries. It does not allow third world countries think outside the box. A reason why former president Ibrahim Babangida after watching the dynamics of the Nigerian economy once said ''Nigerian economy is so strange and resilient that it defies all economic theories''. I think president Buhari should fire Mr. Emefiele and Ms. Adeosun immediately, cause this strengthening of the Naira that have happened before devaluation is a clear proof they don't know their job. Ifeanyi Uba, for instance understands the Nigerian economy far more than any of them. |

I would caution against early optimism! This is not just the work of speculators. The fundamental value of naira has actually depreciated for three reasons 1) The fall in the price of oil 2) Lack of foreign portfolio flows 3) Depletion in the country's foreign reserve 4) Supply and demand issues. 5) Low interest rates and high inflation rates These are persistent structural issues, and they have nothing to do with either Mr Uba or the president's body language. I would advise that anyone that can obtain dollars at today's exchange rate should seriously consider doing so, and be prepared to dig in for the long term. |

Adminisher:Trust me, this matter is more than what Buhari can handle. The devils in the system are too much, just like Ubah spoke up, it would require many other powerful Nigerians to come out and speak up more regularly to nip these devils in the bud. The problem is that, it is mainly these 'big men' who should normally speak up that gain from these circumstances, so most of them remain mute. |

dunkem21:Then either those saying so didn't know or they didn't hear well. The reason dollars fell was because they wanted to cbn and fg to capitulate and n start selling them. They bought the dollars cheap from where they get it and sell it very high to make profit and probably force the govt to sell them. |
