Don't worry about how he'll do it.just make up your mind that you really want to be a changed

person, say a humble prayer and seek his guidance to make that happen. For his ways are not the

ways of man.He knew you even before you were born and he knows exactly how to lead you to the

light.

Let me explain it this way,our hearts and mind are full of sin for it is written,'for all have sinned

and come short of his glory'.Most of the time we assume to ourselves that since i go to church,i

dont steal, lie ,commit fornication or murders then am holy..NO!

That is just the surface of what goes on for the heart of an unrepentant man man is terrible.
Matthew chapter 23

verse 25, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and

of the dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence."

The Bible records that from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Hence only God

himself can reveal the true heart of man cause if he does not do that to us,we will assume that all

is well and live an unholy life without even knowing it.God searches the heart of men and he will

reveal to you accordingly every aspect of your life where you need to make changes in,from your

words,to your dressing to your thoughts,to things that may seem morally right but not acceptable to God,your actions in your relationship with him and with men.

Only this way will we know that we constantly need to die daily i.e repent. Of our sins cause the

heart of man is really full of evil.

So pray and let God reveal your heart to you.remember God is light, hence the searching/revealing light.

Let me put it this way, what does God use in revealing the light?

He can use whatever way that pleases him..but most time He makes your conscience more

sensitive to things you once ignored or overlooked. He could even use people but this way you have

to be humble enough to accept correction and not try to look for a way to rope in your advisor

that he also does same cause he is just being used as a tool by God.

What does the Spirit of God use in bringing the conscience under conviction?

We all have a conscience...you know how your conscience works,so that automatically should

answer your question.

Same conscience but hightened...the same way some people are stronger than others if they exercise...but here God exercises your conscience.

What happened to this verse then?

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God" (Romans 8:14).

The verse solidifies the stance...

You should ask instead 'how do i get led by the Spirit of God?'

The bottomline is that God uses the Moral Law to convict the conscience of the sinner while the Holy Spirit leads the saints in the path of righteousness.

Muafrika2:
I believe conviction of sin is when a person comes to the realisation that something they have been doing probably even unknowingly, was wrong. It comes once a person has gone through a "process" of self realisation and it comes at the same time as the victory over the same thing.

That's my experience. The moment I come to a realization about something is the moment the change starts manifesting with no effort.
Are you saying sinners are not always aware that their sins are wrong? If so, what brings us into the "realisation" that what we are doing is sinful?

Muafrika2:
Guilt on the other hand is a burden that comes on your spirit when you realize you have done something . It's different from conviction in that conviction comes with power and lifts a burden while guilt imposes a spiritual burden.

The dictionary definition of guilt is on point -

Guilt is a cognitive or an emotional experience that occurs when a person realizes or believes—accurately or not—that he or she has compromised his or her own standards of conduct or has violated a moral standard and bears significant responsibility for that violation. It is closely related to the concept of remorse.
I think the verse below describes what you are trying to say in the bolded above.

"For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works death" (2 Cor. 7:10).

There are sins that are more obvious than others. Pride, impatience, even lack of faith is sin. They are hidden sins, not hidden by the sinner but mostly by limited understanding on the part of the Christian. You may have a negative attitude and be unaware of it. The Spirit of God will reveal these weaknesses one after another, giving you time to be established in the new truth and proceeding on to the next as you grow. That is what real spiritual growth is.

They are also things that are not done away with at one go. They take time and building of character and attidude. And it never ends.

Then there are the more obvious sins; the ones announced everywhere, like rebellion against God as in this scripture;

Ephesians 4:19 Who[refering to ungodly men] being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

These are sins which a person does out of choice and spite toward God.

There's a module in psychology that identifies the realisation of the knowledge by self that you know that others don't know, the knowledge of yourself that others know that you do not know, the knowledge of yourself that you and others equally know and then the self that neither you nor others know but the Holy Spirit. My question is, how does the Holy Spirit convict us of such sins.

"Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after" (1 Timothy 5:24).

Muafrika2:
Definitely.
Yes, its only the Holy Spirit that brings about godly sorrow but how? undecided

First, having knowledge of the word of God is important. The Spirit of God will use the word in your spirit and relate it to the situation.

For example there is this person I don't like because the person is vicious. That devil has done everything to take away my peace and to spite me. I ignored it for a long time, till my heart just gave way to spite and the desire for vengeance too. When my attitude changed, I lost my peace of mind too. Now I was fighting a spiritual war and I kept loosing my peace. After a long while I was sitted by myself when peace, and a thought suddenly flooded my mind, devil or not, she was in a position of authority over me, and it's God's word to submit to all authority.

The moment that thought flashed, the resistance that I felt in my heart toward that devil left. And my peace returned. I now have power to submit myself to all kinds of people with little resistance from my inner self.

So that's how the Spirit works,

Just like that, your conscience is pricked and what did not have any effect on you suddenly becomes apparent, and receive the urge to change.
