Recently the vice president pastor yemi Osibanjor accused xpresident Goodluck Jonathan and PDP of not constructing any brown new road in the whole of Nigeria for the six years he was in office.

The reason for this post is to create an avenue for Igbos, Ipodians or Biafran hopefuls, to debunk the vice president's statement and also elinghten other Nigerians who share thesame view as the VP.

Although I personally dislike xpresident Jonathan even before he became the president. I don't just believe Jonathan failed in the aspect of road I believe he failed in all ramification of governance.

But there is one question I always ask, but I have not been able to get a clear cut answer. The question is what did Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan do in the South East in his six years as president that made them to adopt him as their son and keep praising and worshiping him as an hero?

I believe no man is an island of knowledge. There must be something Jonathan did that we don't kow about, but the Igbos know about. I don't believe all Igbos are foolish people to be supporting him if he did not do anything for them.

Let me start this trend by stating the only thing I kow that Jonathan did for the South East: Jonathan lunched the construction of the Second Niger Bridge

ok! Igbos over to you please list the good things Jonanthan did in the South East

Jonathan is now in the past, let's face today and tomorrow. We all know he was a failure but concern should be how this present government won't fail even above Jonah

the pictures of roads I saw, were roads that were just started as at 2015. Was he able to complete the roads before he left office? If not it means they where political roads he used to deceive the Igbos. Why did he not start the roads since 2011 so he whould be able to complete them before his defeat?

Jonathan started some things but he did not complete any or show seriousness. I guess he wanted to use them as a bait to force Igbos into supporting his 3rd term bid or in some instances like that of Imo he wanted to punish us for being in APC.

What Goodluck did for SEners and why they like him is more psychological than infrastructural.

1) During his campaign, he made Nigerians understood you could identify as Igbo and still be electable as president. This is what an Igbo, Odili, was afraid to do months before he Goodluck was thrown up.

2) Since after the war, the Igbo man was avoided like a leper from taking commanding position in the military. He ended it in a big way by appointing two Igbo at the same time to head the army and the Navy. The one in the army now has the record as the longest serving Army Chief (COAS) in Nigeria. He did exceptionally well in Boko Haram fight even as he took the credit of introducing the first indigenous Armoured personal carrier, Igirigi, to the force.

3) Goodluck recognised Ojukwu more than others before him. He commissioned a statue of the man with his military uniform and his favorite Browning assault rifle strapped to his back. Named an important road after him. Equally gave him a state burial, made sure he invited another head of state to accompany him to Nnewi for the burial ceremony.

4) He lifted the post war air blockade of the SE to the world by gazzetting Enugu airport as International and made sure that a foreign airline landed DIRECTLY there before he left office.

5) He introduced Innoson technology into the realms of the Nigerian military apparatchik, Air force included.

6)Among other things not mentioned. He has BIG, non pretentious respect for Ndigbo and it was FULLY returned to him.

It is actually good to support a candidate for personal/regional benefits. It is however better to support a candidate for over all benefit of the country. The decay in the country is not such that all sectors could be affected significantly within a tenure. If he had faced the south east, you would have been the first to cry tribalism. The reason some of us supported him are more nationalistic than parochial. His revolution in Agric that has been suspended, his auto policy that has been reversed and many more moves that were meant to lead us away from the control of the west. If I go into this you may not appreciate it but in summary he was laying a ground work for an independent nation. The west would not like it.

As to what he did for South East, I benefit immensely from using Enugu-Abakaliki road built to the same standard as the Benin-Ore road. I benefit from the renovation of Akanu Ibiam international airport. Train runs from Enugu to PH. A couple of South Easterners were appointed to his government. There was no 97%-5% Policy in his time.I can go on.. If you're not from the south east or live in the south east you may not be able to wail appropriately on their behalf..

1.) Jona allowed Igbo businesses to flourish eg Ibeto got his cement license back only for Buhari to remove the license and make dangote a monopolist

2.) For the first time since after the civil war, the east felt like part and parcel of the country. The benin-ore road that leads to their homes was clean up. Reduced the former high number of deaths of easterners on that road. The Abacha's northern government budgetted only 13 milion naira for all the roads in the east. Buhari's fulani regime as a general budgetted 0 naira for all the roads in the East.

3.) The freedom of Information bill which GEJ into law was applauded in the east which is the most liberal and educated part of the country. Without that freedom of information the dictator buhari will be tying people at stakes and shooting them for calling him a dulllard which he truly is.

4.) Gej was loved because the East loved people who loved them. We voted him because hausas will vote a fulani anyday, anytime anyday. So the east has the right to vote easterners anytime anyday.

5.) GEJ also gave Enugu International airport a facelift for the first time in decades. Something ex-military president of fulani extraction can never do.

6.) Gej valued the Igbos while Igbos loved him. We saw Buhari's appointment as military dictator. 99% Hausa/fulani 0% Igbos. Is the same thing not happening now? So why should we have voted a bigot-an open bigot for that matter, couldn't hausa/fulani have brought someone less divisive. Didn't the east vote yar adua a fulani?

We have no regret voting against the divisive dullard and we are not afraid of him. He may have the guns, bullet, but he won't live forever but the Igbos and the East will be here for the next 100,000 years.

He remains unpopular in the well educated majority of better south, only minority muslims in the south and empty headed christians voted him. The fall of the naira and the crash of the economy have vindicated the educated better south that said 'No' to him.

Everything is all about option ie a free and fair election
He gave us an option between a non certificated man and a certificated man

He gave us an option between transformation and change of promise

He gave us an option between forwardness and backwardness

He gave us an option between civilian rule and military rule

He gave us an option between 2015 and 1985

He gave us option between real and scam

He gave us option to choose between clueless and most cluelessness.

He gave us option between bad and worst.

He gave us an option between a growing economy and a collapsed economy

He gave us an option between being a giant of Africa and being the laughing stock of Africa.

He gave us an option between goodluck and badluck

And the south eastern made their option from the already options not necessarily on the things on ground.
SE believed that Nigeria needs time to develop BC Nigeria as a country in not yet a developed country.
Rome wasn't built in a year.

Now, Buhari has come with his body language and buharinomics and the difference is already clear.

This is the same lie that Jonathanians keep telling. That airport was upgraded by the Yar'adua administration and an Igbo group even thanked him.

Akanu Ibiam International Airport: A Letter of Gratitude
http://www.nigerianleadershipcouncil.org/Success-of-Enugu-Airport-Petition.html

A brief history of how it all started.......

Our petition, signed by 2,215 compatriots, was FIRST mailed to President Obasanjo on December 23, 2006. [Here is the petition, http://www.umez.com/Enugu-Airport-Petition.html.] Following the petition, President Obasanjo promised to upgrade Akanu Ibiam Airport to international standard. However, that did not happen before he left office. When he [President Obasanjo] left office, I was contacted by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation (2007), Hon. Senator Anyim Ude, through one of his PRs, Nnanna Anyim Ude, to resubmit the petition. The petition was immediately resubmitted on Jan 16, 2007 to (a) President Yaradua, (b) Nigerian National Assembly, (c) Southeast Representatives in the Nigerian National Assembly and (d) the Governors of the Southeast Nigeria, namely, Abia, Anambra, Benue, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu , Imo, and Kogi.

Following the resubmission, our Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Anyim Ude, among others, who were inspired by the petition, patriotically seized the moment, and met President Yaradua without delay. Thereafter, President Yaradua promised to upgrade the airport to international standard. Once President Yaradua made the promise, we quickly wrote a thank-you-letter to him. Here is that etter: http://www.umez.com/Thanks-to-President-Yaradua.html

And here is another article:

Date:2007-11-15
http://www.thenationonlineng.net/archive2/tblnews_Detail.php?id=37254
Yar’Adua okays Enugu airport’s upgrading
President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua has approved the upgrading of Akanu Ibiam Airport, Enugu, to an international airport.

The Minister of Transportation, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke said on Tuesday that the President’s action was aimed at alleviating the travails of many businessmen and travellers to the zone.

She said the approval would enable the ministry begin a phased programme of major infrastructural upgrading and developments at the airport.

She expressed the hope that the project could be completed within the next few years.

The minister reiterated her earlier commitment to the completion of the Domestic Terminal building at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport and said the modernizsing and upgrading of infrastructure at the airport remained a top priority of the Musa Yar’adua administration.

On the Port Harcourt Omagwa International Airport, Mrs. Alison-Madueke has directed the contractors working on the runway, and the lighting system, to expedite action to ensure that the Airport is opened to commercial traffic before Christmas this year

If fulanis like let them keep bringing old dying bigotted generals who openly celebrate their role in killing women and children in the east, it will be the same story. Awareness is now higher and the country is more divided than ever before. The future is pregnant and doesn't look good for nigeria.

Igbos have voted fulani and yoruba, if they can not reciprocate same to the Igbo, then the must prepare to have their country in bits and pieces. No amount of 'One nigeria' let's live together' jingles on radio and TV will stop nigeria from capitulating when it will. Nigeria is not sacrosant. It's existence is not enforced in the Bible or quoran.

The truth of the matter is that Igbos supported Jonathan not because of any particular good act of his, all the lists being mentioned on this thread (like the one quoted) are pure bulls**t. The Igbo love for Jonathan was born indirectly out of a hatred for Buhari and the fact that the north desparately wanted push him aside and sieze power after the death of Yaradua. The special hatred for Buhari wasn't there when Buhari contested against OBJ and Yaradua, the hatred started when he got the support of the entire north to take power from a political neophyte Jonathan. The disgust for this act of the north pushed Igbos to love Jonathan UNCONDITIONALLY.

Ndigbo should accept the fact that Jonathan is the worst person ever to rule Nigeria and at the wrong time. He wasted our biggest chance of infrastructural advancement because of lust for money and earthly acquisitions. I thank God for helping us remove him on time for this economic meltdown which can only be managed by a meek like Buhari.

Obasanjo despite his numerous flaws set up a great institution only for Yar'Adua/Jonathan to run it down.

Oga, you are talking trash. Jona brought us close after 40 years of sideline and we Igbos loved. Past presidents have continued the war against the east by refusing to develop it, It very 'nigerian' and 'patriotic' to take allocation that belong to the east and use it to develop the north and the SW. Buhari made it clear he was coming to continue the tradition. We read Nyako's morbidly anti-Eastern letter, did buhari ever condemn Nyako. We even saw the bigot nyako on one of Buhari's campaign after he was chastized by Jona for his inflammatory letter.

You can spin it anyhow you want, it's your business, the truth stares you in the face.

5) He introduced Innoson technology into the realms of the Nigerian military apparatchik, Air force included.

6)Among other things not mentioned. He has BIG, non pretentious respect for Ndigbo and it was FULLY returned to him.

Wow. You shoot straight. Well said and bless you

Since you said I was totally wrong in my statement anf as per the bolded part of your message, abeg kindly explain how GEJ 'developed' the east better than others before him?

Prove me wrong that this massive delusion is not real.

Jonathan revamped Akanu Ibian int'l airport and now the airport is of international standard. Southeasters traveling abroad or returning home no longer have to travel to or alight at Lagos first before traveling or returning home.

Jonathan awarded the contract for the second Niger bridge which was at a reasonable level of progression before buhari ( the hater of ndiigbo) stopped it.

Two of my siblings got appointed into two federal government agencies that were hitterto "reserved" for Hausa's and yorubas, thanks to the Jonathan. We all know how Yoruba's and Hausa's used to distribute federal jobs amongst their tribesmen. It didn't happen during Jonathan's government. At least their was a level playing ground for all.

I am in school today because of Jonathan!

The truth is that Jonathan's government gave the Igbo's a sense of belonging and he should be appreciated for that.
