icoral, joniboi, refemiguwa.... I'm glad you understood my thoughts smiley

Whatever is avoidable, let's try to avoid it.

@All, again when certain things happen like miscarriage, loss of a newborn, bleeding in pregnancy etc, let's endeavor to always know the root cause! This will help us make informed decisions and avoid reoccurrence. Ask your doctor what are the likely causes and how to prevent it from happening again. My heart bleeds for all these losses cos probably because I'm a safety person and even 1 fatality is a lot to us so I find it hard to deal with these looses. Let's also share experiences so others can learn from it.

To everyone on this thread, let our goal be ZERO FATALITY, SAFE DELIVERY, MOTHER ALIVE, BABY ALIVE, FATHER ALIVE + Plenty money to take care of ourselves!

Hello mamas, please is there anything i can do to stop this spitting? It started at 5weeks and i'm 20 weeks(5 months) gone now, yet i'm still spitting every minute. I'm getting frustrated that i'm still carrying spit cup around.

Also, my heartburn is becoming worse these days. Any meal i eat gives me heartburn. Once i eat one spoonful, my chest starts heating up and i have to drink water for it to calm down. Its very uncomfortable and i wish there is sth i can do sad
As per the spiting, the only thing that works for me is minty sugarless gum. The mint keeps my mouth refreshed and minty and that helps with my spitting and nausea. Constantly chewing on the gum made sure saliva did not build up in my mouth too. I've never carried a cup around.

As per heartburn, I have no idea cos I've never had it before or when I was pregnant. Pele

Good day expectant moms and vigilante moms. I have been a silent follower of this wonderful thread. I am not preggo at the moment, but I have a 2years plus son. What prompted this post is because of a sister I lost this morning, she was pregnant, yesternight I was told she was sectioned, the baby was delivered and is doing well. BUT the mom(my cousin) had to be transferred to OAUTHC in Ile-ife, Osun State . As her scan yesterday shows that she has PREECLAMPSIA(pregnancy induced hypertension). She died this morning. She was just in her early thirties and this was her first child.
To the Medical practitioners in the house, can you kindly tell me more about what causes preeclampsia and ways by which it could be avoided during pregnancy?
Pardon my long post. Just want to be as detailed as possible.

Okay will try that. Milk was actually the chief cause of my nausea and i stopped taking it some months back out of fear of my nausea returning.

Mopricelezz, sorry for the loss. May God watch over all she left behind. Amin

Feddy27, I agree with you buh not totally.
In Poca's case.....as she said nothing bad showed on her scan or her tests. She was just due. We all know that sometimes you pass your due date by a few days ( eg Missmalachi, Ozycy, Proudmum38), these women delivered via the V.
Sometimes induction without proper monitoring can go wrong. Ask me!
Sometimes you listen to your Dr and it all goes wrong, ask Chinwendym.
Sometimes these things happen.

I really wish mothers who have suffered losses like these could try and always share with us, you dont know how many babies you will be saving.
Do you know how much I learnt from Chinwendym's story?
Tell me you havent learnt one thing from CheeryChy's experience.
What exactly happened?
What was the Drs POV?
What is yours?
You can actually find closure, advise, recommendations. Some ppl will even tell u how to avoid such occurence.
Help someone else, please. Even if it is painful, let something good come out from your loss.

We share our joy( BS) and ppl find something to learn from it, let us bear this pain with you abeg.

When I first joined this thread, I was over silent sef. Buh I used to come over and over to read the BS and smile. Until someone ( I cant remember) was complaining of cramps. Then she started bleeding and the cramps still stayed. Soon she miscarried. I was so shaken and each time I cramped, I would be so scared. She made me realise for the first time that miscarriages occur in that way ( mum.u me thot miscarriage is only seeing blood run down your leg when you are asleep, as we dey see for film na)

May these kind of news forever be banished on this thread. Amin

zaynie, I used the induction as one out of the many ways they can receive help. I'm not saying it must be, the bottom line is to have an open mind. It is well with all of us, God will not allow affliction to arise a second time.

I join my faith with yours also to say no more losses on this thread. Amen

Congratulations to Anak123 & bee2bee on the arrival of your bundles of joy. A big welcome to them and may God keep and protect them.

Pocahuntaz (e-hugs) It is well with you. God will replace that which you have lost.

JUST AN ADVISE FROM ME
It is important we LEARN FROM INCIDENTS i.e. what has happened to others so that we don't have a repeat of such cases here.
Especially first time mums! Please learn to trust your doctor. It has a way of making delivery easy for you. Besides, you have never had a baby so when certain options are open to you, ask question and ensure to do whatever will save your life and that of your baby! Let me share my story, I had an uneventful pregnancy; no sickness whatsoever. When I got to 37 weeks, my doctor explained alot to me and asked me if I would like him to help me if I get to 39 weeks and labor does not come on its own. My dear, I had an open mind and I told him do anything that will make me and baby safe and sound. To cut the story short, I was prebooked for induction. I got to 39wks, no labor so I carried myself to the hospital and in 24hrs, I had my baby in my arms ! I really don't know what labor pains were cos i opted for pain relieve (epidural), labor progressed speedily cos I was not stressed and all. The lesson here is this: The longer you stay, the more tension starts to build. Also, remember that the nutrients in your system is also diminishing and as such you baby starts getting distressed. I made up my mind for a CS should anything go wrong. it doesn't matter what means the baby came out thru, what we are interested in is MOTHER ALIVE AND BABY ALIVE ! In my opinion, there is no need to stay longer than 40wks! My friend did and baby was distressed, pooed inside, had to stay in intensive care after birth and all that ! The baby still has respiratory issues now! I tried to talk to her then, she said all her sisters don't give birth till after 40wks bla bla bla. please FIRST TIME MUMS ! From 37wks, your baby is ready to be born! Trust your healthcare providers, they have seen you thru the prgenancy and understands your history better! Imagine someone with a placenta previa, saying she wants to wait till 40wks and attempt a VB that the "placenta has moved"...hmmmmm! Her doctor asked to bring out the baby at 38wks via CS, she ran away from the hospital !!!! FIRST TIME MUMS!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! YOU HAVE NOT GIVEN BIRTH BEFORE! ALWAYS HEED TO THE ADVISE OF YOUR DOCTOR.

This second pregnancy, I will gladly go that route again ! 39wks and no labor, bring out the baby !

Enough said for the morning!

Good morning ladies and have a productive day ahead.

thanks for this advice.am very unfortunate to have the worst doctor in portharcourt .he is a very good gynae but lack communication skills.as a FTM i have not learn anything from either him nor the nurses.tod help me ooooo

Amen.

It's a good thing this issue is being discussed as I'm sure many mamas will educates.

Zaynie I agree with you. I remember being totally shocked by all I pains I experienced post CS as per FTM. all the birth stories I read here prior to then never mentioned the CS recovery phase so I was totally unprepared mentally for it which was why when I posted my birth story it was really long and I narrated my experience both pre and post delivery so that other mums will learn.

Feddy27, I also agree with you in finding out the root cause. I delivered through emergency CS and after I was all settled, I sat down to analyse what could have been done differently to prevent such from happening because I had a relatively smooth pregnancy.

My mum was furious that I was allowed to get to 40 weeks and she couldn't understand why I wasn't induced. She is of the opinion that the longer the pregnancy, the higher the risks so by week 38/39, baby should be out.

In my own opinion, I wish I had just checked myself into the hospital earlier. I mistook contractions for constipation as per JJC lipsrsealed lipsrsealed I was "constipated" for about 2days before I checked myself in at the hospital. I was thinking it wasn't my EDD yet so no rush. Maybe if I had gotten to the hospital earlier, my baby would not have been distressed to require an intervention.

Most importantly, we should listen to our doctors and also study our baby's movements. If kicking/movements are reduced at any time, please do not hesitate to go to the hospital for immediate checks and monitoring.

Induction, CS, forceps delivery, vaginal delivery - it doesn't matter. All that matters is baby alive, mother alive.

Pocahuntaz so sorry for your loss. May God console you and your family and compensate you for your loss.

Feddy27 thank you for your post.

Let me bring my own question to the house, please every input is appreciated.
My doctor has already informed me that I would have CS due to my history. I conceived exactly 1yr and 6months after myomectomy and my doc says he doesn't want me to rupture my uterus doing a VD. I have absolutely no problems with CS as long as I would carry my baby in my arms. But I have read of women that had VBAC after 1 year and now im wondering if CS is necessary in my case?
So far iv had a supernatural pregnancy, no MS, no constipation, no spitting, no heart burn. Im Praying for supernatural delivery as well.

Usually, docs give you folic acid, fesolate, calcium and bcomplex immediately you're confirmed pregnant or they let you take pregnacare that contains folic acid. But since you're on progesterone supplement, maybe that is why he's giving you just folic acid rather than adding the others.
You can decide to take your pregnacare after the 12weeks mark. For now, i suggest you load up your system with iron-rich foods and lots of veggies. Happy bumping dear wink

Thanks sis, am already improving on d food aspect. We ll all carry to term and give birth to healthy babies.
