Where is Uchechi Sunday? The girl played and scored in the champions league, to me she is our best striker.

Uchechi Sunday, Who I call our "cristiano ronaldo" coz of her build and athleticism.

Starred alongside Oshoala at Canada 2014 Fifa U-20 world cup and scored about 4 goals or so in that tournament.

I even forgot mentioning her in my list of notable absentees.

Well, this is the new crew's first assignment. Hopefully, she and others like Dike and Umotong get to be called up in subsequent games.

TheSuperNerd:
Ini umotong recently signed for Oxford Utd ladies. She's no more with Portsmouth ladies.

She's not the only one missing from the 40-woman squad.

Other notable absentees:
-Courtney Dike
-Precious Dede (maybe she's retired)
-Sarah Michael (if they called back Rita Chikwelu, wonder why Michael was left out)
-Cynthia Uwak (she's still active)
-Alaba Jonathan
-Tochukwu Oluehi

Alaba and Oluehi are Goalkeepers. Though we have 4 goalies in that 40-woman list. (Okeke, Ohieraku, Whyte, and Chichii)

Meanwhile, are you saying you'll pick Iniabasi Umotong (a super goal banger for her former side, Porthsmouth ladies) over Desire Ugochi Oparanozie??

Yes I will, its high time we begin to shop for younger and hungrier forwards since Oparanozie has continued without the needed Desire. Can you tell me one complete dribble she made during the last World Cup? She finds it difficult to cause serious damage to opposing defenders.

That's what we are saying. As far as I am concerned, Oparanozie has dully lost her starting slot in the national team, if we can for once go by merit.

Hmm.... Ajibade is the youngest here and very exciting.
Uchechi, Dike, and Ihezuo are all gifted forwards with boundless potentials.

I didn't see Umotong on your list. Yet NLban says he will pick her ahead of Oparanozie.

Oparanozie is already a veteran because she started so young with the Falcons. People seem to forget how old she is. #smiles

Hey uhmm.... If it's argument you want, I'm not giving it.

But just one question, How old (or how young) is Oparanozie? (You make it sound like she's "old"wink

**she was 18 at the Fifa U-20 Women World cup 2010 and 20 at the Fifa U-20 Women World cup 2012**

Umotong over Oparanozie?? Maybe others in the house will answer that. #smiles

Re: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by Nobody: 3:54pm On Mar 02, 2016
Oparanozie is still in her mid-twenties (officially), so I'll still give her some playing time for the SF. Her poor form at the last World Cup and the Olympic qualifiers shouldn't be a reason to shut her out of the team.

But if she's invited to the team for some other AWC matches, and she flops again, then I'll fear for her future with the national team.

Furthermore, I don't agree that the SF need a non-Nigerian coach. The likes of Ann Chiejine and Perpetua Nkwocha have gone true the necessary training to be coaches and deserve to be given a long-term contract till the 2019 World Cup in France.
These 2 ex-players and Florence Omagbemi will also command the respect of the players, having played for a combined 20+years for the national team.

I think the problem with me is that, I expect too much from her. Believe me she is not the player I knew during her days with the U20s.
She didn't do much as I had expected in our last matches before the end of last year. No arguments intended though.

She didn't do much as I had expected in our last matches before the end of last year. No arguments intended though.

This is a general problem affecting most of the Super Falcon players. Nigeria has persistently paraded killer squads at the last four U20 World cups. We have played in 3 semis and 2 finals.

However, our Super Falcons have not benefitted from these U20 achievements.

From the 2008 U20 I can recall outstanding players like Sarah Michael, Ebere Orji, Chiwendu Chikwelu among others. And I think Opranozie was in that team as a 16 yrs old. They lost 3-2 to France in the quarter final.

The 2010 quad had the likes of Desire Opranozie, Ebere Orji, Uchechi Sunday, Rebecca Kalu, Helen Ukaonu, Esther Sunday, Osinachi Ohale. They lost in the final to host Germany.

The 2012 squad had: Franscesca Ordega, Ebere Orji, Desire Oparanozie, Ngozi Okobi, Esther Sunday, Ugo Njoku, Josephine Chukwunonye, Asisat Oshoala and others. They finished 4th

The 2014 squad had: Chiwendu Ihezue, Courtney Dike, Asisat Oshoala, Ugo Njoku, Uchechi Sunday, Loveth Ayila, Osarenoma Igbinovia, Sarah Nnodim among others. This set to me is the best crop of U20 the Nigerian female team has ever produced. They painted that tourney with goals. Asisat Oshola, Courtney Dike and Uchechi Sunday where ruthless.

Observation: A good number of these players featured up to 2 or 3 times which I would say is good for their exposure and experience.
Looking back from 2008 to 2014 it means all these players would be 28yrs or less now.I know one thing abt female football: The older and more experienced the better. Nigeria should be competing with likes of USA, Germany, Sweden and Japan at Senior women football level now. We have produced female players that have almost conquered the world on abt 3 occasions even with some of these girls featuring 2ce or 3ce.

Now the question is what went wrong?

Could it be the local league?
Age cheating?
Lack of quality Team handlers?
Bad Team selection?

I think it is all of the above. Until the NFF tackles each of the possible reasons for the set-back listed above we may not make progress in women football.

I Love Female Football With Passion. But The Major Issue With The Nigerian Female Teams Is Lack Of Support From The Nigerian Football Body. See How Long The Team Stayed Without A Coach. Our Female League Is Too Dis Organised Despite The Abundance Of Talents. Another Thing Is That Age Cheat In Female Football Is rampant And Un-Checked. Sunday Uchechi x Older Dan Are She Claims And Desire oparanozie x a suspect Also. But A Better Support From Nff wil improve d teams' luck

Nigeria: Oshoala Rues Missed Olympic, Visits Hs Media Group
[/size]
https://d19lga30codh7.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/OshoalaArsenal.jpg
Former CAF and BBC Women's Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala who paid a courtesy visit to HS Media Group on Thursday has expressed sadness over Super Falcons failure to qualify for the Rio2016 Olympic Games.

"It's a very bad feeling. It could have been my first Olympics for Nigeria. It's unfortunate that I wasn't there when the qualifiers were played because I was injured. A lot of key players were absent in the qualifying game as well. Sometimes these things happen in football, we are not perfect and things don't go smoothly for everyone all the time," Oshoala said.

Asisat Oshoala featured for Nigeria at last year's Women's World Cup
Looking agile and smart as usual, Oshoala who was at the HS Media Group to build a mutual relationship with the media outfit before the kick off of the English Women's Soccer League season on Saturday where she is expected to make her debut for the Arsenal Ladies, blamed the low points of her career last season on her injury with the Liverpool Ladies.

It was a lay off that cost the young Super Falcons striker a chance of playing in her first Olympics with the failure of the Falcons to qualify for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics and also pushed her out of reckoning for the CAF Women's Player of the Year award for last season.

Oshoala believes the new crop of coaches in the Falcons led by former captain, Florence Omagbemi and assisted by two former skippers, Ann Chiejine and Pepetual Nkwocha are capable of restoring the team's image in the continent and moving the senior female national team to greater heights.

"We are not going to the Olympics, but we still have the Nations Cup to play this year and we can still go for the trophy and get something for 2016," the former Liverpool striker said.

On the choice of switching from Liverpool to the female Gunners for the new season, Oshoala said: "Well you know sometimes in life you have to take a step further to make the difference in you, it's going to be a strong challenge, but I'm ready to make the difference."

Oshoala is also confident that her new relationship with HS Media Group will yield good fruits.

"I work with my spirit, I work with myself. Once I'm convinced that something will work out, I follow it through to the end. I know is going to be successful," Oshoala said.

Guys, any news about oshoala, it was reported weeks back that @lfcladies 'reluctantly' accepted an offer from @arsenalladies. @arsenalladies recently released their squad for the new season and she wasn't part of it, Liverpool (on preseason in SA without her) hasn't made any mention of her since then same as arsenal, she also hasn't said anything yet.

This was the last thing I read about her transfer, but recently an article refered to her as a Liverpool ladies as you can read before this very post. Thanks

Asisat Oshoala featured for Nigeria at last year's Women's World Cup

Liverpool Ladies have "reluctantly accepted" a transfer bid for striker Asisat Oshoala from fellow Women's Super League side Arsenal Ladies.

The Gunners have activated a release clause in the Nigeria international's contract with the Reds.

Oshoala will now hold talks with Pedro Martinez Losa's side but the move is subject to the 21-year-old receiving a work permit for the 2016 campaign.

Oshoala was named the BBC's Women's Footballer of the Year in 2015.

She joined Liverpool ahead of the 2015 WSL campaign and scored three goals in 12 league outings last season.

Asisat Oshoala: Nigerian granted permit to join
Arsenal Ladies from Liverpool Ladies

......................................................................................

Nigeria international striker Asisat Oshoala has
been granted a UK work permit, clearing the path
for her to complete a switch to Arsenal Ladies
from rivals Liverpool Ladies.

Arsenal Ladies' bid was "reluctantly accepted" by their fellow Women's Super League One side in
January.

The Gunners activated a release clause in Oshoala's
contract, subject to her gaining a work permit for
2016.

Oshoala, 21, was named the BBC's Women's
Footballer of the Year in 2015.

She is presently in Zurich as a panellist at the Fifa
Women's Football and Leadership Conference 2016
and is expected in London on Wednesday to finalise
her switch to the two-time FA Women's Super League champions.

Oshoala joined Liverpool ahead of the 2015 WSL
campaign but injury blighted her time at the club and she only scored three goals in 12 league outings last season.

The first player from Africa to compete in the
Women's Super League, Oshoala burst into the
limelight when she emerged as the leading scorer at
the 2014 Under-20 World Cup in Canada and was
voted the tournament's best player.

Her performances led Nigeria to the final, where they were narrowly beaten by Germany, and she was also a major influence in the senior Nigeria team, who won a record seventh African Women's
Championship in October 2014.

That ensured their qualification for last summer's
Women's World Cup in Canada, where Oshoala
scored her only goal of the competition in a thrilling
3-3 opening match against Sweden.

But the first player to win the BBC Women's
Footballer of the Year award, voted for by football
fans around the world, could not stop the African
champions from exiting the tournament in the group stage.

https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec783c4abef6235000001.jpg

It's International Women's Day today*, and what better way to celebrate that than to take a look at some of the brilliant women at the top of the game?

It's pretty perfect timing all-round really, with four of the world's top teams (Germany, USA, France and England) currently facing off in the SheBelieves Cup in the States while in the UK, the Women's Super League kicks off in just over two weeks time.

Let's get going, shall we?

*International Men's Day is on November 19, before you even ask. Sod off, you whiny crybabies.

13. Marta
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec284e638cc5a86000001.jpg

For a number of years, Marta was women's football's undisputed number one. She won the World Player of the Year award a phenomenal five times in a row between 2006 and 2010, and is the Brazil team's all-time leading scorer with over 100 international goals. Oh, and she's still only 30.

Marta is a phenomenon.

Yet for all of her individual brilliance, major trophies have always eluded her. Silver medals at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics sandwiched a runner's up medal at the 2007 World Cup, but the blame lies more with Marta's team than with the star herself - currently standing as the World Cup's leading scorer of all time with 15 strikes on the world's biggest stage.

12. Alex Morgan
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec2df9c34b8c088000001.jpg

One of the USA's new generation, but at just 26 years old Morgan has already cemented her place in the pantheon of American footballing greats.

Already topping 100 caps and 60 goals for her country, Morgan's composure under pressure was shown as recently as last Sunday, with a stoppage time goal to beat France in the ongoing SheBelieves Cup.

Even that was nothing compared to her starring role in the USWNT's 2012 Olympic campaign though, a 123rd minute goal (no, that's not a typo) clinching victory in the semi-final against Canada. That goal was one of just 28 international goals she scored in 2012, to go with 21 assists.

Once again - that's direct involvement in 49 international goals in a single calendar year. She may not have hit those statistical heights since, but her all-round play hasn't dipped in the slightest. She's already equalled her 2015 total of seven goals this year, with many more games and an Olympic campaign to come.

Look out, record books.

11. Dzsenifer Marozsán
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec3109dac602465000001.jpg

Marozsan comes from solid footballing stock - her father Janos making four appearances for the Hungarian national team way back when - but when it comes to success, she's got the old man beaten.

Since she became the youngest ever player in the Bundesliga at just 14 years and seven months, the now 23-year-old Marozsán has been on a path right to the top. More than 50 international appearances and a Champions League win later, she's already there - expect to see her lead the German team for most of the next decade.

10. Kadeisha Buchanan
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec347c4abef54b6000001.jpg

Another young star, Buchanan was only 19 years old when she made her mark on the World Cup in the summer, slotting into the heart of the Canadian back four on home turf.

Her endless energy and athleticism impressed, winning her the Young Player of the Tournament award, but a quarter-final defeat at the hands of England ensured there was to be no fairytale for the Canadian team.

9. Hope Solo
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec4539c34b88cc0000001.jpg

Solo remains possibly the best-known player in the women's game, and single-handedly proves the lie behind the stereotype of female goalkeepers being the sport's main weakness.

The rock at the base of one of history's most successful women's teams, Solo finally added a World Cup winner's medal to her two Olympic golds - winning the Golden Glove award for goalkeeper of the tournament for the second edition running.

At 34 years old and with nearly 200 caps to her name, it wouldn't be a surprise if Solo was looking to hang up the gloves soon. But her form is as good as ever, going 540 minutes between goals conceded at the World Cup, and there's no reason for her to give up any time soon.

8. Lucy Bronze
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec47d9c34b8f455000001.jpg

The star of England's unexpected run to third place in last summer's World Cup, Bronze took the opportunity to show a global audience what any WSL fan already knew - that she's one of the toughest defenders in world football.

Primarily a right-back, but capable of playing anywhere across a back four (or even in front of one, if you're feeling greedy), Bronze added a place in the World Cup team of the tournament to the back-to-back WSL titles she won with Liverpool.

Oh, and her middle name is literally 'Tough'. Seriously.

7. Lisa De Vanna
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec49ac006da12d600001f.jpg

The Australia skipper has never stayed at a club for longer than a year, burning through 16 different teams in a decade, but the club scene isn't where greatness is forged in women's football.

Of old, De Vanna crafted herself a role as the perfect super-sub, coming off the bench to burn tired defences with her searing pace. Now older and with that famous speed lessening (only barely), De Vanna leads from the front and from the start for the Matildas.

With all-time leading scorer Kate Gill dropped from the Australian squad in the summer, it's only a matter of time before De Vanna snatches the record from her old hunting partner.

6. Anja Mittag
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56decbdee638ccfbee000001.jpg

Celia Sasic's shock retirement at the age of just 27 in the summer has left Anja Mittag as the leading forward in Germany's team once again - and with well over 130 international appearances, she's got the experience to back it up.

Mittag will have to make sure she's at the top of her game as young Alex Popp nips at her heels, but her five goals in last summer's World Cup show that she's still got what it takes to be one of the very best at the top level.

5. Amandine Henry
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec5159dac60d65c000002.jpg

One of the bright stars of an ever-improving France team, Henry's performances over the last couple of years have earned her recognition at the very highest level.

The 26-year-old finished as runner-up in voting for the Player of the Tournament at the 2015 World Cup and being named the second best player in Europe last year behind the now-retired Celia Sasic.

A defensive-minded midfielder by trade, Henry isn't short of a sprinkling of the spectacular when necessary. Her stunning long-range strike against Mexico in the summer was one of the highlights of the entire season, bending viciously away from the keeper into the top right-hand corner.

4. Eugénie Le Sommer
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56decd7f9c34b872d1000001.jpg

Probably best known in England for the stunning drive against Mark Sampson's side which condemned the Lionesses to defeat in their opening game of the tournament, the deadly Le Sommer has a real chance of finishing her career as France's all-time leading goalscorer.

The 26-year-old is one of the French side's key players, along with Amandine Henry, and is one of the main reasons that France are right up among the tournament favourites.

3. Aya Miyama
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dece2dc006da9697000001.jpg

The now-veteran midfielder first made her mark in international football as a teenager in the 2003 World Cup, but it was two tournaments later in 2011 when perhaps Miyama's greatest moment came.

Coming into the final as underdogs, Miyama hit a late equaliser to take the game to extra time, which eventually became penalties. Not content with merely saving the game for her side earlier, Miyama stepped up to slot home the first penalty in the shootout - creating a deficit from which the Americans never recovered.

The 2015 World Cup showed that her powers are still nowhere near waning despite passing the age of 20, with crucial goals in tight wins over the Netherlands and Switzerland in Japan's rampage to the final.

2. Megan Rapinoe
https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec5f8c4abefaa9b000001.jpg

Possibly one of the most technically gifted players in world football, Rapinoe is an absolute joy to watch in full flight. Incredible close control makes her a massive threat when running with the ball, and there isn't a single better mid-to-long range passer or crosser of the ball in women's football.

Rapinoe's qualities make her best suited to playing a supporting role. A comparison could be made to Arsenal and Germany playmaker Mesut Ozil, but without the German's habit of going missing in big games. Rapinoe's torn ACL could rule her out of the Olympics - and would be an enormous blow for the team if it did.

1. Carli Lloyd

https://images.90min.com/production/912x516/56dec6b99c34b8535b000001.jpg
The best player in women's football. Right now, it's not even close.

Despite turning 33 last summer, Lloyd finished the World Cup as player of the tournament by a handy margin, with a string of performances which would have put her in contention for the award even before her record-breaking 13-minute hat-trick against Japan in the final.

Goals in four of the USA's five games in February's CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament showed that Lloyd has lost none of her killer instinct, and make her a fair bet to lead the USWNT to glory in Rio in the summer.

Alex Morgan is also the highest earning female footballer in the world. She earns around $3 million annually, most of which is from endorsements worth $2.8 million. The US Soccer Federation pays her a salary of about $200,000 per year.

The top French players (and English players) on that list earn not less than $60,000 per year. It will take decades before the average earnings of top female footballers rival those of their male counterparts.

She told thenff.com: "They are responding to training. Despite the fact that we just started full training on Monday, I am very sure that within a little time, they will be able to get there.

"Despite the fact that the league season has not been on, I am happy about the response of the players to the training program.

I sure hope to see Nigerian Falcons' Stars make this World XI in the coming years. MEANWHILE,

BEHOLD, WOMEN FOOTBALL'S FIRST WORLD XI CALLED THE FIFPRO WOMEN'S WORLD XI
..........................................................................

Note: The same FIFPRO partners with FIFA for the Annual FIFA/FIFPRO World XI for Men's Football @ every Ballon D'or ceremony. Been on since 2005.
................................................

FIRST WOMEN'S WORLD XI REVEALED

FIFPro is proud to unveil the first Women’s World XI. The player-driven award, which is selected
by female footballers worldwide, includes four
members from the World Cup-winning US national
team.

“It’s an honor to be selected by the players,” said
World Player of the Year, Carli Lloyd.
“This is a great step forward in terms of equality, respect and recognition for women’s football."
“I’d like to thank FIFPro for making this possible. It’s
an initiative that will be appreciated by female players all over the world.”

All four US stars: Lloyd, Hope Solo, Meghan
Klingenberg and Julie Johnston
are based at home
in the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League). With the addition of Kedeisha Buchanan, North America has five players on the world’s best team.

Twenty-year-old Canadian international defender
Buchanan is the youngest player in the team. A
student at the University of West Virginia,
she made
quite an impression at last year’s World Cup where
she was voted Best Young Player.

The French top-flight is well represented with four
players. Notably, Olympique Lyonnais has three of
their own making the cut: Eugenie Le Sommer,
Amandine Henry and Wendie Renard,
the most
from any one club.

“I am very proud to be voted in the FIFPro World XI. It is an honor for me to be a part of this team with all these great players,” said Le Sommer.

Paris Saint Germain’s Anja Mittag is one of two
Germans in attack, lining up alongside Celia Sasic

who only recently announced her retirement from
the game.

"I'm very happy to be in the team, especially knowing that it's the players who voted,” said Mittag. “It's really great to know that from this moment on we’ll have our own World XI.”

This World XI breaks new ground, the first award of
its kind, for men or women, to contain players from
the United States, Canada and Japan, with Aya
Miyama being the sole representatitve from Asia.

The concept of a Women’s World XI developed over
the course of 2015 after FIFPro, the global players’
union, listened to numerous requests from female
players seeking the same recognition as their male
counterparts. FIFPro created the first World XI for
men in 2005.

“This is a landmark for the women’s game,” said
FIFPro General-Secretary Theo van Seggelen.
Female players of 33 different nationalities spread
out over 20 countries participated in the test vote, the process for which is still being refined as part of a pilot phase to ensure as many players as possible
have a chance to participate in future years.

Players are required to pick one goalkeeper, four
defenders, three midfielders and three forwards,
using the same format employed in deciding the
men’s award.

For the first time, players were invited to make their
submissions using an electronic voting system. This
was combined with the traditional method of club
and national team visits where players fill in ballot
forms by hand.

IWD 2016: What African women footballers want

Following the Fifa Women’s Football and Leadership Conference, Goal asked three African players what they want from the sport's governing body

Asisat Oshoala
International Women’s Day (IWD) was marked by the footballing community by a gathering of the sport’s top female football stars and leaders at the Fifa Women’s Football and Leadership Conference in Switzerland. The event gave a platform to the sallow but rising hope of women and female players around the world.

The successful event, titled ‘Equality Through Reform’, was geared towards planning how to take women’s football to the next level.

Goal reached out to some African players involved to collate their demands from the Confederation of African Football (Caf) in bid to improve the women's game in Africa.

Liverpool Ladies striker Asisat Oshoala, the only African featured as a panellist in Zurich, Equatorial Guinea defender Tobiloba Windapo, and Cameroon midfielder Carine Ndum all agreed to speak to us about the vision of the conference and any progress made.

The trio appealed to Africa’s footballing body to provide improved competitions and increased recognition for the women's game.

Here are their testimonies:
https://static.goal.com/di/F1EFB549FB579C97805E4E7E5B6F3A72.jpg
Asisat Oshoala: "There is a lot to ask from Caf because we lack a lot too as women footballers. Caf needs to engage more women in football administration. We want a good league organization structure like that of the men. We should have our own Africa U-17, U-20 cup competitions, and not only the World Cup that we see for our youth age groups.

We can also have a women’s Champions League in Africa, where the champions of every country will battle for trophy. We want more investment in the league and domestic competition so as to make it attractive and rewarding, like the men. Caf can always get sponsors for the female leagues just as they get sponsors for the African Women Cup of Nations (Awcon).

These are little things that can improve women's football in Africa.”
https://static.goal.com/di/8D43229AFE5718AA5FE35397C88FBA65.jpg
Tobiloba Windapo, Equatorial Guinea and Confluence Queens defender : "Africa is one of the continents that has produced the most talented female footballers, and is among top continents playing a great role in the development of the football in the men's category.

But it is still behind in women's football.

Africa needs more women’s competitions to help develop the ladies’ football and bring greater awareness to the continent. Caf should use their powerful office to attract women's football development in Africa, as such an event will help plant and promote grassroots programmes for talented female footballers. Africa has a great population of talents should not be neglected.

Caf should invest more in women’s football at the age-grade levels, because Africa has more bright prospects with the female than the male at the international level.

Caf needs not focus their attention only on male football, but also on the females, by organizing competitive youth competitions for the under 13s, 17s and 20s. The organizing of only the African Women’s Championship with no age-grade competition, is a major reason why the continent has not done well at the World Cup, even as the age-grade World Cups.

With all these steps, I think women football in Africa will take a new shape and attract huge benefits.”
https://static.goal.com/di/029238D400B229174A8DDAC2F8D34993.jpg
Carine Ndum, Cameroon and Atasehir Belediyespor midfielder: "Women’s football in Africa is in an ugly state. It's not encouraging at all and it is neglected by Caf. There are no sponsors and no recognition, and countries in Africa lack quality and solid women’s leagues.

Africa has talented female footballers, and Caf should support and help develop the game, but I'm confident, considering the increasing rate of stars from the continent dominating big clubs in Europe, that better days are here. Africa will be the best place to enjoy your football career.

It is a shame we don't even have age-grade competitions on the continent except for World Cup qualifying series and Africa Women Championship. Caf should increase the number of teams in Awcon and also add more competitions to women just like men too not only Nations Cup and World Cup. If this is done, Caf will keep the women as busy as the men.
https://static.goal.com/di/9937DBFEFB8C87A989E6F22E850D566B.jpg
No African country has hosted a Women's World Cup at any level, and to date, Africa is the only continent without any age-grade championships for women, with these having been replaced with qualifying series for the U17, U20 Women's World Cups.

The continent’s rich seam of female talent will be hoping that these players’ clarion call will prompt a change in approach for Caf.

.............................................................................

Today is official deadline day for transfers within the English WSL 1. ASISAT'S BEEN ASSIGNED #24. Same as Hector Bellerin in the men's team #smiles

Congrats Asisat.....

But mehn!!! Arsenal ladies also got the likes of:
-Kelly Smith (#10- centre forward),
-Natalia Pablos Sanchon (#7- centre forward),
-Katie McCabe (#15- winger),
-Danielle Carter (#9- centre forward and winger),
-Rachel Yankey (#11- winger), and
-Chloe Kelly (#18- centre forward) all in attack (wingers and centre-forwards).

The "real high-profile names" among these are KELLY SMITH (legendary English international), Natalia Pablos Sanchon (Top Spanish international), and Rachel Yankey (veteran left winger).

There's good competition there. But I believe Asisat will break in...... Hopefully. #smiles
Re: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 6:03pm On Mar 18, 2016
Latest: Rachel Yankey (Arsenal ladies FC's #11) has been sent on loan to Notts county.

Probably to accommodate Oshoala's arrival and give Yankey game time. Now Arsenal ladies has "6" forwards/wingers... No more "7".

I'm happy for Oshoala, more power to her.

I agree with the idea of having an African women's club competition even if most of the teams are amateur teams. And also back the calls for CAF to increase the number of final AWC teams to 12. More teams = more tournament experience for African teams.

She scored three goals in 12 league appearances for the Reds.

She is the reigning BBC's Women's Footballer of the Year.

Oshoala - New Arsenal signing

Nigeria international Asisat Oshoala has revealed she couldn’t turn down the offer to move to Arsenal having supported them when she was growing up.

“It feels like a dream come true,” she told the Arsenal website. “It was the team I supported when I was small. When I first started playing and watching football, I started supporting Arsenal because I love good football.

“Everyone is happy because it is a very popular club in my country. Having their own player playing for the club is a great thing. Everyone was happy about it - not just my family but football fans around Nigeria."

Arsenal Ladies kick off their season against Birmingham Ladies in the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday, and Oshoala is hoping to make an instant impact.

“I can’t wait for the start of the season to happen,” she said. “I’m really eager for that - I just want to show what we have to the fans.

“When I came here last week, I had a very long conversation with Pedro [Martinez Losa] and he told me the goals of the club, what the club has to offer and what the club is looking to do in the future. I think I’m comfortable and happy with the dream of the club.

“He was talking about the organisation and professionalism of the team. It is getting better each year. The coming years are going to be far better.”

Oshoala moves a step closer to superstardom

Arsenal new girl Oshoala is heading for superstardom

Nigeria international Asisat Oshoala has moved a step closer to reaching superstardom in the women’s game after she completed her transfer to Arsenal Ladies from Liverpool Ladies.

Patience Avre, Mercy Akide-Udoh and Perpetua Nkwocha have over the years been the standard bearers for Nigerian women’s football, but Oshoala is destined to eclipse all their accomplishments before long.

Oshoala’s Arsenal Ladies are the most successful football club in England as far as women’s game is concern having won 40 major trophies, namely two FA Women Super League titles, 12 FA Women's Premier League titles, 13 Women’s FA Cup, 10 Women’s Premier League title and UEFA Women's Champions League.

The Ikorodu-born forward is headed for greatness with Arsenal going by her pedigree and the quality of players she will now play alongside.

She could call on the experience of 36-year-old forward Kelly Smith and the Spanish star Natalia Pablos, who netted seven goals last year.

Oshoala is primed to win more laurels with the London club after making an impact at Liverpool Ladies, where she scored three goals in nine appearances last year even after she was slowed down by a long-term injury.

She must have left a big impression on Arsenal last year when she scored against them for Liverpool to run away 3-1 winners in a league game in July.

The athletic player, who could also play in defence and midfield, is already an achiever having represented Nigeria at youth and full international levels. She won African Women’s Nations Cup in 2014 and a silver medal at FIFA U20 World same year.

Arsenal coach Pedro Losa has said he is delighted to sign the Highly-rated 21-year-old striker.

“Asisat is a fantastic talent and will be a great addition to our squad. She is quick, with excellent feet and has proven she can score goals, so it’s very positive she has decided to join us,” he remarked.

Arsenal Ladies kick off their season against Birmingham Ladies in the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday, and Oshoala will be looking to hit the ground running.

“I can’t wait for the start of the season to happen,” she said. “I’m really eager for that - I just want to show what we have to the fans,” she said.

And on Wednesday, Arsenal will get this year’s league campaign off and running when they play host to Reading.
