But the match comes up on Friday? Why the hype? Anyhow, it is football not magic(Sorry JJ Okocha) cheesy.

-You play better than Zambia, you take your chances, you beat them.

-You play poorer than Zambia, they take their chances, they beat you.

- You play up to the same standard with Zambia and vice versa with allowance for luck, you get a draw.

It is so simple.

If the eagles can up their game and play with a lot more determination, chase and contest every ball until the blast of the final whistle victory is sure.

Remember my days in the OAU school team!i always see each game as a battle. was once called the assassin by my coach cos of my italo kindda of play. i miss watching fellow assassins like nasta,Paolo Maldini jaap stam Fabio Cannavaro Franco Baresi.

We are advised to only have faith in GOD, faith on the super eagles is not possible. I will watch the match when we get there.
Thank GOD I am still young and very healthy, so no fear of heart-attack.

Football is dead is Nigeria. We all need to accept this. I can't believe watching Eagles that can't simply hold possession and string 4 simple passes into the opposition area. Its unfortunate that we live in fools paradise thinking that Eagle are strong force in Africa. So sad, hell no! Keshi should just resign before the third match instead of being embarrassed by the inefficient and blindfolded NFF board. We have no blue print to re-emerge as Africa's pride (HO my dear Super Eagles..please revisit Tunisia 94, USA 94 and Atlanta 96)....You will then understand my point. Every is talking about Barca playing syle....but pls watch these competitions again and again, FIFA wasn't mad to elevate Nigeria as the 5th best football nation of the world back in 94.

Its a shame we are rubbing shoulders with the minors these days. Corruption, nepotism and lack of knowledge has been the bane of Nigeria Football Federation. It is only in Nigeria that a medical doctor or farmer will head sports or football house. Ridiculous!

Well, i think Nigeria can only pick up at least 1 point from the group. May be we'll have another draw against Ethiopia. But we'll definitely lose by a narrow margin against the defending champion Zambia.
This Super Eagles CAN'T BITE! Sorry ooooooooooo

We want SE to win, but its not up to us but the players themselves. They are not playing like they are there to win and also who can believe a team made of 17 home based players will not be hungry to die for a place in the world stage, I am more confident that Ethiopia will qualify than our own dear Super Eagles.

I must say I don't see SE as a team fit enough to play in a typical Afcon tornament where physical fittness is all that you need to win

Former internationals, Emeka Ezeugo and Edema Fuludu have voiced their disappointments over the Super Eagles outing in their opening South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of Nations game against Burkina Faso on Monday.

The Eagles conceded a late Alain Traore goal in added time to tie score 1-1 after Emmanuel Emenike’s first half goal had put the Nigerians in the lead.

“Organisation wise, they (Eagles) were lacking. They looked like primary school kids; they were just elementary. Burkina Faso could have nailed them with two dead ball situations but they too didn’t take their chances,” the USA ’94 World Cup Eagles midfielder said.

“I didn’t see any leader in the team. You could say it was their first game but they have to ensure that they pick up maximum points in their next match.”

Also, Fuludu, a 1994 winner of the Nations Cup, said the lack of a true leader contributed to the outcome of Monday’s match.

He said, “Our defence was poor and (Joseph) Yobo didn’t take command of the team. We were lucky Nosa Igiebor  was not also given a red card.

“We were naïve; with just 30 seconds to go we should have kept the ball with 10 men. They didn’t have to be told by the coach because they are professionals.”

Another ex-international, Friday Ekpo, said, “Thank God that we didn’t lose the game because the team didn’t play as a unit. We couldn’t keep the ball for two minutes.”

The former Shell of Gabon midfielder, who helped Nigeria to a third-place finish at Senegal ’92, however says the exclusion of experienced players like Osaze Odemwingie, Obafemi Martins and Taye Taiwo by coach Stephen Keshi didn’t cost the Eagles dearly in their opening game.

“The players in the present squad are equally good. Everyone cannot make the team at the same time. The coach has selected his team and we must respect that.”

Nigeria’s goalkeeper at the 1976 Nations Cup, Joe Erico, said sloppy defending spoilt Eagles’ fun.

“We shouldn’t take teams for granted. If you are careless, you get punished for it and that was what happened on Monday,” Erico said
