Did she eventually find someone who turned her blood from black to blue? Or did the story tapper into a tragic climax?

We anxiously await the rudder of your imagination to steer us through this unanswered suspense.

I won't be surprised if someone like you have not published a single book worth reading because it's quite obvious from your comment that you don't know how mentally tasking creating fictional stories can be.

' Veronica maternity' clinic stood adjacent to the town cemetery, it had a dull-brown-dirty look, the zinc was rusty thanks to age.

the clinic was where the market women who couldn't afford the luxury of going to a private clinic went for their antenatal.

The inside of the clinic held no better sight, it was dirty and not fit for a poultry house but financial situation force women to go there as the maternity charge was not on the high side and quite affordable.

the clinic boast of a security man who was always drunk, a secretary who was a spinster in her late forties, an aggressive nurse and a lazy ward maid.

Madam veronica, 'iya kudi' as she was called by her friends prides herself as a medical personnel and owner of a maternity clinic, she never knew she would come this far, she wasn't a nurse, she took after her mum who delivered pregnant women of their children.

On that fateful day, she was in her clinic, at her office calculating the estimate she needed to sponsor her 'sugar-boy', to Italy, he had been her best, he was the most loyal, most respectful, most hard working and his service on bed was out of the world.


Kayode Yusuf, was the best thing that had ever happened to her, though, she was twenty years older, age was insignificant. she loved the way he sought to please her, to spice her world, he proved his loyalty to her by always going beneath her, tasting her and marching her sexual prowess and taking her to paradise.

she was obsessed with him, she was taken aback when he told her of his plans of traveling to Italy to join his friends who where into drug peddling.

Iya kudi refused bluntly, her sugar-son was vexed and left but after two weeks when she couldn't endure the torment of being far from him she took her bulky and beefy body to him.

He meant business, he refused to touch her until she promised to give him the money for his supposed trip, longing to eat the forbidden fruit she agreed, he was happy and took her to the greatest height of sexual intimacy.

Iya kudi, after realizing that all her savings wasn't enough to sponsor her sugarboy she became sad and became desperate for money.

Her attention was called by her secretary that two women where in labour and one of them looked sick and may need to be operated.

she went to see them.

she was shocked when she saw Mama chisom, the woman had been her customer for ten years now, having birthed eight children in ten years, all baby girls. she was shocked the woman had come again to deliver her ninth child.


iya kudi also knew the lady with the sick pregnant woman, she knew her name was Maggie for she once came for an abortion procedure that damaged her womb. she knew they were prostitute.

she asked Maggie to go get some injections and drugs which she wrote down.

she checked how far Mama chisom had dilated and knew she was due soon.


she also checked the emaciated prostitute and noticed her cervix was a bit tight, she inserted some drugs that would aid the dilation process.

An hour later, Maggie wasn't back yet and the lady she came with was becoming weak, iya kudi didn't want the lady to die in her clinic but something happened, she heard the lady say with a tiny voice " its coming, its coming".


she went over and truly the baby head was out, she urged the lady to push, the lady pushed and fainted.

she had given birth to a baby boy.


Ten minute later, Mama chisom pushed her baby out.

A bouncing baby girl.

when mama chisom saw the baby she wailed loudly.
"not a girl again".

the other nurse was fixing a drip on the prostitute hand while her son cried loudly.


Mama chisom looked at iya kudi and said "pls help me".
